Sampled the menu here today: four drinks, one traditional Jocko's special, one invisible crust with sausage, and three salad bars. The place was packed which seemed a shock to the wait staff. Our pizza was hot & tasty but didn't fit on the very small table with four of us. My besties gave the invisible crust pizza a whirl due to her gluten allergies..... the said she'd rename it to be "pizza soup" because it was easiest to eat with a spoon. Salad bar was better than most but at $7 per person (no discount with any other items ordered) it seemed like a steep price for the location and options. There was a line to the salad bar that deterred many folks from repeat trips- perhaps this is part of the business plan?!? Overall, pizza was tasty but the other details subtract from the overall rating. May likely have been a once in a million combination as many other reviews are more favorable. read more

After a five hour drive my friend and I arrived at Jocko's fifteen minutes before close. Nobody rushed our order to get us to leave and they told us we could dine in and take our time despite the late hour. We both ordered a Monday special which was a very well priced large pizza. The crust was great, slightly greasy but among the best for a Chicago style. The sauce was just right, not too much seasoning but neither bland. Traveling through Danville, we were directed to Jocko's by a local and since it was only a short drive from our motel we decided to go for it. During what was ultimately a 3-week vacation that covered 15 states this was the worst single meal we had--including the canned ravioli we ate in the rain in Yellowstone. It started with the waitress, Cayla, who was so busy socializing that it was 15 minutes before she approached us. Then, after she finally took down our orders she stopped to converse at two other tables--not working, just having friendly personal conversations (we know because she spoke loudly enough we could hear)--totaling nearly another 10 minutes before she got around to taking our order into the kitchen. Cayla is clearly very popular in Danville. At my house: not so much. Still, we're thinking, it's a small town place, a Wednesday night, why be uptight?--the food was going to be great, and---wrong. About an hour after being seated we were served. My wife got spaghetti with chili on it, which she thought was novel and, to be fair, she enjoyed. One of my daughters got the regular spaghetti, however, and it was foul--topped with something she compared to "watered down ketchup, but sweeter"--and not not nearly enough of it to cover the noodles. My other daughter and i got the worst of it, however: we went against our better judgement and ordered the "New York Style Pizza." No New Yorker would ever have recognized what we got as pizza. The crust was about 3/4" thick and gooey, not at all crisp--and it tasted like one of those frozen loaves of white bread dough had been rolled into a circle and cooked on a sheet--just a chewy blob of white dough. I shudder to think what the thicker, regular crust was like. We recognized the sauce, however--the same goop that was on Daughter #1's spaghetti. The whole mess was covered with a stiff layer of econo-style cheese. I've had better pizza at school cafeterias. Indeed, Jocko's has the distinction of being the second worst pizza I've ever eaten in my life, and only because Jocko's was cooked through (the #1 worst had better sauce). The positive reviews that helped us chose Jocko's baffle me--if this is what Danville thinks of as good pizza, then I feel badly for Danville. The trains were cool, though. read more

Fun place for kids. They have an overhead train track in the main dinning room. You put a quater in and two trains run around the room. - Ask to sit in the train room if you have kids. Tuesdays is all you can eat spaghetti night. it was good spaghetti and cheap. Adults meal is 5.49 and kids meal is less, but kids is only one helping. The one helping is plenty though. They really simp on the sauce so ask for extra sauce on it and they will even bring you an extra bowl of it to the table if you ask. They seem to have a nice local wine selection and premium beer selection, but there's no menu for this and no one seemed to know what "other" wine they had beyond what was on the menu, even though it states to ask about local wine and premium beer. The temperature was way too hot. Everyone was sweaty and uncomfortable at our table, but it was very busy and there were a lot of people which lead to the heat. Also, many of the local customers (regulars) were older and didn't seem to mind the temp as they had on sweaters. So the owners may be cattering to yhe older crowd...which is thoughtful and nice. Just don't dress warm if you don't like being hot when eating. It only really bothered me because I hate seeing sweat on my servers forehead as she brings me my food. Thier pizza is really good although we didn't get any tonight because of thier special. Drink service and return trips to the table was slow, but again, they were very busy. A must visit with kids. Great food with a very nice small town local family owned flair. If you're in Danville check this place out. read more

Jocko's Pizza Inn is a family-friendly pizza joint that is done in railroad decor--there is a bunch of railroad memorabilia on the walls, some old train photographs and a miniature train circling overhead in the main diningroom. The thin crust and New York style pizzas are both very good--the New York Style is probably the best in town. Don't miss it when they are serving the sourdough crust. The calzones are as good as the pizza. The sandwiches and pasta are more of a miss than the pizza, but still more than adequate. But I'm a frequent visitor to the salad bar for lunch for the fresh soups (the broccoli cheese and vegetable are particularly good), along with fresh vegetables, hand crumbled bacon bits and homemade croutons. read more

I have never been charged for additional dressing for my salad nowhere, but here. If there had been enough dressing to wet the salad to begin with, I would not have needed any additional. I see nowhere on your menu where it is stated that there would be a charge for additional dressing, I did see a charge for additional sauces for the garlic sticks. Food was inexpensive. Good salad bar. Kids meals only included soda and not milk. That's ridiculous. There needs to be a healthier included option for kids. There is a train running around a track on the ceiling but you have to keep putting quarters in a box to make it move. Other places we've been too with a train always have it moving. This is basically extracting parent's money every time their kids see it stop. Also the place mats are entirely covered with advertisements. I'd rather not be marketed to if I sit down to eat a meal. Went there for the first time in a long time with my husband and their roast beef was very good! Their au jus was better than most I've had. My husband had the buffalo chicken wrap which he enjoyed. Worse experience I have ever had. My wife and myself ordered the salad bar and my 10 year old got the kids pizza. We decided to let my oldest boy have a desert and cottage cheeses and we got charged for it. I'm ok with that. What I'm not ok with is they charged me for giving my 2 year old 2 bites of a desert and they charge me for that. He has an eating disorder so he barely eats. The waitress and manager did not even want to heat this and said it wAs there policy not sharing. I understand but 2 small bites. Come on. I asked for a military discount and they said no very rude. Very nice stucco building. We were seated and was served by a young man, Dakottah. We were late for the lunch special but could have partook in all you can eat spaghetti, which was a nice price. Menu had a nice selection. At our table we had chicken Alfredo, sausage pizza and meatball calzone with side salad-after I saw hey had an amazing looking salad bar. Going to come back to try that for sure. One persons breadsticks were doughy the other perfect. Pizza was pretty good-a little pricey for individual but good. My meatball calzone was bursting with meatballs. They were good. Could of had a little more olive oil/garlic Parmesan crust but it was good. Our family has loved and patronized Jocko's for many years, but no more. Two of us ordered the salad bar, which is usually outstanding in quality, cleanliness and taste. This day (mid-afternoon, not at all busy) we should have looked at the bar before ordering. Dirty bar, substandard quality, dirty plates, no spoons for the soup (and when we asked we got a snotty, "I'll be right back"), then the spoons she brought out were dirty. Our waitress was in such a hurry from the beginning, I don't think we could identify her in a lineup. I reported our disappointment to the manager, and she removed one of the bars from our bill. In hindsight, we should have seen all the signs and left without ordering. We're very disappointed in Jocko's. read more

Our waitress was very good and the hostess was very nice. We had a large party. I wish I could say the same for the manager. She was very rude to me when I asked how much longer it might be after waiting for 45 minutes. She said, I can't help it when people get up to leave, there's nothing I can do, and walked away. Very unprofessional. And then the hostess walked up 2 minutes later, smiling and said, I have a table for you! So clearly she didn't communicate with the staff. I will say it was the Saturday of memorial weekend so the crew might not have been the best but the food was at best mediocre. Appetizers Wings were small. Mozzarella bites not well described. Well this is good and bad. one of the 2 best salad bars in Danville! The train is great for the kids, I love it too! If you are a connoisseur of good Italian food, I wouldn't delve into the offerings here. The Italian Beef Sandwich is certainly respectable. The Pizza used to be the best in Danville, then, for whatever reason, (which I know is none of my business) came the split with the Village Inn franchise, too bad!!! Tooo Bad!!!! I don't order pizza any more! Go early if you are planning to order soup and salad bar, other wise the soup will be gone, and or scorched on the bottom, and that just doesn't taste good. We do enjoy this restaurant, the ambiance is warm with just the right amount or railroad nostalgia. I would really like to give this place 5 stars, but I just can't do it, sorry. read more

I have been going to Jocko's for about 15 years now. I get to the Danville area a few times a year and always make a point to have a meal there. The place has great pizza (I love the pepperoni, sausage and jalapenos) and the service has always been fast and friendly. I also enjoy making a salad at their salad bar. The location is always clean and the employees are friendly. The model train that runs overhead is a really cool touch. Kids really seem to love that feature. read more

Diamond in the rough...neighborhood. We did not enjoy our stay in Danville, our saving grace was our takeout dinner that night from Jockos. Options were slim for decent takeout at the late hours of 07:30 on a Saturday night!?!?! (which we found out upon calling around.) I was pleasantly surprised upon my arrival to pick up our order. Place was clean, staff was great, and food was superb for the price. If you ever have to be stuck in Danville, at least brighten up your trip a little with a stop at Jockos! read more
