Jo Ann did my hair and makeup for my wedding over the summer. She even traveled up to Big Bear with her assistant. Most of my girls and my mother went with her as well. I have to admit she was a little higher in price than what I was planning. But she was worth every penny and I would do it all over again. She listens to what you want and does have suggestions but in the end, she just wants you to look amazing and make you happy. I felt amazing and gorgeous. She does amazing with airbrush and her makeup. I would highly recommend going with her. I also did the trial, which regardless who you go with, you need a trial. So I just got married this past Saturday and was going to do my makeup at MAC but my mom found Jo Ann on yelp, I was nervous at first because I am really picky about my make up. I hardly like wearing makeup. but Jo Ann was so personal and asked me questions about my self instead of just doing what ever she wanted to my face. You could tel make up is her passion. I would like to start off by saying that Jo Ann is an amazing makeup artist, as you can see in the photos she has talent. I will not deny she is a top notch makeup artist; however she is not a top notch business owner. My best friend was recently married in Twin Peaks near Lake Arrowhead. As a bridesmaid I helped my friend find a makeup artist and we found Jo Ann on Yelp and fell in love with her work, the Bride called her and was happy to learn that Jo Ann would make the trip to Twin Peaks for the wedding. She set up a trial run of the makeup and fell in love. One worry for the wedding was now over, and we could focus on the other stresses. The day of as many of you planning a wedding know was a little stressful, the big day upon us the bride was nervous, family was around and we were dealing with minor things that were coming up, the last issue we thought we would have would be with the makeup artist. Jo Ann arrived on time 11am and went straight to work on the mother of the groom, then the maid of honor then the mother of the bride, and she was asked if she could help fix the groom and one of the groom's men who had sun burn from a round of golf the day before. Jo Ann was scheduled from 11am -4pm and she was making good time, she finished all of the bridal party that was scheduled plus a few extras, and was ready to work on the bride. This is where the issues came into play the wedding was at 5:21pm and the bride wanted to do her makeup as late as possible at 3pm as was disused, Jo Ann wanted to do her make up right away because the other were finished and she ( as she told us) is paid by the person and not the hour. When the bride asked can you add another bridesmaid and do her makeup before me, Jo Ann became rather upset and actually a bit aggressive she turned to the bride and said "Don't tell me how to do my job. I don't get paid by the hour I get paid by the person." Now you would think if your business was by the person and not by the hour you would be pleased that you were getting more money, Jo Ann was not. She was extremely aggressive and got in the brides face, which was the last thing she needed on her wedding day. Jo Ann made her cry; it was appalling to watch my best friend crying on her wedding day apologize to her makeup artist for giving her more clients which equaled more money. As I stated earlier Jo Ann has an amazing talent, she is truly an artist....she isn't the most compassionate business owners nor is she someone I would recommend for your wedding day. The last thing anyone should have to deal with is someone in your face on your wedding day. As a business professional I understand that sometimes you need to take a moment before you speak and think about your client and why you are there. The saddest part of all of this is she did great work, her attitude took away from it though as she also took away from the brides special day. read more
