Joe was excellent throughout the entire process. After speaking to over 10 other contractors, all of whom came out and gave me estimates ranging from $6000 through $14000, I was thoroughly impressed with Joe's professionalism and his attitude from the start. He was completely upfront about pricing, credits from manufacturers, anticipated labor time, etc. Where are other contractors were just trying to squeeze every last dime out of me I never got that impression from Joe. When it came to the actual work, Joe was able to coordinate around our schedule (as we were in the process of getting married and moving into the new house at the same time). The team he had working with him was excellent throughout the whole process as well. They were all extremely polite and professional and I had no concerns about leaving them in my house to get the necessary work done. I never saw them standing around with nothing to do and they were very respectful of our property. They even made sure that they cleaned up each and every day after they finished working, which was excellent, and definitely not something every company does. It's 5 months later and I still haven't found a single nail or piece of cut piping laying on the ground. The boiler that was put in works excellently, probably better than my initial expectations. He also removed the ancient boiler and oil tank that were there when we purchased the property. Once again, there were no issues with the removal and I love having the extra room in the basement. It has been 5 months since he installed the system and there has been two times when I have had a minor leak, and due to my fear of plumbing, I called Joe both times. On both occasions not only did Joe get back to me within the hour, he also arranged to have one of his guys out at my house the following morning. Both of the problems were relatively easy fixes and the individual was in and out of my house in under an hour on both occasions. I was told that there was another hose that needed to be replaced because it wasn't up to code. I was charged $700 for the replacement hose. The problem was not resolved, and when I called back to inform the plumber that the washing machine was still leaking, I was told to call an appliance tech because they don't repair washing machines. The plumber refused to refund me my money after I had explained that the leak had not been fixed, and the job was not resolved. Now I have to spend more money to have an appliance tech come out and assess the problem, and pay for any repairs. I was taken advantage of, for sure!

Macca's team did a very good job and for the number of hours and men that worked on the problem, I beleive it was at a very fair price. Some people here have complained that the intial visit cost is high. I found Macca's was upfront about their fees. People need to keep in mind that to send a plumber for a first visit isn't cheap for the company. If you KNOW all you have is a clogged drain, then perhaps you're best off hiring some local handyman. But if your project becomes far more complicated, like mine did, you need a crew that knows what they're doing. Bob Macca worked with me to ensure the job got done and the Macca plumbers were polite & professional.
