I had some work done last year on the front of my home by JKS and since then it has deteriorated. So I called JKS back to see if they could fix the problem. The gentleman they sent up to help was absolutely talented and kind. But the owner, Jeremy, was not amenable to fixing the entire problem. He allowed the contractor a certain amount of time to work, but the original issue remains. I was at Texas Roadhouse tonight when I saw a Guy in a JKS Home Improvement Truck park in the lines of a handicap spot. The poor people parked in the Handicap spot had a little boy in a wheel chair who looked to be around four or five, who appeared to have Cerebral Palsy. It was raining and they couldn't get the poor little guy in the van because this guy parked so close in the yellow lines. The people had to go in and ask for someone to come move it. The guy comes out with an attitude saying "looks like a perfectly good spot to me. Looks like a spot." The dad of the kid was rightfully getting really annoyed and this guy was being a complete jerk, even though he was obviously wrong and caused this little guy to be in the rain while they tried to get him to move. The mom looked like she was about to cry. I heard the guy say "What are you going to do call my boss? Go for it. Call my boss" and then laughed. I looked on the website and he appears to be the owner, which is why he didn't care. I didn't call because I figured it would fall on def ears. Before you support JKS Home Improvement, I suggest you think about the kind of person you are dealing with!!! If he can be so rude to parents of a wheelchair bound CHILD after he was the one who parked in a spot he shouldn't have, imagine how he's going to treat a customer!!! The quality of the work itself did not meet expectations. There were noticeable issues that should have been caught early on, and it felt like attention to detail was lacking throughout the project. When I raised concerns, the responses were slow and didn't really address the problems in a meaningful way. I signed a quote to have them replace my gutters in July. Today I (Nov 3) I finally told them to take a hike. In between I got nearly 4 months of "we should be there within 2 weeks" and the excuse that they'd "lost their gutter crew for a month and were doing their best to catch up." Quality of workmanship was sub par and the lead worker had to redo almost every single thing that the workers did. Was told that the job would take 2 weeks but it took 6 weeks. my lawn was ruined by the workers and never repaired. Don't use this company they have no clue what they are doing. Lord, I felt like I was dealing with a high-pressure kirby vacuum cleaner salesman. And when he offended my husband for not doing it himself, well how did he not know my husband wasn't getting chemo treatments or the like? $1000's of work we've had JKS do for us and this is how they treat past customers? This review is long overdue so sit back, strap in and get comfortable. It starts with Dan, the salesman for J.K.S., I really should have known something fraudulent was afoot when Dan insisted upon writing up the "proposal" twice, instead of taking me up on my offer of using my copy machine which was literally only feet away in the next room. He did the same thing when we signed the final contract. When Dan said it would cost $18,000 to tear off my old roof and replace it with a new one, my knees almost gave out. My realtor, Ty Fish, said he thought it would be about $7500 for a new house roof, which I thought was low, but I was new to Binghamton and gave him the benefit of the doubt. It turned out he was only off by $10,500. When I assumed JKS's estimate would include gutters and downspouts I was again shocked to hear that it would be an additional $2000. I got another estimate but Dan did make a good presentation when he first came to my house, so I went with  JKS Home Improvement- one of the more notable mistakes I've made in my life. In retrospect, when Dan came over with the final contract to be signed it's clear he already had a plan; he knew exactly what he was doing as he blew through my front door, walked right by me, and set up his paperwork on the kitchen counter. When it was time for me to sign, Dan put his big fat Popeye-like arms over the contract leaving only the signing area visible. I must have been in a very trusting mood because I thought nothing of it and signed Dan's handwritten "duplicate" without even reading it. Dan then quickly picked up his bundle of things and headed towards the front door like a man making a prison break, stopping briefly to tell me the job might happen within a day or two and with gobs of guilt-ridden sweat dripping down from his forehead. An hour later, when I went back to the kitchen to retrieve my copy of the final contract, it was nowhere to be found. It must have "accidentally" fallen in with the pile of papers Dan brought with him, which were completely unnecessary, but it sure made for a good con. I'll come back to Dan's handy-work in a moment. A few days after the roofing job was completed, "The Three Stooges" showed up to install the gutters. As I was sitting in my living room the clear sound of someone bashing a gutter with a hammer began. It continued unabated for at least two minutes, without even a pause. At some point, the bashing sound became so intrusive I had to go outside to see exactly what was happening. Moe was standing on the porch roof with both hands gripping his hammer and swinging with extreme rage, Curly was behind him holding on to his belt, with one hand and eating a sandwich with the other so Moe didn't come hurtling off the roof and break his neck. Larry was nowhere to be found. With each swing of the hammer, the gutter and the fascia board swung out and then came back like it was on a powerful spring and they were making no progress at all. As I stood there, just feet below them and directly in their line of sight, they pretended they didn't see me, even as I was waving my hands and yelling, "HEY, HEY, HEY." It was obvious the fascia board was going to break, but apparently, they were too lazy and unprofessional to get a ladder out of their truck to properly remove the gutter using a pry bar. The way they just completely ignored me, the client, was shocking, and later on, when I happened to see them in front of my house I stopped them, and instead of screaming at them for being a trio of incompetent unprofessional morons who should be immediately fired, I politely asked them to "please go easy on my house, it's 120 years old." When they said nothing, I repeated myself and finally, one of them said, "absolutely." Little did I know that they had already broken the fascia board and replaced it with a bare piece of wood. So, maybe, "no harm no foul?" but that's not the correct axiom here, "stupid is as stupid does" would be more appropriate. The problem is that the fascia board needs to be painted before it is installed and they didn't have time for a paint job, which explains their lack of response to my request to "please go easy on my house." They knew they had already botched the job and were probably hoping they could get just get out of there before I saw the results of their incompetency. The final straw was after they left they didn't put gut gutters on the garage. Somewhere along the line Dan just didn't like the idea that he had agreed to do both the roofing and gutter job on the garage for $2000 and so he added $300 to the handwritten contracts, yes contract(S), (Dan's plan only works if he takes my copy with him), and so when I went looking for my copy it was missing. It wasn't until I showed Dan's original estimate to Jeremy with the hand-written notation on the bottom saying, "This includes gutters and downspouts," that they came back to finish the job....and that's not all-I'm just out of room read more

Not only did he give us the best quote in town for our roof--a complete tear off job--but the professionalism of his crew and the quality of their work is absolutely outstanding. I gave one star at least only because the owner actually refunded half of my down payment on the shingles that were not what I wanted to begin with, but were presented to me by their salesman as pretty much what they thought was best. The saleman made no notes on the total work that was needed, including some that was critical to the integrity of the building. Instead he gave me a quote and I signed because he had said he would come back and take a look at everything else besides the roof. He never came. I called and tried to make an appointment but it seemed once the contract was signed for the roof, the roof, and nothing but the roof, my other important concerns meant nothing. THen proceeded to tell me in great detail how I was ripped off by the contractor who did the last work in my house. He didn't measure anything was clearly not interested in the job. Informed us that that they were willing to work and available to start on a specific date. When that day arrived, they were not available to start work as they didn't have their crew together yet. They did not call us ahead of time to deliver the news, but rather we had to contact them when they weren't there for the job. Jeremy and I "met" at a Giants game after his son opened his door of a JKS Home Improvement work truck and struck my truck on the left front fender. After not being able to provide me with an insurance card and telling me his boss will just write me check for the damage, I was confident it wouldn't be an issue because I believed him.(WRONG!) I placed a call to his company right after the incident and left a message inquiring if they employed a Jeremy Hills and asking for a call back. SURPRISE...I never received one. I let a week go by and decided to email him, so I went to the company's website and low and behold Mr. Hills (the name he gave me) was actually Mr. Sager. Of course he denies (via rude and obnoxious emails) ever meeting me and his son hitting my truck. I hope all you prospective clients of JKS Home Improvement are careful when choosing Mr. Sager for his services; I hope he is a better builder than a person. . read more
