I love the chips and salsa here! The food otherwise is pretty good. I usually get their tamale plate. The patio is wonderful on a nice sunny day and they have good drink specials for happy hour. Overall, I'm a fan of Joe Taco! read more

I order catering from them and it's great! Plenty of food for the people I ordered for and the sopapillas we so delicious people couldn't stop talking about them. I recommended them to anyone who wants a meal catered. read more

Favorite restaurant in Amarillo! Haven't had anything on the menu I don't like. The stuffed avacados are amazing! I also like the nachos and the skinny meat! The salsa is great and the beer selection is as well! Only thing I would change is the cocky male bartender who neglects customers to flirt with the female bar guests but all the other servers are top notch. read more

Great Mexican food. The David's special is wonderful. And the house margaritas are perfect. Ask for Ryan. He's a great waiter. Very knowledgeable and fun. read more

Although the waiter seemed to be having a bad day, the food was great! I had the stuffed avocado and it was delicous. It had a ton of chicken and cheese and was better than other restaurants versions. read more

Our hotel recommended Joe Taco, a hipster place with a great outdoor patio and craft beer. But it's the food you go for. We ordered to go as they were near closing. (It closed early at 9 p.m. on a Sunday night. Even then they were busy!) I had crunchy tacos and they were stuffed! Fajita beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese--all fresh and delicious. I topped them off with the salsa and quacamole. They gave us a generous portion of chips and salsa on the side. My boyfriend had a chicken fajita burrito, fully loaded with chicken. The beans tasted just like my mama's. Everything was fresh and great tasting. Prices were exceptionally reasonable with large portions. We loved their t-shirts: "So authentic Trump would build a wall around us!" read more

I give this a solid two. Of all the taco restaurants in Amarillo, this is one of them. Nothing special, tacos were okay. I asked the server to bring me change for the bill, but he kept the change and went on break. The beans were the best thing on the menu, but everything else was forgettable. We won't be back. read more

Shared a stuffed avocado and got fajitas for dinner. Drinks were cheap and tasty. Overall, this was a solid Mexican restaurant. The stuffed avocado was quite unique. Otherwise, it was a solid meal and drinks and the prices were great. Our server also did a phenomenal job with our large party. read more

Amazing service and amazing food. We got the skinny meat tacos and the brisket chimichanga. Both were extremely good. Our server was amazing, brought us drink refills before even having to ask. We will definitely be going back! read more

Glad we found this place as we traveled through. Chips were excellent, and were sprinkled with a chili powder mix. Salsa was full flavored without destroying my taste buds for the rest of the evening. We all got the taqueria taco plate which gives you three build your own tacos. I had the roasted pork, red chili chicken and brisket all on flower totillas. Both the pork and chicken were very moist and tender with great flavor. The brisket meat was a bit greasy. Next time I would try the fajita steak. My other family members got the ground beef in crispy shells. No compaints and the meat was again well spiced without going over the top. Beans and Rice were not the main focus of the meal. read more

One of my favorite places. Try the enchiladas with Mexican brisket and sour cream sauce!

Went there for my birthday - margaritas were good, cucumber salsa was good, and service was ok. They took some goading to warm up to us, a table of servers and bartenders. The menu had ceviche but the store said it was a "summer item only" which was very upsetting for this birthday girl!! read more

Tacos are the bomb. Happy hour starts at 4 pm.

I love this place. Sat out on the Patio on a beautiful fall day. I could have stayed there forever. Love the atmosphere and some of the best Mexican food around. read more

First time coming here. The Beto's hamburger is incomparable. Wait staff is friendly and inviting. My experience a first time here is pleasant and enjoyable. read more

Consistently great service by the servers and great-tasting food. I also like the laid-back environment it provides, and their beer's pretty cheap too. I've tried Joe's Sirloin and Cheech & Chimichanga, and both were delicious! read more

Great baja fish tacos! We eat fish tacos any chance we get. We've had fish tacos in California, Maui & Florida and these were right up there. Our waitress was also great. read more

4.5 stars, really, but that wasn't an option. We sat on the Fido-friendly patio, and enjoyed seasoned chips and salsa while listening to live music (think Brown Eyed Girl, Sweet Caroline) and waiting for our food. Pretty good food, too. read more

We ordered theDavid Special and it was great. The sopapilla was the great tough. Also ordered the Fajita with pulled pork. Great dish.

I am from Los Angeles I got to the restaurant as they were closing as I was leaving obviously tired and hungry one of the employees came out and offered me his shift meal I graciously accepted thank you very much. The meal was a crispy shell taco sampler and it was very good I look forward to actually eating in there read more

Nice atmosphere, Good food, fair prices, good service. Love the patio.

Lousy Mexican food. Will not eat here agaieven if it is just a few steps from the hotel.

Great Place to Eat!!! Has a Fabulous Patio and you never know when someone just might bust out singing either in the Restaurant or out on the Patio!!! Just make sure to pay your Tab and don't take the cell phone Chargers!!! Our Group was next to Jeff J. who posted a negative review and our table was mortified at their behavior not the Managements to be clear!!! So-called good people don't behave as they did! Kudos to the Management for handling the situation in a professional manner!!! read more

The food is great and staff are very friendly and helpful. We like the stuffed avocado and Davids special. Good place to up with friends for a cold beverage. read more

Id like to start out by saying that the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The food is good. I had a taco and sour cream enchiladas the enchiladas where the best of the two. read more

Had the Mexican pulled pork tacos, were too salty! Daughter had the tilapia fish tacos and were luke warm, inedible! Son had chimichanga and he seemed to enjoy it, but he is 16yrs old. Husband had the big A burrito and said it was alright. Won't return, nothing special. read more

Went to joes last year with co workers and food not very well. On 4-28-16 boss lady made reservations for a table and we show up and nothing is reserved. There was not good communication observed between staff and our group. We decided to sit outside with bird droppings on table and chairs. and customer service continue to be lacking. A few people order and eat. I did not. Will not return to this place. I would be embarrassed to work there. Especially when you are next to hospitals and other business. read more

As we were moving across the country we found this restaurant while searching for food. It's a little bit off I-40,but soooo good. We walked in at 8:59 not knowing that they closed at 9. The kitchen said that they would stay open and they did. We didn't feel rushed by the staff at all. We rushed because we felt bad. As for the food, it was really good. I ordered the fish tacos. The mango sauce that goes with them is really good. My husband ordered the stuffed avocado off the recommendations on Yelp. If only our final destination wasn't 1000 miles away I would defiantly go back. read more

Love Joe Taco! Great food! Great service! The fish taco's are my favorite. One of my fav places to dine.

We love this place. Their drink specials are unbeatable, and the food is always great. The fact that they have so many vegetarian options is also a plus. Of course it isn't "authentic mexican food"...but what can you expect...it's called Joe Taco. Very tex-mex. Skinny taco's are a must have, and the stuff avocado is always perfect. Also-the green sauce is to die for. read more

My husband and I are local to Amarillo and LOVE Joe Taco. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this isn't the joint for you. If you want some damn good Tex Mex, then try Joe Taco. The only downfalls I have experienced here is that I'm not crazy for their hot sauce they serve complimentary with their chips. It's a little too runny and tomato tasting for my personal preference but hey it's free so who am I to complain? If they don't bring out the "green sauce" or avocado cilantro green sauce then ask for it! Also complimentary and makes up for the hot sauce. The second downfall is that I'm an avid Bloody Mary drinker on Sundays and this place doesn't have a good Bloody Mary. You've been warned. Aaaand their beer is delicious but never ice cold. Other than those minor problemos, I would definitely suggest the Truck Tacos!!!, Stuffed Avocado, or Big A burrito. I love their sour cream sauce. Also, if you're in Amarillo for a little while, they occasionally play live music on their patio (weather permitting) that is a fun lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon vibe. Usually country and oldies. read more

I suppose this review could be my fault for not checking on the allergens before eating here, but I learned the hard way that Joe Taco is about the last place in Amarillo to eat if you have a dairy allergy. Mexican is normally a really easy option when it comes to dairy free: fajitas, tacos without cheese, salads, etc., however, I was told that every single meat had dairy in it other than the fish (which I detest as it is). So I ordered the fish tacos in corn tortillas (can't eat gluten either) without the cheese or ranch sauce with veggies on the side. Apparently the cooks don't understand food allergies because they also chose to leave the mango salsa off and delivered a plate of corn tortillas with disgustingly fishy fish sans seasoning, lettuce, and pico on the side with steamed and season free zucchini. Thank goodness Amarillo has a five guys because otherwise it would have been scrambled eggs at home for me. read more

Went there yesterday for a late lunch with my daughter and grandkids. Walked in and it wasn't very busy, three girls and 1guy who I think maybe the manager were all clustered round the podium, didn't acknowledge us,smile or even ask if we needed to be seated. Had it been just me I would have left then! After 3 to 4 minutes I approached them and asked if would have a table, they looked and asked how many people we told them, no response a waiter walked outside we thought maybe he was showing us where to sit, when we asked were told no we are finding you a table. Showed our table on the patio with the lovely view of the porta potties! The saving grace was the great waiter, who made up for the others rudeness. I had the fish tacos, which were ok, I have had much better. The food could have been warmer. Loved the chips, hot sauce and the green dip. Loved our waiter, not impressed with the rest of the staff. And dude if you were the manager, sunglasses perched on top of your head, huddled together with the girls at front not acknowledging customers is not a great way to run a business. Will I be back? Heck NO, I will go someplace where I feel welcome. read more
