This office did not verify whether labs were in-network for my insurance, and the office manager is…read moreextremely difficult to reach and does not return calls reliably. I went in for a sinus infection culture over 6 months ago, and the sample was sent to an out-of-network lab. This resulted in a large charge that, after speaking with my insurance, I should not have been responsible for. The situation escalated to the point where the lab sent the bill to collections. Because of this experience, I would not return to this provider. Patients have to be able to trust that office staff are knowledgeable about insurance networks and that they will communicate clearly if issues arise. That did not happen here. Overall, this was an unfortunate experience, and I was dissatisfied with both the handling of my care and the lack of follow-up.

I struggle with this review because I don't have negative things to say about Dr. Fong herself, or…read moreher staff. All people who treated me were kind and professional. But I am frustrated with two things leading to my poor review. One is the hour+ long wait time I had upon my arrival even though I showed up 10 minutes early as requested, which is frustrating when the only appointment availabilities are during working hours. The second frustration I had was the office's inability to provide me a an estimate for how much the visit would cost, despite having asked several times. I am a fairly basic patient - first time visit with an endoscopy, yet no one could tell me what the before-insurance estimate would be. Even a rough guess. The whole visit was only 20 minutes or so. I came in with a runny nose and they looked up for a total of three minutes to tell me I probably just had allergies. I left, unknowingly, with a $1,124 bill! I understand everyone has different insurance plans. I know my own coverage quite well. If someone had told me the cost pre-insurance, I could have done the math and gladly shopped for cheaper specialists. But to wait an hour just to have someone tell me I basically have allergies and then hand me a $1,100 bill is a great summation of why the healthcare system is broken in America and how specialists take advantage of people just trying to stay healthy. You have been warned: if you make a ton of dough or have a great insurance plan, Dr. Fong could be good for you. But for the rest of working class America who doesn't want to see half their paycheck vanish with a 3-minute endoscopy, keep shopping.

Utter medical negligence by this so called team. I was anticipating a change in pharmacy benefits…read moreand a change in medication with the new year. I met with Dr. Jacobs on December 12 to go over the changes so we could get the ball rolling and not have a delay in my immune treatment which I require every 3 weeks to stay healthy due to a serious immune disorder. He assured me that it would be handled well. Then almost month later I call back and find out nothing has been done. The office didn't have a new script from the Dr. The contract worker they had hired to deal with insurance benefits at the office still didn't know I had a new pharmacy benefits provider. She was trying to order the old medication from the old benefits provider. So I spent the next two weeks on the phone for entire days - leaving messages, waiting on hold, coordinating between nursing staff (bc the dr was now on vacation), the independent contractor who didn't understand my insurance change, my pharmacy benefits provider and the pharmacy filing the order. Babysitting grown adults who are getting paid to apparently not do their jobs. The office at first admitted to dropping the ball, then they each slowly started to blame other people in the office and I realized what a toxic dysfunctional mess the whole operation was. Perhaps they once were good - the vast majority of these five star reviews are many years old. Today, I think they can handle routine allergy shots. That's their bread and butter. Anything more is a deep stretch for their abilities. In the end I finally got my medication two weeks late and it would have been even later if I hadn't borrowed a medical pump to use from a complete stranger. This was an incredibly stressful process that would have been avoided if people at this office understood how to do their jobs.

While my I still had allergies my first year, they were much improved and I didn't need a steroid injection. I'm not even at my maintenance dose yet, so I'm very hopeful that next year will be even better.
