Decided to get back into fleecing blankets with fringed ends. Visited Joann Fabrics looking for clearance fabrics and specific blanket I looked up online. Service 3/5 Service was helpful and personable enough. Selection 3/5 It would have been nice if they had more solid colors in clearance. I looked up some fabric which I didn't find once I arrived. it very disorganized and not grouped together so that didn't help however it was decently priced items in clearance. Everything else was pretty pricey. They didn't have many crochet kits for adults either. They did carry predestined crochets sets which was nice. Michael's no longer carry those. Overall 3/5 not too bad and would return if I had more time to browse their selections. read more

Understaffed, dirty floors, bolts jammed in with fabric pulled down, no bobbins for my sewing machine and the employee said she didn't know how to help me figure out if the bobbins they had matched the one I brought. After wandering among the aisles of fabric, I asked if they have a section of 100% cotton jersey fabrics. Nope, I'd have to pull every single bolt to check for the fabric type (after about 10, I quit). I meant to buy a walking foot for my sewing machine, but with the lack of help I decided I'd be better off going online or to a better run fabric store. If you're newer to sewing, this is not the place to get any help. read more

The store looked terrible inside , I get it's the holidays but there was stuff thrown around in the store . Now I know why I don't go .. there was a pile of charts right when you leave the check out looks like returns needing to be placed back overflowing .. there was only one cashier although she was very nice . I can usually find whatever I need here, and it is a convenient location. Parking is easy as it is a lot, the shelves were a bit bare when I went the other day (but to be expected with shortages). The staff is usually friendly and helpful. The biggest issue I have, is that the sales signs are not always posted or are not correct - which is a corporate issue due to the amount of sales they have at once & it can be very hard to keep up with them as an employee. This location has a large fabric and floral section, and a good amount of items for all other craft supplies. read more

I only go to Joann Fabrics when I need some seasonal decor or fabric. The store is hard to find exactly what you are looking for and prefer to go to Michaels to be in and out quick. The fabric counter is better now that they added a paper number system and you can shop while in line. They will yell your number over the intercom, but you should be close. Sadly, the coupon program requires you to download the JoAnn app... meh! The staff has been friendly each time I visit though so that's a plus. read more

I've been away for a few years and could not believe how horrible the store looked. it was actually filthy! Does anyone care about appearance and cleanliness anymore. I thought he store was going out of business and they just stopped caring!! Maple Grove shops were nice and clean at one time...get back to it or close the store. read more

UNBELIEVABLE!!! The wait time to cut and check out was ridiculous. 2 clerks cutting and one clerk and her customer thought they were the only people in the store. Customer was using the clerk as a sewing instructor and consultant.....I've worked in a fabric store and if a customer wanted me to show them how to sew, I'd say come in at opening when I'm not sooo busy and there wouldn't be many people waiting!!! Then the check out line was 1/2 block long and only 2 clerks!!! Not a pleasant time !!! Many people were complaining but since I was from out of town rushing to do a huge upholstery project for my granddaughter, I desperately needed the items I was purchasing! Everyone's time is valuable; it should be company policy to help ALL customers, not cater to one! Both clerk and customer should be considerate of others!!! Very frustrating!!!! read more

Awful customer service in the sewing machine department. Apparently asking questions and disagreeing with the sales associate isn't allowed because she knows everything. She got very snotty and defensive when I told her I preferred one machine over another, because the one I wanted "just isn't available to her". I will order the machine I want on the website, but not happy. read more

When this store first opened 20 years ago, it was clean and organized with helpful staff and many classes to learn a variety of crafts. Over the years it's gone downhill. They need to invest in the store infrastructure - the store is FILTHY. The check out areas look like they've gone through a ransacking - sheetrock posts are damaged, counters are missing paneling, visible dirt lines the floor, the walls need to be painted, flooring needs to replaced, and shelves/stock needs to be dusted. This store would be great if they'd go through a thorough cleaning and reorganization. Just throwing products in baskets is not cleaning up. I totally understand craft stores can get messy - but this level of grime is surprising. I'm guessing lack of improvements is due to theft, but I'm disappointed that this store has fallen so far - it really needs some love by the owners and employees to become a place crafters flock to rather than flee from. read more

This is long but I feel like I should share. I was so disappointed by my trip today. I am a novice and needed help figuring out what to buy to make my son a blanket. I had to take a number and wait to be helped, because that's the only way I could get helped by someone "at the cutting counter." I knew I wanted 100% cotton fabric, so one lady was nice and showed me different options, and told me to come back up when I was ready. So I go back up, had to take another number and wait... I was "helped" by a different worker, and I explained that I was making a blanket, but never done this before and asked her what she recommended. She said, "whatever you want." She acted like I was bothersome. Finally I just made a decision. Long story short, before I left I found out I needed some "filler." So I went back to the counter (took another number), waited, and lucked out with the terrible lady from before. I asked for help, explaining that I don't know what I am doing, or what I am looking for in particular. All she would do is point me to the shelves where the backing was. Again I pointed out that I didn't know what I should get, and she just said, "well go look at them." I couldn't believe it. She was rude and entirely unhelpful. I'll never go back there. read more

I had a terrible experience at this Jo-Ann Fabric tonight. Before going in, I looked at an item online. I decided to just go into the store to buy it, because I wanted to look at different colors; however, I knew exactly what I wanted and how much it would cost. I found the item quickly and ended up buying several of them in different colors. I double checked the sign to make sure I knew the price and it was the same as online. Upon checking out the items rang up as $3.99 instead of $2.99, which means in total I'd be spending $10 more than expected. I told the woman that it was cheaper online and that I double checked the sign. Her response was, "No, I've always known this item to be $3.99." ... to that I responded, "Well, your website and the sign say otherwise." She had her manager double check, and the manager said the sign said $3.99. That couldn't be possible, so I went back and looked at the sign. It said $2.99!! I took a picture of the sign and brought it up front and showed them again. I also showed them the item online which said $2.99. They were both incredibly rude and acted like there was nothing they could do in the system, and frankly they were acting like I was crazy. How could I be wrong when the sign AND the website said a different price than it was ringing up for? I just couldn't believe how rude they were being to me, making me feel so stupid when in fact it was the complete opposite. They ended up giving me the discount, but I will never shop at this location again. I'll definitely be going to another location or a different store completely. read more

Parking is pretty good. This location is pretty big. I love their selections and sales. Though, it can be overwhelming when you have so many other customers waiting to have their fabric cut. Some employers don't ask me for help, but ask others, but that's okay, I usually will seek for assistance if I need it. Most times, I like to shop in peace. read more

Jo-Ann Fabrics is loaded with nice fabrics, craft goods and jewelry making goods. Similar to Michael's, Jo-Ann's is larger, has more selection and of course, fabric. Additionally, Jo-Ann also offers a large variety of crafting classes for students at every level--from cake making to learning to make pillows or pajama pants, you can spend a small amount of money and improve your craftiness too. While I think that the selection and merchandise at Jo-Ann is great, the customer service at Michael's is much better. I spent a lot of time in Jo-Ann's wandering around looking for the items I came to purchase. After several (three separate) trips to ask employees at the customer service desk where the things I needed were, I was VERY frustrated. No one likes to roam a big box retailer, and feel like there's no one on the floor to help answer their questions. The unwillingness of the employees to provide helpful service sucked. High marks for selection. High marks for variety. Lowest possible marks for customer service. read more

Store is filthy, the employees are rude and have no idea what they are doing. Everything is cluttered and not where it belongs. I went in to get a Cricut machine and no one had a clue about them or any of the Cricut accessories, mats, tools etc. One employee in particular, Lilly, was rude and nasty. She rang us up without even saying a word to us, after we paid, she handed us the receipt and walked away. She didn't bag any of our purchase, or even say thank you, not a single word. I threw my stuff in the cart myself and left. Had the Cricut Explore Air 2 in the color Pistachio been available elsewhere, I would have left without making a purchase. I will never set foot in that store again. I can get anything I need on the internet or any of Joann Fabrics competitors! Bad customer service has been the death sentence for many companies the last several years, I won't be surprised when Joann Fabrics is next.. read more

I like this Jo-Ann's because it is the bigger Etc. version, meaning more variety. It also seems cleaner than most of the Jo-Ann's. I have really come to love their button selection. Prices are good, especially if you are on their mailing list and receive their 40% off coupons every week or so. The long longs could use improvement, but overall, I am usually pretty happy shopping here. read more

Wow just like the other guy on this site I too had a bad experience with the ladies back on the desk. Don't know how this place stays in business. Vacant big store next door closed. Waited a good 8-10 minutes to get help no luck as there was only one person helping a customer buying quiet a bit of fabric. Finally left came back 3days later got some help told to go back to counter same deal no help one person taking care of some one waited still no help. Horrible service, my mother and I went a few weeks ago and the cashier took FOREVER to ring up our purchase. There were many people working, but the phone rang mid-transaction and the cashier had a long conversation with the caller, despite another assassinated being right next to the checkout lane and the phone. I love Joanns, one of my favorite stores. I'm a crafty person and I have two girl scout troops, so I shop here a lot! The Maple Grove store happens to be by my work, so I visit this one the most. I have been shopping here for a few years now and never had a problem until today. I actually had to interact with the store manager and she was a real jerk. Someone who should not have that job! She was pretty rude and didn't help at all. I won't detail it, but even the poor employee who was checking me out seemed put off by her. Unfortunate. Of course I will continue to go there, but I hope I never have a problem again. read more

I am so done with the Maple grove Joann's! EVERY time I go in the that store I have to wait in this insanely long line to check out! Today was the last straw! I stood in line for a good 20 minutes while two people rang customers up. One lady wouldn't stop talking, she took at least 15 minutes dinking around, looking for coupons. I finally walked over and asked the other cashier if there was anyone else available to help ring, and Lilly rudely said "no". SERIOUSLY that big store and nobody else can ring!?!? I have been a loyal customer for years, but the waiting in line has gotten worse over time and I have better things to do then stand in line because they are to lazy to get more people to ring, like go to Hobby Lobby or Walmart!!! Joann Fabrics has lost a customer, and I will be letting everyone I know how bad they are! Done! read more

Nice large location and helpful/polite employees for the most part. This is the second time I have been in the store in the last month, and have heard Sue be difficult, verbally rude (mumbling in frustration while helping customers), and rolling her eyes at customers questions and inquiries. Am convinced Patty at the cutting counter was purposely trying to ruin our night. I have never been "helped" by someone so rude. Came in with a friend to get fabrics for tie blankets. The store was dead on a Friday night. We found the fleece wall and selected our fabrics and moved on to the cutting counter. We were "helped" after taking a number but helped is a strong word. She was pleasant for about 30 seconds when we were asking her about the recommended yardage for a nice tie blanket. We decided on our length and decided to both do the same fabric. After we decided on the same fabric, she asked us if we'd return the other rolls to the shelf as she had a lot of work to do leftover from the previous shift. We asked if there was enough on the roll for 2 blankets and she said no. So we went back to find a different one. About 3 mins later, Patty comes to find us to tell us that there was, in fact, enough for two blankets on the same roll. My friend, excitedly, said "seriously?!" And I kid you not, Patty mocked her by rolling her eyes and saying "seriously?!, yes seriously" in a horrible tone. We continue back to the counter to finish our purchase. It was going to be all on one ticket but since we were doing two different blankets, we asked her if she'd cut it in half so we wouldn't have to at home. She said no. Just kept stating that it's "sub cutting" and they don't do that. We clearly didn't understand what she was referring to. We ended up having to pay in two separate transactions so she'd cut it in half for us. Horrible experience at the cutting counter. Only reason I gave 2 stars is that Lilly at the checkout counter was very friendly and helpful!! There was a slight hiccup because we were charged for someone else's fabric in addition to our own but it was easily returned by Lilly with no muss or fuss. read more

This Jo-Ann is one of the larger ones. I've always been able to find everything I need at this location. The people are always nice at Jo-Ann, but I think especially nice at this one. It's always well-kept and I've not had any extra long lines at this location. It all just seems to go smooth at this particular location for me. And I've been to a lot of Jo-Ann locations!! It is a little dark in parts of the store. Can't figure out what's going on with that, but that's the only semi-bad thing I have to say, yet they still get 5 stars! read more
