We love JL Beers! The place is decorated in a fun way and the staff is really friendly. We were waited on right away and our delicious bugers came out quickly. I really love the options you can get to dip your fries in. Just a great place.

My family (myself, husband, and 3 boys) came here for lunch on a Friday. They sat us in a large booth right in the entryway. There was no kids' menu, but it wasn't a problem. 4 of us ordered burgers, and the youngest (6) had chicken strips. The burgers are well priced, and the sides are extra, which worked great for us - we all had our own main and then split an order of loaded fries. We all enjoyed our burgers - we felt that the burgers were all about the toppings, and not about the burger itself. Which we are okay with - there's a time for burgers for the meat, and a time for burgers for the toppings. :) I think we all decided that we would come back again.

Visited 11/15/22. Headed over right after my work day and this made for a great place to unwind after a busy day. Got there around 4:30 and it was not busy at this time. When I left around 5:45, it had picked up but there were definitely tables still open so no one had to worry about a wait. Server was attentive and checked in regularly which was greatly appreciated. I got the seasonal cider which hit the spot and was refreshing. Menus were organized well and sorted by types of beer to assist customers in deciding. I ordered the Cheeseburger (came with pickles and ketchup on it), my friend ordered the Rajun Cajun, and then we decided to split a side of parmesan garlic fries. They had run out of this seasoning but the waiter informed us super quickly and then gave us options for what we could get instead. Overall, solid experience and solid food. Made for a fun environment as well.

It's been a couple of months since we went out to eat due to restaurants being closed because of the pandemic, so getting a burger and beer from JLBeers tasted even better, if that's possible. Their burgers are so good. I typically get a burger with lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions. Everything is fresh and served hot. What I love even more is their home made potato chips. They are so crisp, salty and delicious. They have a great beer selection. I prefer stouts and they typically have several I can choose from. This visit I got one of my favs, a Left Hand Milk Stout. I haven't ventured around their menu much because I like the burger and chips so much. For COVID safety measures, servers were masked. We made reservations for easy seating. Groups were separated appropriately. There were screens between booths. Lots of hand sanitizer available. Patrons were wearing masks when not eating.

I'm not sure how I've never reviewed this place as it's easily a staple in our household. JL Beers opened back when I was in school at UND up in Grand Forks and I had been missing since I moved down to Minneapolis. After we moved to Burnsville and saw there was a JL Beers down here we went immediately as my fiance had never had. JL Beers is an excellent place to go no matter the location (in my experience) we've always had great food and great service. Do yourself a favor and get an extra side of beer cheese dip for your burgers, chicken tenders, pretzels, etc. you will not regret it! Burgers are always cooked perfectly, along with the rotation for the monthly burger it's easy to find something you'll enjoy! They obviously have a wide variety of beers on tap but what a lot of people don't know is that they have a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages to indulge in which I greatly appreciated when I wasn't drinking! With the stay at home order in place we of course have made a point to keep ordering from here so that we can keep supporting one of our favorite local businesses. The other day we had a craving for their Cheerwine and Root Beer float, and you know what? They totally accommodated for us so that we could not only have our burgers, pretzel and cheese dip but also the two floats without the ice cream being melted before we even got home. While it wasn't something they probably do in this situation, they were willing to go the extra mile for us and we were SO grateful for it.

Brought here by a dear friend and coworker. I was told it was one of the best burgers he's had. Needless to say, I can't disagree. The burger tasted great and was cooked perfectly, but those fries. Make sure you get one of the variations of seasonings...makes them taste excellent. The tap beer is also excellent. We will definitely be back. The staff was also super friendly and made our time there so much fun. It's not often you find upbeat and happy staff nowadays.

My go to is a Sicilian pizza which is salty, slightly spicy and full of meat. The toppings steal the show for this pizza. The crust is crispy around the edges but the center needs a little help to hold up all the toppings. If you aren't into pizza they have a lot of other options on their menu. You won't be disappointed!

This time my mom and I went and we agreed, it's not quite the same, but still pretty tasty! When we first walked in, we were not greeted... rather the boy at the front said "why are you here?" We thought that was super strange and I asked "are you closing?" He said "no" and just stood there... We said "ok well can we get a table then?" And he said "oh sure, just pick one" Not a great start. However, our waitress was wonderful! I didn't get her name but she was an older woman with long black and white hair. She was so sweet and took very good care of our table! We got onion rings whichwere great! They had a crunch and the onions were done well! Im not sure if they were beer battered, but it tasted that way! They are served with a side of ketchup. My mom got the chicken dinner with a baked potato and coleslaw. She said it was all very good! She said it did taste different than years ago, but still very good! My boys and I got the thin crust half cheese half pepperoni pizza. Again not quite the same as what I remember but very tasty! This is a very greasy pizza which would probably taste amazing with a cold beer and a game on the tv!

I took the wife upstairs at Paragon for the first time and was amazed at the decor and effort put into the ambiance up there. The bar area has a backsplash of windows and is quite unique. The seating in the bar area is nice with dim lights and plenty of room to move around. We sat at the bar and ordered the recommended Mezz Mac pizza (which tastes like a Big Mac in pizza form. A must try). We also got into some artichoke dip. The pizza was magical as you just don't expect that taste in that form. You can see and taste the effort that goes into its creation so you know they are serious about putting this iconic burger onto some flatbread. The artichoke dip itself was good. What we were given to dip into the sauce was not our favorite. Tortilla chips. Bleh. Hey, they were multi-colored though so it was fun to look at. I would really like to see them switch to a pita bread (toasted or warmed). We try artichoke dip everywhere and we just cannot choke (get it?) down this dip anywhere on tortilla chips. The rest of the menu items ranged from basic to interesting. The food menu is quite small but there is definitely something for everyone. There is a wide variety of specialty drinks, beers and wines to order and this is where Mezz shines. Although it may be hard to get a server/bartender's attention at times and customer lines do build up, it is still worth it. We loved being able to sit around and have a drink before and after the movie. We also were ecstatic to bring our drinks into the theater with us. We will now not see any movies elsewhere or any other way. I need a snack and drink from Mezz and a cushy, oversized VIP leather seat in the theater.

What a disaster! We…read morehad a living social voucher for dinner and a movie. We arrived at the theater to find all the ticket stands were closed. We wandered around not knowing where to go, and eventually headed upstairs to the bar area. There was no hostess or waiter, just a guy working the bar. The bartender explained we had a limited selection of appetizers to choose from, so we picked the Bruschetta. It was.... interesting. Not traditional Bruschetta at all. The bread seemed like it was a day old. Not crisp and toasted anymore - although it might have been at one point. Just sort of firm and soggy at the same time. It wasn't bad. It definitely was very gorgonzola infused. Very sauce heavy. I thought it was ok though. We also got two glasses of wine - the house chardonnay. It was not a very good wine, it was headache inducingly sharp. Definitely the cheap stuff. The better half gave me her glass and ordered a drink from the bar instead - a Victoria's Secret. The bartender had to make it by looking at the recipe on the drink card. It didn't turn out very well. It hard a sharp sour raspberry taste - like raspberry pucker with sort of a nutty taste as well. The voucher included 2 medium sodas and 2 popcorns. They sent a kid to go fetch the popcorn and he only returned with one. We had to send him back for the second one. The sodas also didn't come in the big movie cups (you know how big a "medium" is at the theatres right???). Instead the bartender just poured them in regular glass tumblers. He said he'd check on us later to see if we needed refills (which we most certainly would - they are like 8oz glasses with half of it being ice). He never did come back in to the theater to check on us though, and we really didn't want to have to leave the theater and walk back to the bar for a refill, missing parts of the movie. (I'll review the movie theater and seating on the actual theater page - this is just for the restaurant) We returned to have our entrees after the film. We sat down at 6:52. I know this precisely, because I returned a call I had received while in the movie and I have the timestamp on my phone. Let me also point out that there were never more than 5 tables of people at any given time, and there was 1 waitress working along with a couple errand boys and the bartender. The waitress never came and greeted us, and I had to go fetch menus myself from the empty hostess stand. She took forever to come take our order. When she arrived, she apologized for the wait and took our order. I had the tenderloin and the better half had the walleye. We also decided to try two more drinks off their specialty menu. I had an "O-Poppy" and she had a "Love Pink". The drinks took 20 minutes to arrive (we were timing by this point - as the better half moonlights as a server occasionally). The O-Poppy was terrible, and the ice had already mostly melted in it. It was supposed to be absinthe mixed with orange. It was colored orange alright, but all you could taste was black licorice. There were no other flavors present. She sort of liked her Love Pink, but said it wasn't very good. We resorted to going back to our sodas. The food took ONE HOUR. I repeat ONE HOUR to come out. With only 4 other tables present. We had our food arrive at 7:55. Her walleye was cold, and she had asked for tartar sauce but was told the restaurant doesn't offer tartar sauce. My tenderloin was actually quite good. It was cooked perfectly and the rub they used was very flavorful. It didn't have any sides though. Just like 2 spoonfuls of burned carrot slices and some weird purple potato thing (like half the size of a cigar). I don't know what kind of vegetable that was. We asked our server to bring out our desert right away as well. We ordered "monkey bread". The menu was not descriptive at all as to what it was. They really should just have called it cini-mini's. It's exactly the same thing as the cinamon roll bites at McDonalds. After waiting 20 minutes for our desert, and being unable to flag down the waitress (she was chatting with a bus boy), I left the table and walked up to her to remind her to go fetch our desert. She apologized again for forgetting and went and immediately returned with it. We asked for our check at the same time. She came back another 10 minutes later (we were now right around TWO HOURS since the movie ended and we sat down in the restaurant) and said she would comp the whole thing because of the slow service. That was nice of her to do, and we appreciated that they acknowledged that they screwed up, but man what a terrible dining experience!!!! Two hours of sitting around for 1 drink each, 1 entree each, and a cinnamon roll. Incredible! Just incredible. Since they let us keep the living social voucher and asked us to try them again and give them a second chance, I guess we will. I mean it's free after all so why not. I'll post an updated review after that, but things are not looking good for The Mezz so far!!!!

Had us seated quickly and got drinks out pretty quickly. During this dinner I drank a Cherry Manhattan and ate Cajun Bourbon pasta. I typically love a Manhattan but I wasn't impressed with this Cherry Manhattan. It seemed like it was pure whisky and a drop of sweet Vermouth. The ratio of the cocktail was definitely all wrong. Good thing I like straight whiskey I guess. The Cajun Bourbon pasta was good, but I wouldn't venture to say great. It was overly creamy and just didn't pack any spice that you'd expect to be associated with Cajun. Overall it just lacked a richness in flavor. I would still recommend this spot despite food and drink being average. Barley and Vine had a beautiful location with some magnificent wood working that is a feast for the eyes. Additionally they bring in live music on Saturdays so that adds some enjoyment if you appreciate loud live music. 4/5 due to these many factors mentioned.

To be fair, I did overlook that a special sauce already came with the order. At pickup, the hostess told me, "My manager said not to forget to charge you for the extra sauces." After clarifying what sauce was already included, I asked what the cost would be for the four extra 2 oz sauces. She said $3, and I paid it. Still, after already leaving a 15% tip on a takeout order, it felt a little cheap for management to make a point of charging for a few small sauces. The hostess herself was very nice and even said that if it were up to her, she would have just given them to me. The bigger problem, though, was the food. The chicken was bone dry, even if it was still hot and crispy. The fries and toast were both cold and soggy, and the toast was so salty it was hard to enjoy. Sometimes simple is better. Just butter the toast and leave it at that. I usually do not leave negative reviews, but between the awkward sauce situation and the poor quality of a $16 platter, I felt this was worth mentioning. This also was not an isolated issue. The only other time I ordered fries from here, they were cold and soggy then too. Since both visits were during busy hours, I expected better consistency, not the same problem twice. To be fair, not everything I've had here has been bad. The salmon bowl I ordered previously was cooked well and tasted good, and the service has also been good overall. The staff I've interacted with have been very nice. This particular platter, though, was disappointing.
