A long list of renovations included brand new beautiful hardwood floors, full kitchen renovations, full bathroom renovations, plumbing and electrical upgrades all around, beautiful marble countertops, tuck pointing, window replacements, a ton of trim carpentry and painting. In our opinion, he has definitely filled the Dream Contractor title. HBG's primary objective is to make their customers happy and fulfilled about their home projects, which they have achieved, bar none. HBG is a highly professional, and more importantly, trustworthy company. Anthony is patient, communicative, and courteous, and always showed a high level of responsiveness and respect. What was supposed to be a partial renovation, addressing 2/3 of the interior of our home, turned into a full interior renovation. We couldn't be more pleased with the results! Anthony and HBG transformed our house from a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom problematic, older house into a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom lovely dwelling space that we get to call home. That's because Anthony was present and carefully listening to our wants and needs -- allowing us to realize what the transformational possibilities. Anthony was always there every step of the way, and treated every task and installation as though it was being applied to his own home. Anthony always offered simple, straightforward solutions, whether prior to project begin date or toward the end of it. We heard from Anthony every day and we were given an update on the work, costs, the budget, and any changes (if needed) in a very timely manner. He was very flexible to anything from last minute changes to what we thought would be impossible feats. His attention to detail is also what sets him apart from many of the other contractors we'd come across. He has great taste and did not hesitate to express his honest opinion about design/aesthetic decisions. He was very workable on budget and costs. Shout out to his team - every day were so polite, treated us with a lot of respect and consideration. Thank you Anthony and Hudson Building Group for transforming our home, and making our dreams come true! We would recommend Anthony and HBG without reservation.

I've had to re-post this review a few times now ... somehow my negative reviews of Goldman Home…read moreImprovement keep vanishing from Google, Angi/Home Advisor and Yelp, leaving only 5-star reviews. I don't know how he does that, but I insist on re-posting because I feel you need to hear about my experience before deciding on something as important as a contractor for your home. For starters, Hussein Hussein of Goldman Home Improvement is NOT LICENSED to conduct home renovations in NY State. The license number he listed on his contract is not only expired; it was never a general contractor's license, it was a SALES license. NYS is cracking down on sales people pretending to be GC's, so his license will never be renewed. I urge you to call 311 and check for yourself if you are considering hiring this company. After working with him for almost 4 months I can attest: While Hussein clearly has a gift for sales (he could sell ocean water to a fish!), he lacks the basic knowledge of how a home works structurally; he's only capable of doing the surface aesthetic stuff. For example, I asked him to create tray ceilings in my bedrooms, and showed him many pictures of what a tray ceiling looks like. He removed the ceiling beams ... and then he obviously had no clue what to do next!! He kept staring at the ceiling, then looking at me, then back at the ceiling. Finally, he uttered: "There is no way to reinforce the beams. I cannot guarantee the ceiling will not fall in on you." I kid you not, these were his actual words!!! The contractor I hired to finish the job confirmed that, sure enough, had Hussein finalized my apt, the ceiling would have indeed buckled and fallen in!!! Additionally, Hussein could care less about the efficiency of your home (even though HE was the one who insisted I put in central AC instead of mini-splits, he refused to insulate the whole apartment, despite it being on my dime); he won't even consider doing anything that's out of the norm (I asked him to add soundproofing--again, at my expense--he absolutely refused); he uses the cheapest, unqualified trades (his plumber pitched the plumbing away from the drain, so the water has to travel against gravity!!!); and he uses only cheap materials (he works exclusively with Floor and Decor). When I hired Hussein to conduct a complete gut of my Brooklyn apt, I made the huge mistake of paying him a substantial portion up front ($50,000). After 3.5 months, he had not put in a new kitchen, new bathrooms, or new laundry room. He never replaced my floors, doors, windows or fireplace. He did not deliver central air conditioning as promised, nor did he upgrade my electric panel. He completed about 8% of the scope of work items outlined in the contract, but retained 45% of the payment, and refuses to refund me. My attorney tells me I have a solid case of breach of contract. Worse: THE FEW THINGS HUSSEIN COMPLETED WERE EXECUTED SO POORLY, IT ALL HAD TO BE DEMOLISHED AND RE-DONE. The tray ceiling had to be completely reconstructed and reinforced. The skylight he installed leaked heavily at the first rain, and had to be replaced. The hatch ladder he installed makes it impossible to access my roof -- the whole point of the ladder -- without being an olympic gymnast!! The walls he framed were wobbly. And Hussein instructed me to NOT tell the electrician -- the guy who was upgrading my electric panel -- that I'd be adding a washer, dryer, dishwasher, and air conditioning "because he will charge too much money". Seriously?? How does one upgrade the electrical panel without communicating ones electric needs to the electrician? When I confronted him on these issues, he reacted with mercurial temper--HE QUIT! So I was forced to bring in a qualified contractor mid-project to un-do all the damage Hussein had done and start over -- effectively DOUBLING my renovation budget and timeline! And now I'm mired in a lawsuit. Spare yourself the nightmare, go elsewhere!!

I also wanted the air conditioner sleeves removed from the brick face and the bricks infilled to match the existing brick face. John, the owner, worked with me to do the job in the manner I requested. For the four built-in air conditioner wall sleeve units to be removed I wanted all the half bricks adjacent to the window sleeves replaced as I did not want to leave "scars" on the brick face where the sleeves used to exist. John went out of his way to source bricks that matched the multicolored bricks used in my home that was built some 65 years ago going to several masonry suppliers to source bricks that best matched. The results were just what I requested and envisioned. The company also repaired two balconies and replaced broken and cracked bricks throughout my home. The work was very professional and John's crew was very respectful of my home. The price for all the work was very reasonable and there were no surprises regarding the contract price we agreed upon for the job. Also, John kept me informed of progress and issues in a timely manner and was receptive to any questions I had regarding the work. I was informed of the quality and brand names of the materials to be used, especially for the bonding of new concrete that was applied to existing concrete and the stainless steel mesh used in the repair of the concrete patios. Each day, before leaving at the end of the day, the crew cleaned up the job site and left the area broom swept. The work was done to a very high professional standard and because of this my neighbor is using Capital Home Improvement and Home Design to remove their air conditioner window sleeves and infill with brick - the same as done on my home. John informed me of the start day for the work on my home and continued the work until the job was completed. When the rainy weather did not allow work to continue, John offered, at my option, to work on Saturday and Sunday at no additional charge. I accepted and we were able to use those sunny weekend days to keep the job on schedule. John went over the working hours with me before starting the job. Each day the crew arrived on time and worked until the end of the day. I observed that the crew worked safely and diligently. You could tell that the entire crew knows their craft and that they worked well together. I found Capital Home Improvement and Home Design when they were working on two neighbors homes replacing stairs that led to the second floor and that had the first floor entrance within the steps. I saw that they did a great job matching the bricks and that the work was neat and professional. I also saw that they made sure the portion of the steps that included the first floor entry was professionally waterproofed to ensure no water infiltrated into the first floor entryway. I was very impressed and I chose this company because of the work I saw that they did for my neighbors. I can recommend Capital Home Improvement and Home Design without reservation. They are an honest professional company that does what they say they will do, cares about their reputation and wants to ensure their customers are satisfied. I highly recommend this company for your masonry lintel and brick replacement.

They involved the reconstruction of a front decorative flagstone walkway, step stairs and the construction of a new brownstone / limestone retaining wall, both which turned out wonderfully. As an Architect I am most particular about the planning, detailing and execution of this type of work, with a critical eye towards aesthetics and quality, as well as protecting the adjacent property during construction and cleaning up on a daily basis. I am happy to relate that my working experience with Mo and his masons on these projects has been most enjoyable and satisfying. He has the passion and knowledge for making his projects appealing and complimentary to the respective house, property and neighborhood, using the most appropriate materials, finishes and colors. He appreciates a challenging project (ours) and a demanding client (me) and contributes his creative ideas and masonry construction knowledge and experience in a collaborative effort that results in a finished project that is better than originally conceived. He knows when to ask questions vs. making assumptions and does not take short cuts that may compromise the beauty or longevity of the completed work. I highly recommend Mo Soliman and Curb Appeal Design for this type of detailed masonry work for discerning homeowners.

When we were ready to redo our deck, we knew we wanted Curb Appeal Design to do this project. The owner, Mo, was fantastic from start to finish. He came to our home to evaluate the job. In speaking with Mo, we decided to build a waterproof patio under the new deck and add a retaining wall with stairs to access the patio. We also wanted to add significant lighting. Mo made himself available to meet us at the supply store to pick out the materials. We needed composite decking, aluminum railing, lighting, blocks for the retaining wall and stone veneer to go against the foundation wall. Mo has an eye for design, and he spent time with us picking out the appropriate materials and colors to ensure a high-end style. We would not have been able to do this on our own. Mo also made himself available both during the day and evenings when we had questions. He always answered our questions and had great ideas to ensure the look would be achieved. Mo was able to resolve the issues with our property (high water table, sloped side yard, existing door into the house, etc.). Curb Appeal Design's work is definitely a step above other contracting companies. Using Curb Appeal Design makes it convenient since they handle construction, grading, masonry, lighting and planting. The design and construction is handled from start to finish. We also appreciated that we were able to deal directly with the owner on a day-to-day basis since Mo was onsite every day. The entire job exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Curb Appeal Design. We will be using them to repave our driveway and add landscaping to complement it.
