After I ran the Lincoln Half Marathon we had some drinks and I needed to upload some carbs. The server at JP Kelly's recommended this place. It looks like a slice of Italy. You have to order at the counter. They have a daily special, pizza by the slice and by the pie. The menus offers sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, two types of pizza (Sicilian and deep dish) plus desserts. They have fountain soda, draft beer, bottle beer and wine. We felt like we had hit the jack pot. We ordered the garlic knots for an appetizer, and the special of the day. It did not take long for the appetizer and the owner even brought out extra bread to help us celebrate my victory. We were so shocked. the server brought us our rigatoni special. Came on a business trip for a late lunch, ran into this place, was empty save for a few ppl. Decor was nice, traditional looking pizza joint. Service wasn't bad, but I can see why some other ppl would complain as they are very direct. The food was ok I ordered the lunch special, 2 slices of pizza and a drink until 2:30. Slices were average size, but for a guy like me I could have eaten another slice or 2. Came as a thin slice, sauce was good slightly spicy with a hint of sweet, you definitely taste the oregano and basil. But I added the cheese which I think was real parmesan (not the commercial Kraft stuff) definitely made a difference. Crust was very limp (IMO). Do yourself a favor and disregard any nonsense reviews. This pizza is authentic and delicious. We got the biggest sausage and mushroom available and ate nearly the whole thing. Beautiful chew to the crust, the sausage has outstanding flavor, just enough sauce to complement the toppings and plenty of cheese to bring it home. This isn't our first Gallina pizza BY FAR, and I've been enjoying Gallina myself since like 1985...I just thought to look at reviews and wanted to add my voice because this place should be in the RED, guys. For delivery- delivery man was knocked loudly on my door then as I was going to the door he started banging. We are talking in a hotel room (doesn't take that long to get to the door) and when I answered he said sorry I didn't think anyone was there. So strange. I could understand if he had been knocking for awhile. Second my bill was just under 20. So I asked if he had change (didn't think that was an outrageous ask) and he was like uh no. So I gave him 21 and apologized that was what I had. His response "well I'm sorry too". I said "well maybe carry change next time" and he stared at me like an alien. Third. Visited this place TWICE in the 1.5 days my boyfriend and I were in town. We both ordered a pizza; one veggie and one gluten-free with cheese. We loved them! My gluten-free was the best I have ever had and I already know nothing else will ever compare. The pizza was the perfect blend of melted cheese over perfectly seasoned sauce all held together by a chewy yet strudy thin crust. This crust was unlike what a typically bland gluten-free tends to be... airy and mealy. Thank you so much for taking the time on adding it to your menu and making it as delicious as it is! The attendant there was also great! He helped me select the perfect wine to go along with what taste I had in mind. It's evident he takes pride in what he serves, as he should! On the second visit to here we just ordered a pizza to-go to take back to Chicago (okay that got eaten even before getting back on the train lol). And the same attendant was there! An actual pizza place run by actual Italians. The food here is pretty authentic, even though the decor is pure stereotypical Italian restaurant, right down to the tablecloths. The meatball parmigiana sandwich was excellent and their white pizza is right up there as well. A delicious and pleasant surprise in the capitol. They even have aglio et olio, though it's written out spaghetti with olive oil. I think this place has the right balance of trying to produce authentic Italian but still have a small-town pizzeria feel (pizza by the slice and lunch specials.) Pretty average pizza and pasta. It was one of the few places even open within walking distance from our hotel. We ordered a thin crust pizza, which wasn't amazingly thin or anything. It was somehow doughy in the middle. The sauce and cheese were average. Olives average. I think they tried to saute the green onions first and they were somehow watery. It would have been better to throw them on fresh. The sausage was that dry, cheap kind that is impossibly crumbly and tasteless. Earlier we ordered pasta. The stuffed shells were what you would expect. Not amazing but pretty damn good. The only complaint would be the sauce was thin. I ate it with the garlic knots and they also served bread, which was very good. So, it's not something I would ever get a hankering for, but if you're stuck in Springfield this is a safe bet as long as you stay away from the pizza. read more

Delivery was as promised and the food was hot and delicious. The delivery guy was friendly and did double-check to see that my credit card was legit. We've neen waiting almost an hour for a pizza and the tables around us have informed us their orders were wrong and confused with other customers orders. Joe Gallina's has the best pizza I have ever had in Springfield. It's conveniently located in downtown Springfield and they also deliver. They have a wide selection of pizza and other offerings you might find at a pizza place (pasta, sandwiches, etc). I popped in for lunch last week and had the white pizza with onions and Canadian bacon. You do not see white pizza (pizza with garlic and olive oil instead of marinara sauce) too often outside of Chicago so I was impressed to see this on their menu. It was delicious and I'll definitely be back to sample it again. Joe's is a great place to go for lunch if you work downtown or if you want to grab pizza and a cold beer after work. Came in town for a hockey tournament. While staying in our hotel my family decided we wanted pizza. I googled delivery pizza and came across Galina's. It was reasonable and AMAZING! They other families with us were jealous, and we did share. Several of them ordered also. The second night we all decided to order from Galina's again! But this time all together. It was so good. Pizza is average but they have these fresh rolls called "garlic knots" and they are so good!! Fresh dough rolled up, twisted into a knot, baked in the pizza oven, brushed with butter, olive oil and fresh chopped garlic. Very strong garlic flavor but oh so good!! Lost my business because of my poor customer service I have been a customer of downtown Gallina's for five years, but they have just permanently lost my business because of very poor customer service. A month ago, I ordered a pizza which took two and a half hours to arrive. I was not called at any point with any updates about this delay. When I called two hours after this initial order to check on its status, I was told that the delay was caused because they had forgotten to put in my order, in the first place. I received no apologies about either this failure to put in my order, or about the extreme delay in my pizza arriving (which severely disrupted my evening and my schedule.) I asked to be refunded my money for my pizza, given the severity of this delay and the extreme inconvenience which it caused me. The owner refused to give me the refund I requested, but promised me a free pizza next time I called. When I called to redeem this offer of a free pizza, after putting me on hold for five minutes, I was offered a "half-off" deal on my pizza (rather than the free pizza which I had been explicitly promised, and which the owner assured me he had made a note of, under my name.) Once again, I was offered no apologies for either the two and a half hour delay on my first delivery order, or about the retraction of the promise to compensate me with a free pizza because of this initial delay. When my pizza was delivered, the deliveryperson was not friendly, giving me the impression that I, and my demand to be compensated for the poor customer service I had been received, was an unpleasant nuisance. After receiving this treatment, I will never be going back to downtown Gallina's. I am very disappointed that a business I have frequented so regularly, and which I have so enthusiastically supported for five years, would treat me as a (formerly) loyal customer, or treat any customer, so poorly. I will be finding a new pizzeria, which treats it customers with the respect and courtesy which I was unfortunately repeatedly denied at downtown Gallina's. read more
