JLV responded to my questions usually within the hour and always within 24 hours. 5. JLV uses the complete brand roofing system. Several highly rated companies use their own brand of underlayment and other roof components. 6. JLV made thoughtful recommendations rather than profit driven ones. 7. The estimate was very competitive and detailed. After the contract was signed: 1. Roof replacement was scheduled in a timely manner. 2. The roofers, led by Sergio, were some of the hardest workers I've met. Careful, knowledgeable, efficient, courteous. 3. The crew maintained a positive attitude and exhibited high effort over multiple days. This speaks volumes about the company culture at JLV. It's evident the company cares about and invests in their employees. In turn, their employees clearly care about their quality of work and the company and its customers. 4. The owner was onsite almost every work day to touch base with the crew. He was available to us as well and he conducted a comprehensive review after project completion. 5. At the end of each work day, the crew were meticulous about cleaning up the work area. They used a nail sweep and broom, blowers, and picked up nonmagetic nails and staples by hand. 6. JLV sent out a crew within 3 hours after I contacted them about a small matter. Choosing the right roofing contractor is one of the most important decisions a homeowner can make. I located JLV Construction on Angies List while looking for a local roofer. They were highly rated on Angies list with many positive reviews and I wanted to use a local business. I sent a request for them to provide me with a quote to tear off my existing roof and install a new roof. Within 1 hour I was contacted by one of their employees who scheduled a time and date to provide me with an estimate. Asael showed right on time and spoke with me regarding the work that I wanted done, he inspected my roof and told me he would email me a quote providing the cost including all of the work and materials they would provide. A few hours later I had that quote. I also contacted two other local roofing companies so I could get some competitive bids. One company took 2 days to respond and the other took 3 days. Not a great start. The next couple of days I went over the quotes and compared cost to service on all. During this time I emailed and called Asael several times with questions and each time he responded quickly and he answered all of my questions. I contracted with JLV Construction because of great reviews, a local company, competitive price and they were the one company that acted in a manner that said we value you and your business. Asael called and told me the crew would be at my house early Tuesday morning, the crew showed up when they were scheduled to and went right to work. After the first day they had stripped the existing roof off, replaced the sheets of plywood that were bad and installed the new underlayment. Day 2 came and the crew showed up bright and early and went to work. By the end of day 2 my new roof was installed, my yard was completely cleaned and anything they had moved out of their way had been put back. Very rarely these days do I feel that a company over delivers on their promise but in this case they did. Excellent customer service. Quick to respond, always on time, hard working, cleaned up after themselves, fast and efficient in their work, listened and responded to our concerns and helped explain and ... they knew their stuff... recognized the venting issue and gave us answers to address both the Intake and venting issues of our roof where others focused on the venting they didn't focus on the intake fixes needed. As well, per our request - due to the poor roof job done when the house was originally built in the 50's, we worked with them to get additional rafters added where needed and had the 2/4s all replaced with 2x6 rafters , resheeted with new plywood the whole house versus just the 10 sheets everyone quoted. Had a New Gutter system installed. Couple minor things found on the final walk thru that was immediately fixed! Loved working with them even with all our requests beyond the normal asks they were friendly and went over and beyond in my opinion - staying till late the first day of the tear-off and resheet to get the waterproof underlayment completed before the scheduled rain... thankfully, the rain held for 3 days till everything was done. We decided to go with JLV Construction to handle some repairs on the wood siding around our home. Prior to reaching out to JLV, we had obtained a few different quotes. However, after a recommendation from some friends, we decided to give JLV a call for an estimate. Right from the start, we were impressed with the estimate we received, and our conversation with Oliver, who was very transparent about the scope of the work. When the day of the job arrived, the JLV crew showed up fully prepared. They brought along not only the necessary tools but also some thoughtful extras like a crew toilet, plenty of snacks and drinks for the workers, and even a microwave! It was clear that they had all their bases covered. By the end of the day, the crew had completed the work in a professional manner, and we were pleasantly surprised to find no mess left behind. They were also incredibly respectful of our property throughout the process. Fast, friendly and willing, response was immediate. The estimator Juan and the subsequent crew were able to schedule my job right away and showed up exactly when they said they would! The transparency of the paperwork exchange when I accepted the proposal was refreshing and surprising. I also love that they are a family business, Juan told me that everyone is related, cousins, etc and they don't need to hire outside workers. I could sense the pride this company has in itself and its workers as well as a dedication to excellence. I can't afford a full roof replacement so I was offered a repair option. Juan was very upfront about the pros and cons of going with just the repair, clarifying that it won't have the warranty of a full repair. Because of how everything has transpired since I first reached out to them via Yelp, I feel confident that they will be able to take care of the biggest issues. We asked 4 contractors to bid on replacing or repairing our roof. One flat out wouldn't offer a repair and another said they could, but didn't actually give us a bid for one. JLV talked us through their assessment of the roof condition and did offer to repair but showed us compelling reasons to replace instead if we could afford it. They completed the roof replacement in two working days and installed new gutters in a few hours a couple of days later. The work is high quality as are the products they installed. The team was professional and communicative. I never had to wait more than a few hours for an email response or a call to discuss specifics. My husband was looking a company that had experience as long with good review. Jlv does not get the credit they deserve. I decided to give them a try. Obviously at the end my husband agreed with me and we started working with them. Entire team is nothing but helpful. From the start it was very easy to get in touch with them , the fact that they work weekend through email was the best thing for me ! The proposal they offered was just as detailed as I had asked for. All my phone calls and emails were answered. When the crew did the installation, they worked very clean , no garbage on out drive way , they ran a metal detector to remove possible nails for the safety my family. We are very pleased with our new roof done by JLV Construction. We were a tough customer, taking our time to review our options, look up product reviews etc. Juan and Luis were very patient with us while we considered our options and asked lots of questions. They did the job in two days! We really appreciated that they brought a truck to remove debris instead of leaving a dumpster sitting in our driveway for days. They also put tarps out in our yard to catch debris and easily remove the debris at the end of the job. They replaced, connected and painted all the vents on the roof. Price was fine, but don't expect them to come back and fix anything if it was a hiccup on their side. Warranty was worthless. After they've finished with the job, they did not want to come back and fix their mistakes. They totally denied any problems even if it was their fault and gave a bunch of excuses, including back tracking on what they've said/promised to deflect any responsibility. read more
