Quality care by one of the best doctors in this field. She is very compassionate and spends as much time as you need.

Dr Watson is ok. I expected to get a John Muir oncologist when my wife went to emergency room but…read morethey assign patients to oncologists depending who is on duty that day. The real downside of this practice is they have by far the most unprofessional support staff I have ever encountered in the bay area. I will not go into detail but after leaving several messages for the dr to return my calls, only one request was answered. I also do not care for Dr Watson's partner or her PA staff. Their commitment to patient and family needs is abysmal. My wife has her last appointment with Dr Watson tomorrow. Although I think she is at a stage where there is very little upside, we will be having all future appointments with a Dr in the John Muir Cancer Center.

Came across as arrogant, zero compassion, had not prepared by reading the case information, materially misread the surgery report & had to be corrected by the patient. Did not explain or ask sufficient questions. Office was messy, outdated and no online form option. He allows his large Weimaraner dog to wander through the office, into the small patient rooms and jump up onto the patient beds without even asking if the patient is ok with dogs. There's more, but to summarize, I was shocked at how bad this was. We promptly went to a different oncologist who is providing a very professional, high quality experience. I would not recommend Diablo Valley Oncology as an employer. My time there was, unfortunately, the…read moreworst experience of my professional career. I encountered an environment that was unprofessional and lacking in basic respect and kindness. Despite my ability to work well with a wide range of personalities and teams, I was met with hostility and poor treatment by members of my department. I believe everyone deserves a workplace culture rooted in mutual respect, and that was not my experience here. That said, I walked away with an important lesson: some situations are not worth fighting for, and protecting your own well-being must come first.

This is such a difficult job, dealing with patients who quite often won't be around too long, but the nurses, assistants and doctors all tried everything that my insurance would approve. There were a lot of times that treatments or procedures were denied. My wife's cancer was vicious and aggressive. She tried every probably every chemo or immunotherapy on the market, did radiation multiple times, did infusions, had surgeries, and they always did their best to keep her truthfully informed, and keep her spirits up, even when the news wasn't good. Now my wife generally hates going to the doctor, but a trip to Diablo Valley was more like talking with friends for her. Now I will say to ask questions, and get all copies reports for yourself, so you can go home, and read and learn about what is happening. I think it was difficult doing this, but made everything make sense about what was happening. When you have a little knowledge about your treatment and conditions, the decisions are much easier to make in my opinion. I will miss my wife more than I can explain, but I truly believe they did their best to take care of Jerusha. Rest In Peace.
