Sought 4 paint estimates for the work -- HyTone was in the middle. Why did I chose HyTone? First, when Tony (owner of HyTone) came to do the estimate, he took his shoes off prior to coming into house. (None of the other companies did this.) Now, I told all 4 companies I was having my floor redone, so perhaps it's why others didn't, but I appreciated the gesture. Second, out of the estimates done, one "eyeballed" everything, one used a laser pointer, one gave a verbal price per square foot estimate, and finally Tony took the time to actually measure things out with a good old fashioned tape measure. (Note that I work in the tech field... I'm all for technology and simplification, but something about actually measuring all the angles vs holding a laser to get a 'rough' estimate of size strikes me as detailed vs. 'approximately right'...) Third, of the written estimates, HyTone's simply looked the most professional. One estimate I received had some glaring errors/lack of detail. Another didn't specify how many coats were to be applied. HyTone's estimate was very specific and detailed -- covering both them and me. How was the work? Tony's crew (I don't recall their names unfortunately) were fantastic -- professional, hard-working, and courteous. They showed up on-time (if not a few minutes EARLY), every day, working from ~7:20am-4pm. Walls & ceiling all look fantastic. Further, they left no mess behind, and even accommodated a request we had to have an additional room of the house after the project already started. They even removed the TV off the wall mount so paint behind it, and also swapped-out a light bulb in a very hard-to-reach spot for me. All-told, having the downstairs painted was NOT cheap... But HyTone did great work at a price comparable to the other quotes I had received, and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for my future painting needs.

Given the shortage of painters and paint during the pandemic, we are so happy we worked with Portland Home Painting. Their responsiveness to a bid request was amazing. Within an hour we had a bid and because we were flexible, the work was completed within one week. We called 5 other companies for a bid, Victor was able to provide a bid that was 1/2 that of the larger, more expensive painting companies in Portland. The quality and workmanship is excellent. The prep work was done well and our property was left clean and back as it was before the job started. Our garden, decking and other areas were left unscathed by paint drips, scraped off old paint, sanding etc... We will definitely work with Victor, Ryan and their team again.

Alux Painting just completed an exterior repaint of my 15-year-old house, and 12-year-old shop. Of the 3 quotes we obtained, Daniel's was not the least expensive, nor the most expensive. Information contained in the quote, and during my discussion when Daniel came out to look at my buildings, about repair to the trim boards was THE deciding factor - we knew that Daniel would do the right things, we did not have that confidence in the other two contractors from whom we obtained quotes. Daniel and his crew were responsive to questions - including the one dumb question that I asked where I realized I was wrong after Daniel's explanation. As the work drew to a close, there were a couple of items that my wife or I found, and they were addressed on the spot. We're very happy with the final result.

I reached out to them through their Facebook ad and IMMEDIATELY received a response. The owners, Eric & Kylee arrived on time the following morning for the bid, and within a day they were starting the process of prepping the room for paint (wiping down walls/door/baseboard/crown molding), caulking all the trim/door jambs and removing fixtures and light switch/outlet covers, moving things to the center of the room and covering with plastic. (As a side note I would add that Eric and Kylee work SO well together, feeding off of each other's talents and knowledge). They are meticulous and thorough in their work and take great pride in their craft, answering questions as they work, using the best quality paint and taking the utmost care of your home in the process.
