Philpott's inventory is nice, they have a great website to browse their vehicles and order from, and they seem to be in a convenient location. They seem to ask reasonable prices for their vehicles. However - their Financing department and Sales Leadership are both very shady. I tried to purchase a vehicle from out of state, a completely ordinary and common practice, and they made me jump through hoops. The lengthy process culminated them in telling me they cannot accept out-of-state financing, and only would accept financing from in-Texas. After seeing the abysmal rate their preferred lenders offered, despite my good credit, I declined and went to pursue financing from an in-state Credit Union. Knowing that I would get a better rate from the CU rather than their subpar lenders, they told me they would not accept this financing, and they lost a very serious and dedicated customer. While none of this is illegal, and it's well within their rights to not accept outside financing, I have literally never encountered this in my life. I advise you do not do business with Philpott, nor any other Sonic network dealer, due to their shady and unethical business practices.

I bought a new Accent at this dealership a few months ago. I am use to driving large vehicles with…read moreAmerican name plates riveted to the front of them. However, the Accent is a great car for a compact. It is a hatchback and offers some space to use the car as a limited utility vehicle. I did transport a new BBQ grill for my brother-in-law about three weeks ago. It has some nice bells and whistles for an economically priced car (under $20k). I like the Bluetooth connectivity and the input for my MP3 and Ipod. It even has a USB port and I can charge my phone if need be for that. The sales experience was about as good as it can get. My salesman was new, but still knowledgeable of the cars and features in them. We discussed what would best fit my needs and the price I wanted to spend. He suggested the Accent or the Veloster. The Veloster looks sportier, but I am getting to old to constantly get in and out of those lower riding cars. So I got the Accent SE. It gets excellent fuel economy and still has a little pep to it when you floor it. Of course it does not have the power of the muscle cars I loved as a younger fella, but it is sufficient. My salesman put my paperwork through on a Friday evening and I was driving out in my new car on Monday. At delivery, he went through all the features of the car in detail with me and synced my phone to the car for me. We briefly went over maintenance and warranty and all the other typical stuff when buying a new car. I think the service department is what impresses me the most out of this whole thing. I went to have my first oil change and they treated me like a friend even though we had never met. They showed me the waiting area with a big TV, coffee, and coffee. The room had nice big comfy chairs and couches. I started hearing a squeal type noise after turning the car off. When I took it in for them to look at fix, it would not make the noise. Just my luck! Anyhow, they had an educated guess as to what it could be and decided to replace the air-condition blower motor. They had seen a few cases of that in the past. So they ordered the part and I went back to have it installed. Again they greeted me like a friend and then got busy. They had the old motor out, and the new one in in no time flat. I really should have timed it, but it seems it only took an hour or so to complete. When I got home, the noise was still there, but I have give credit where due. A dealership that tries to fix an issue without hearing the issue is pretty stand-up in my book. If I could just convince my car to make that noise AT the dealership... To sum it up, I am very pleased with Philpott Hyundai along with the product they sell and service. I would recommend them to any of my friends.

Local car buyers need to demand a full look at internal accounting codes before trusting the…read more'transparency' scripts at this store. During my recent negotiation on a 2026 Hyundai Kona SEL Premium AWD (Cyber Gray, VIN: KM8HDCA32TU455135), salesperson Joseph attempted to push an out-the-door price of $32,883.26. When challenged on a competitive cash floor of $31,350 OTD, Joseph provided a copy of the vehicle's memorandum invoice, claiming they were selling the car for '$100 over cost' and could not cut another dollar. Let's look at the internal dealer data he failed to explain to the public: 1. This vehicle was explicitly billed, invoiced, and shipped to Killeen Hyundai in Killeen, TX--nearly 260 miles away. Philpott executed a dealer trade to bring this specific inventory unit to Nederland. As a cash buyer, I am not responsible for subsidizing their dealership's logistics overhead, transport friction, or inventory mismatch expenses. 2. The internal invoice explicitly features manufacturer code **HB623, which confirms a guaranteed $623.00 factory holdback profit paid directly back to the dealership by Hyundai Motor America upon the sale of the car. This is pure, unadvertised back-end profit hidden from the consumer. 3. Joseph claimed he was providing a '$274 discount' to remove a mandatory anti-theft etching fee, yet the final cash OTD balance remained completely stagnant at $32,883.26. They are actively using the national $1,750 Hyundai factory cash incentive to mask the fact that they are charging full retail sticker price plus bloated port-installed add-ons ($375 cross rails, $240 floor mats). They are not 'losing money'--they are protecting their transport costs and holdback gross. If you shop for a vehicle here this weekend, do not let them hide behind fake invoice sheets. The real break-even bottom dollar on this unit is well under $30,000 before taxes and statutory fees. Demand they strip the port add-ons, demand they pass through the holdback, or walk away like I did.

UPDATE: I was contacted by the manager this morning and they are going to try and make things…read moreright. They are taking my truck back to repair what they can and put me in a loaner vehicle while they have my truck. It is greatly appreciated. I purchased a 2013 Ford F150 from there on July 23. When I asked about whether the dealership had a standard limited warranty (even a 30 day), I was told no, but if something wasn't right, they would take care of it if it was immediately noticed. Well, the first issue I had was that there was a recall on the truck that could have been very dangerous. I found it on the car fax, but when I asked the salesman about it, he said he had no idea about it. The second issue I had was the backup camera failed the day after I bought it. The third issue I had was the AC started blowing hot air less than a week after I had it. I imagine that they gave it a quick recharge just to show it had cold air. After paying $200 one week and one day after I had it, it appears there is a leak in the AC line. By one week and two days, my brakes are squeaking and when I slow down to make a stop, the truck shakes. What exactly did Twin City Honda to to this truck during their inspection? Most likely, nothing really. Makes me wish I would have just purchased from a private seller-you get the same liabilities buying from a private seller as you do a dealership. I have voiced my issues to the dealership and they didn't do anything. I was asked whether I purchased a warranty and I did not. From experience, they are worthless. Think twice before buying from this dealership. They do the absolute bare minimum on their used vehicles and that is a shame. Would be nice to know they would stand by what they sell, but they're only out to make a quick buck. Looks like in addition to the price of the vehicle, I'm looking at dropping at least another thousand into repairing what should have been taken care of by the dealership BEFORE they put this truck on the lot. 10 days in of having this truck and the AC is broke, needs new rotors and brakes, the back up camera needs to be replaced, and I pray nothing else goes wrong!

Brutal, Dishonest Dealership Tactics -- Avoid Ben & Michael…read more Yesterday I was negotiating with salesman Ben and his manager, Michael, regarding a Honda Civic Sport Hatchback. Right out of the gate, Ben tried using classic, tired dealership tactics, claiming he was "fighting for a good deal for me" while trying to force garbage, high-markup add-ons into the price (fabric protection, cheap plastic accessories, and useless wheel locks). Eventually, they dropped their price to $30,575 Out-The-Door (OTD) for a straight cash deal. If they try to charge you a penny more than $30,575 for this trim, know that you are being severely ripped off. I might have actually proceeded with the deal at that number, but Michael tried to act offended and play the victim, telling me point-blank, "I don't like being called a liar" when I called him out for claiming they were losing money at that price. I am writing this review specifically because his fake, hurt attitude while actively trying to squeeze a buyer really pissed me off. Here is the exact mathematical proof exposing Michael's "losing money" lie for anyone looking to buy here: * Their Final OTD Offer: $30,575.00 * Minus Texas Title & License Fees: -$250.00 * Minus Texas Dealer Doc Fee: -$220.00 * Adjusted Subtotal (Vehicle + Tax): $30,105.00 * Divide by 1.0625 to strip the 6.25% Texas Sales Tax: $28,334.11 Their actual vehicle selling price on that $30,575 OTD offer is $28,334.11. When you compare their actual selling price ($28,334) against a standard factory invoice net dealer cost for this vehicle (~$27,118), they are still pocketing over $1,200 in pure vehicle profit--plus whatever massive margin they have on those pre-installed plastic add-ons. They weren't losing a dime. They were making money and lying to my face about it. Take your cash elsewhere.
