Then we called Justin Plumbing, and the experience was completely different. Their consultation was free, and Justin and his crew found the leak almost immediately. They clearly explained the problem, walked us through all of our repair options, and showed us exactly what needed to be done. The repair was extensive, requiring concrete to be cut and removed before fixing the broken main water line, but they handled everything efficiently and professionally. To top it off, their quote was nearly half the price of the first company, and they completed the work much faster than we expected. Throughout the entire process, Justin and his team were honest, knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly professional. The total invoice was $698 for approximately 15 minutes on site: $199 for the after hours service call and an additional $499 to turn a ball valve back on. As a fellow service contractor, I completely understand the added cost of providing after-hours service. Technicians deserve to be compensated for leaving their families and responding outside normal business hours. That said, I felt $499 on top of a $199 after-hours fee for turning a valve was more than excessive. I called the owner directly hoping we could have a contractor to contractor conversation about the charge, but he was unwilling to make any adjustment. We paid for the service and take responsibility for why the plumber was needed. My concern is simply the pricing, and I think potential customers should be aware of what an after-hours call can cost.

At the insistence of my business partner, we hired Dan (owner of the defunct Folkrod, now called Agape Plumbing), to do ALL new plumbing on a full remodel of my ranch home. Dan was pleasant enough at first, but his personal issues quickly began interfering with his ability to arrive on time, be at the job when he said he would, or complete quality workmanship. When he was on the job, his frenetic work approach made it difficult for other sub-contractors to work around. Early on, I wanted to replace him, but my business partner who knew him personally, insisted otherwise. For me, the final straw (after arriving 3+ hrs late again) was the rush job Dan did so he could take off on a weekend Vegas trip. His conversation that Friday afternoon was more focused on the gambling he planned to do, than on his careful attention to finishing the basic plumbing work he'd promised to complete several weeks earlier. The contractor and my business partner were out of town already, so I was alone when I decided it might be wise to drive over after Dan left for Vegas and check out the construction site. To my horror, I discovered a disastrous mess which, had it not been discovered w/in a few hours, would have resulted in my well pump burning up; a very costly expense. Because of Dan's rush to turn the well pump back on, ALL the existing plumbing (going from the well to new interior plumbing), burst under the sudden water pressure. My 2,500 gal. water storage tank was empty and the pump was working beyond it's limit trying to pull water up from the well into the constantly emptying tank. The house foundation, the 50' long driveway and much of the exterior grounds were flooded with water! It goes without saying, I fired Dan on the spot. Fortunately, I was also able to quickly find an excellent, very reliable company (Zeek's Plumbing) to come out after hours and start repairing this fiasco as well as several additional problems which surfaced from Dan's irresponsible work. It's been 3+ yrs since I endured this horrible incident with Folkrod/Agape Plumbing. Ever since, I've used and refer to anyone wanting efficient, honest, reasonable AND reliable plumbing work done, to Zeek's Plumbing!
