I have a 2015 Ford Escape and brought it in yesterday for an oil change. The service was great from start to finish! I booked on line for a $49.95 oil change and was mistakenly changed $74 and change which the service technician who assisted me corrected without hesitantant. The other thing that impressed me was that my service technician did not try to upset me on any services. I have a regular mechanic and know that my Escape is in excellent working condition. I felt like I could trust this dealership which is not the norm with most car deakerships The chairs in the waiting area were comfortable and coffee & snacks were offered. The service department has made a proper step forward in the last 2 years. The second time I brought my 2019 F150 in, I was a little wary. I just had my 2nd great experience with Andrew in the service department. I believe that my issue was fixed, and I Love my truck again. I called today and spoke to a salesman about a van that I no longer needed. It was in very good condition and KBB and NADA said the vehicle was worth $22k. The salesman I spoke to told me the vehicle was worth on $10k resale and he said he would sell it for +/- $14.5k. I refused his offer and did some more comps. I went to Carmax for an appraisal and they offered me $21.7k for the vehicle! I would never recommend or use this band of thieves in the future. They will rip you off! read more

Always have a great experience at Joe Cotton Ford. My previous car needed an oil change, come to find out it had another major issues that they were able fix for me while I was there. I also most recently just purchased a pre-owned 2017 Ford Fiesta Titanium that I LOVE! I don't write many reviews as my experiences tend to be neutral, especially with a car dealers. I met with Mike on a online inquiry about a 2016 Focus ST. Upon arriving, I was advised it was sold. No worries as the manager told me there was an identical Focus coming in that night. We ran numbers and got a trade in value for my 2012 Nissan. I got EXACTLY what I wanted, no bantering, no arguing, no back n forth to "talk with the manager". I got what I wanted, pure and simple with no fine print nonsense. The following day, sure enough the Focus ST was there clean and cut and ready to go for me. Mike and the dealer were there to make sure I; and I repeat I, the buyer, was satisfied. I have never, ever, been to a place that will take care of you like they did. Let's face it folks, car dealers want your business and more importantly, YOUR MONEY. I will start this that if you are looking for a tow truck for a fifth wheel don't go to Joe Cotton Ford And for sure don't use the Sale manager Bob Driver. He is one of those people that say they know how to set a truck up but me has really no idea. We made the mistake of meeting him for a new Ford F-250 King Ranch. Gave him the book on the fifth wheel we wanted to pull and we got a truck that has a payload of only 2028 lb. they went as far as to try and tell my wife that the yellow tire sticker on door post means nothing. But use words that they can to make it find good like every truck has that sticker. I would be over payload with just the trailer an two people in the truck. And writing to GM gets you no where he does not even reply. Moral of this is stay away from Joe Cotton Ford you will be much happier for sure. read more

My experience at this dealership was "HORRIBLE " if you need a service on your vehicle please go somewhere else unless you are ready to deal with people that go by ( your emergency is not my emergency) I took my SUV for an engine light, next things I know is that is not drivable and won't give back because it needs a new engine which luckily was under warranty as well as a rental car, 3 weeks later I barely got my car back ONLY because corporate office got involved. I was told my car was the only one the mechanic was working on yet it took 3 weeks to get back, was promised a rental car which I never got, was told by the manager he would be taking care of this problem but never called me, emailed the general manager but never got a response. I had an appointment at 8 AM today for a basic oil change. I showed up and was told I was the first one there. But then an hour and a half goes by, and three other people had arrived and were taken care of and left before they finished my car. A gentlemen who was taken care of before me was also there for an oil change. I asked the guy assisting me about the program where you get three oil changes and the fourth one was free. The guy said he would look up my account and apply it but that it wouldn't include tire rotation. I said that was fine as long as the oil change was free. He sends me upstairs to wait. An hour and a half goes by and he finally comes up to tell me my car is ready. He tells me that he only saw two oil changes on my service history (which is not true, I save ALL the paper work, and even offered to bring in the paper work to prove it) and he simply said it wouldn't matter there was nothing he could do and that he would have to charge me for the oil change. Finally, the bill. A woman who they took care of before me got very upset when they handed her the bill. She started arguing with the same man who was working with me saying they have never charged her more than $39.95. He gave her a silly excuse saying that the labor costs had gone up. She eventually paid her bill, but left upset. So I knew my bill would be expensive as well. The guy tells me the bill would be $46.04. Which is ridiculous. In fact, my first oil change was $32.19 (Jan 2018), my second oil change was $10.37 (May 2018) because I had reward points from previous service I had them do, and then my third oil change in November of last year was $35.42. And today they charged me $46.04, giving me the same excuse that the labor costs went up. And when I read the bill, they didn't rotate my tires which should have been included since I paid for the oil change. This is bogus and I am very unhappy with the level of dishonesty and bad customer service they served me with today. Oh and they didn't even wash my car. In fact, they only washed my car my first visit with them. To say the least, I will be switching to a different Ford dealership. I recommend getting firm pricing on the services you need done beforehand. My honest opinion though? Save your money and find another dealership. read more

This place was literally the worst car place I've ever been to. First this Biden look alike showed us a different car then we went to go see. Then pulled out a second car that was the opposite of everything we wanted to see. Then we told him what we are willing to pay and his ass hole manager comes over and starts yelling at my girl cause we were telling him no. Worked with Jason Conn...great guy, really understanding and helped us look at different options for our next purchase. With Jason's help, and no standard pushy sales techniques, we were able to eliminate some vehicle selections from our search. We did some negotiation on a possible purchase...we did not come to an agreement. We are still in the market for a new vehicle, and I would recommend this dealer and salesman anytime. We have gotten a few calls from the dealer since negotiations fell through. I am still interested, but they seem hard and fast on their price. read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars. I took our 'old' Merc in for the LCM safety recall. When I made the appt I was told the repair would take between a half and full day. They asked that I drop off the car early in the day. When I dropped off the car the service tech joked that this often took two days to repair since he had to rip out the entire dashboard. The tech chuckled when he said they did not work on weekends and my car would probably be there until Monday. * The LCM does not require that the entire dashboard be 'ripped' out to be replaced. * It's not 'funny' to tell a customer that the repair estimate provided over the phone is significantly different than the repair estimate provided by the service tech. There is no excuse to lie to a customer and state the entire dashboard needs to be removed for a repair when the repair is relatively simple. We will make every effort to avoid the sales and repair areas of Joe Cotton Ford. --------------------------------------- After a little research, I am updating the review. The LCM can be removed with two screws that are easily accessible from under the driver's side. A local mechanic indicated it is a two-hour repair by an experienced mechanic. They deserve negative stars! read more

A pretty uneven experience at this dealership. I went in looking for a car for my son who is turning 16. I sent an internet query to the dealership that was returned within 30 minutes. I set an appointment with someone named Marlena but when I arrived at the dealership, I was immediately handed off to Jay. I thought that was a bit odd. But Jay was a really helpful and friendly sales guy. I really liked him. I found a car I wanted to buy but the price was more than I wanted to spend. I was clear on what I wanted to spend and what my timeline was (now). Jay took it to his manager, who entered the scene. I think his name was Bill. Bill took the approach of trying to sell me a NEW car, even though I had been clear with Jay that a new car was not going to be realistic for me since that is not what my wife and I wanted for our son. Bill did not have a counter offer ready for the used car since we were still $1000 apart. He then left the office, came back with something that was a little better and we left it at that. I left without a car. I shopped around some more since a used Ford Focus isn't exactly a one of a kind vehicle and found another car at another dealership and bought it when they would meet my budget. I really liked Jay. Great guy. But the whole "why don't you buy a NEW car" approach really didn't work for me. And I was bummed that they wouldn't get to the price point that I wanted since this dealership is closer to my house. read more

I wish to retract my negative review because Paul Cotton, Owner and General Manager of Joe Cotton Ford expressed great concern with my issue. After his extensive research into the particulars, it was determined an odometer rollback was performed by a lessee to avoid an excess mileage penalty when returning the car to the lessor. The dealership had no knowledge of this action and is fully exonerated from any complicity with the fraud. Mr. Cotton has demonstrated good faith and integrity of the highest order. We use Joe Cotton exclusively for our family's auto needs. Between our family, we have 2 Explorers. a Focus, a Fusion and a F150 all purchased from Joe Cotton. There are only a handful of sales people here, which I appreciate, because I am able to follow up with Roman, our salesperson, easily and he is very helpful with any questions and communication is a breeze. The shining star in the Joe Cotton Ford dealership though, would have to be their service department, ran by Dave Malloy. In April, we purchased a brand new car and this month a used car at Joe Cotton Ford in Carol Stream. This dealership is first class. The car we bought there is wonderful and have no issues. They guy we bought it from (Dan?) was very nice and helpful. He was laid back and put us at ease while also being professional, knowledgeable and nice. Now comes the bad part... They will call you at least three times a month with stupid automated calls. It is anywhere from "happy (insert holiday here) to "new offers" to "charity" . It's infuriating, really, because 4 times I have asked them to stop calling me and they still do. The first 3 times I was nice and they assured me they will stop. The 4th time I asked, I was pretty angry and they still didn't take care of it. I even get emails and junk mail as well. They sent me an "offer card" under my dad's name (I had all his mail fowarded to my house) and he died 3 years ago! I have had to block their number because it was so out of hand. I get that they are trying to be nice and not let you forget about them when you want a new car, but really? Because of this I probably won't buy from them again but I will say our buying experience was excellent and the car was in tip top shape. read more

Terrible place to buy a car at as well as get the car serviced and here is why. Former porter here, working as a porter there I've seen quite a few things that I wish I had taken pictures of that customers never get a look at. Cars would sometimes come in scratched up and as porters we were treated horribly and would be asked to find ways to cover these scratches on the cars and if we couldn't at times we would get yelled at about it. These same cars with the scratches would still be sold to the innocent customers that had no idea about any of this. I've even heard stories of a sharpie being used to cover a scratch on the bumper of a car. This place will go lengths to sell a car. They lie about the discounts being offered if they were to buy a car today and other lies such as limited stock numbers on certain cars when new shipments are constantly coming in. Specially with the elder that come in, its honestly sick. That's only covering the sales side of this dealer. Its also a terrible place to bring the car into for basic service due to the outrageous prices for such simple jobs that can be done for the fraction of the price at many other places. Cars would also be treated poorly at times with doors being slammed into the lifter. While I haven't seen this personally, I have also of heard cars being hit into objects but due to no visible damage customers were never informed. I wrote this review due to how shady this place is and how poorly they treated us as porters. My advice to anyone is to stay as far away from this place as possible. If you do decide to come here to purchase a car make sure to thoroughly inspect the car once the car is fully ready and ready to be driven off the lot. Also, don't buy into there sketchy lies, take as much time as needed before purchasing a car. They will do as much as they can to convince you and pressure you into buying a car. As for those bringing the car for service check for scratches as well and specially by where the door is. I also suggest refusing the car wash as it leaves scratches on the car specially on black cars. They never would clean the car wash machine. read more

When we purchased our 2013 Edge the Finance director guaranteed us that we would get a brake job included in our purchase of the maintenance warranty. I took the edge there for every maintenance visit and when my warranty expired at 76K miles they told me they would not replace brakes under warranty bc they weren't worn down enough. I called the finance manager to discuss and all he could say is that I must be a light breaker. The warranty was a huge waste of money and the finance salesman dishonest. Honestly the worst and I've learned two very important lessons in dealing with this dealership; 1. I'll never buy another Ford as long as I live. 2. I'll NEVER-EVER deal with Joe Cotton Ford again, when a company can't stand behind it's own product and would rather try to make accusations and belittle you (Zak in service) then you've made the wrong choice in product and service. In this case it cost me over two thousand dollars on a car with under 20,000 miles on it that was evaluated and repaired incorrectly between insurance and Joe Cotton Ford, in the end instead of working with the customer it was all about the money and greed. If there was a negative rating I'd rather give that and it's funny how the Joe Cotton Ford website only shows 5 star ratings (what a joke), even standing there waiting for my car it was more important for the service people to stare at their cell phones and talk amongst themselves than deal with me - I even saw the service manager (Dave ?) tell one of the personnel to put an irate customer through to his voicemail versus dealing with her. Service department at this dealership is absolutely horrible, very untrustworthy and poor diagnostic skills. Have brought one vehicle in for multiple warranty repairs on of them a repeating issue. Dealer was very uncooperative when trying to resolve issue. Owner Paul Cotton has an extreme temper when things do not go his way. Have heard this from other locals but ignored them until I experienced first hand. Very disrespectful and not how any Manager should treat a customer. If I could write a review with less than one star, I would. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. After maintaining our car with them the entire time, the transmission in our 2013 Fusion goes out under the 5 YR but 3,000 miles over the 60,000 mile warranty. Do they help us? No, we have to spend hours on the phone with customer service trying to avoid paying $5,100 for a new transmission! Finally, Ford care offers to pay a small portion of it, but that was only since they were price gauging anyway - local mechanic charges $2,500. They also charged me $125 diagnostic fee to tell me this. Really? You can't diagnose a car that you sold me that is essentially a defective product? (NO ONE has a car that drops a transmission that has been properly cared for/maintained with only 63,000 miles!) Oh -- and the cherry on top? We had it in before the warranty was expired for a fuel system issue. They didn't diagnose and repair it properly, so now they want another $400 to fix that. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere. read more

The absolute best service from Butch!!! I was only there to get some m points for test driving a vehicle, and he was straight up with me. I wasn't there to buy a car, but to get my points for test driving. He didn't even make me test drive, gave me what I needed for my points, but told me so much about the hybrid, which I'd never been in, exactly how it works, the federal discounts and how so cool the new hybrids are, that I wished I could've afforded one. No hard sell though!!!!. It was so much more about the education of how the new cars work than the sucky hard sell of decades past!!! We purchased a Ford Fusion Hybrid in 2010. We quickly learned that the dealership spelled my name and my husband's names incorrectly on the Title. Within a year of purchasing the vehicle, I went into the dealership and met with Carmen and gave her all the necessary paperwork to correct the spelling of our names. This is not the place to go for service. I orders the "Works" package. Oil change tire rotation and inspection. I hope I received an oil change and inspection cause my tires were not rotated. What's worse it I don't notice right away. The reason I know that they didn't rotate the tires is I have a scuff on the rim near my gas cap. It's still there. read more
