Best dentist in Flag? Best dentist in Arizona! Possibly anywhere…read more She's rightfully earned that title too, that's not just my opinion, she's been awarded Best Dentist in Flag and with good reason. Short & sweet, Stephanie is professional, she is compassionate, kind and most importantly she is HONEST. Highly recommend. Make your appointment, you won't regret it. The longer version: This isn't a review to get gain on my part in any shape or form. No shirt, movie tickets, no $50 discount off my bill. It's simply because she deserves it! I just feel bad it's taken me so long to leave one! In my 31 years she is the most trustworthy dentist I've ever rubbed shoulders with and I've had my fair share of run ins with less than desirable dentists who've recommended all the work just to take advantage of my insurance, and empty my wallet. I've known Stephanie for three years now and have seen her every 6 months. As for curbside appeal, it's a cute brick building in the heart of downtown Flagstaff. And the interior, quaint, sufficient and cozy. BUT the care that you will receive far surpasses the esthetics. We have since moved to the valley and had to be seen by a new dentist who was all those things, new, flashy and fancy-state of the art equipment that they didn't hesitate to brag about. But all of that did NOTHING for me. Because he was dishonest. After a regular cleaning he told me I needed 4 crowns (2 that needed to be done immediately) and that I have a handful of cavities. I was in shock considering I hadn't had a single cavity in the two years I'd been seeing Stephanie. I wasn't about to move forward without a second opinion. I called, set an apt & made the 3 hour trip to see Stephanie, she made her assessment before I gave her his recommendations (per her request) and sure enough all I need is to repair two fillings! "You don't know what you don't know" which is why I always dread having to find a new doctor, because of dentists like that it makes it really difficult to know what to believe and who you can trust. But I LOVE AND TRUST STEPHANIE. I am so grateful for her, her expertise and her practice. All personnel in her office have always treated me respectfully, have been kind and always professional. I'd make a three hour trip to see her anytime! Best dentist in Flag? Best dentist in Arizona! Possibly anywhere- in my 31 years she is the most trustworthy dentist I've ever rubbed shoulders with and I've had my fair share of run ins with crooks who've recommended all the work just to charge my insurance to the max and empty my wallet. The general theme of my care there was a significant amount of discomfort and pain. General cleanings consisted of him inquiring of any pain or discomfort, doing a quick exam and exiting to let the hygienists take over. Disclaimer: I don't have perfect dental hygiene but I try to take care of my teeth and like most people forget to floss. In December '15 I had a crown placed by this office due to sensitivity when biting down which he diagnosed as a crack. The procedure was awful and I wasn't given enough time to get numb. The sensitivity never really did go away and I switched to a new dentist in March '16. In July 2016, I woke up to 10/10 pain in the tooth. I spent the week in a narcotic coma and taking lots of antibiotics and steroids. I work in healthcare on nights and I cannot miss work, as there is simply no one to cover for nights if you get sick. I had to call out 1 shift due to all this, thankfully a coworker covered for me or I would have had to go to work with all that pain. A second set of x-rays showed a large area of infection around and in the tooth. It needed a root canal and when the old crown came off, half the tooth had rotted away and the cavity was a hair away from the tooth pulp. It was pretty gruesome looking. Apparently this all could have been avoided by properly diagnosing the problem in the first place. There was never a crack. Dr. Darlington's front office staff was very nice and I will be getting a refund for the co-pay for the first crown. I hate to make disparaging comments against anyone, but I feel my experience was poor enough that I should caution anyone with sensitive or problem ridden teeth. Sorry Dr. D. I found the work and bedside manner to be slapdash. Not good when dental care is already a dread for most people.

The tooth (a molar with 3 roots) was crowned so she drilled right down and did her thing. I had some pain during the procedure and she stopped, juiced me up and went back to work. For the past 6 days, I have been dealing with one of the worst pain episodes in my life. One of my upper left tooth started to give me immense trouble while I was flying to Austin (I did go to an ER in Austin for a temporary solution) and being that it was Memorial Day weekend (translates to FML), I had to wait 5 days pumped full of pain meds and antibiotics before I finally got a diagnosis and some treatment. I did manage to go to another dentist in town, but that wasn't very helpful. I actually then called Dr. Crane's office and they suggested I visited Dr. Leiendecker's office. I called her office yesterday morning and they were able to get me in today. The office sent me an email to fill out forms beforehand (easy process) and today when I came for the appointment, I just had to sign a few forms. Dr. Leiendecker (and her assistant) were great with me! She explained everything to me and told me also that she didn't think a root canal was actually necessary and wanted to make sure I was doing the best thing for my teeth and also didn't want me to spend so much money. Wow, I was really so shocked how caring she was with me. Its been a long time since I met a doctor like her. I highly recommend her if you need an endodontist. I wish I could make her my general dentist because she gives such good care. I'm so grateful that she helped me today, made the pain go away and made sure my tooth would be ok. Thanks so much Dr. L for everything.

Dr. T was polite in our first meeting, explaining the procedure. I was in horrific jaw and molar pain and did the best I could to understand his information. I told him I was living on constant Ibuprofen, having difficulty eating on one side of my jaw and constant pain. He had no other offer of anti-inflammatories for the pain with 10 days to wait for the procedure. The antibiotic he prescribed before the surgery gave me 10 days of unbelievably painful mouth ulcers. When I complained, Dr. Tagle told me I was 'lucky' since quiet often the reaction to antibiotics is constant throwing up. Drinking, eating, swallowing, sleeping were all interrupted during the 10 day wait. I also thought it odd that I was charged separately for the consultationwhere, I guess, Dr. Tagle decided I was a candidate. The surgery was a different charge. Perhaps this is a root canal specialist business practice but it was odd to me. His lobby staff were the loudest I have experienced in waiting rooms. I guess they enjoy their jobs but they were raucous for me. The surgery was a nightmare since the root canal was molar #18, the farthest tooth in my small mouth. I could not open any wider during the long procedure and yet I was constantly asked to open wider, told I would need to come back to finish because of the time. That comment filled me with fear that the procedure would need to be put off to another day. Anxiety is even close to how I felt during the operation. Perhaps the tooth position would have been a ghastly experience with a different surgeon but I will never forget the miserable 10 days of open mouth ulcers (thrush) and being told I was lucky. Dr. T did notice on x-rays that he suspected dental decay on the molar. That was true and my regular dentist confirmed that the decay had ossified and presented no further issue.
