I worked with David Chan and wow, I had the best headshot photoshoot experience I've ever had. First off, pricing. That was what hooked me in. David offers a few different shoot packages on his website: 1 Look Outdoors - $200, 2 Looks Outdoors - $275, 3 Looks Outdoors - $350, Unlimited Looks Indoors for 2 hours - $275. I signed up for that last package. I was thinking, "$275 for unlimited looks?!?! Sign me up, that's an amazing deal!!" You seriously can't find a better deal anywhere else in Los Angeles. Most other places will charge you $300 or more for 3 looks and will charge you extra for edits. The pricing was perfect for my budget and you best believe I took advantage of the 2 hours. I was able to fit in 6 or 7 different looks. That was amazing. Next, David is very kind and is flexible with scheduling. There was a lot of back and forth in our emails, mostly just me not being able to reply quickly enough, but David was very patient with me and we eventually set up a date and time for the shoot. He definitely will work with your schedule if he doesn't have many other shoots or if he isn't working on his own auditions himself. He really knows how things work for this side of the industry. Next, the shoot itself. We did our shoot indoors as I signed up for. David has a whole home studio set up at his apartment. It's right in the middle of Burbank so no annoying traffic getting there, easy to find parking, and just nice area over all. I once did a shoot on Melrose on a Saturday and it took me 30 min to find parking. Anyway, back to the studio. It is amazing. He makes some of his own backgrounds and he has everything all set up. He has a hanging rod for your clothes and goes through the outfits and looks with you. He will really experiment with colors and schemes and looks to see what will come out the best for you. I trust his judgment 150%. And he's a lot of fun! Very down to earth. He'll gas you up during your shoot and make you feel like you're rocking the camera. I felt super comfortable with him. Overall such an amazing experience. If I change my look and need new headshots, I will definitely go back. I know David works with Jive Duck Studios and they help with taping for auditions and offer different services. I put my complete trust in these guys. They're great. I heard about these guys through a good actor friend of mine who regularly books series regulars/guest star roles. They're not too pricey and got me the file back within a couple hours. I worked with Dante my first tape session and he was really chill and down to earth and made the taping a breeze. He was a great reader (they're all working actors and so really good readers) and fun to bounce off of and helped keep it a relaxing and fun experience. Their studio space is nice and I know they're even planning on making some improvements. They're a great option for self tapes in Burbank! I even drove up from Miracle Mile for my session because I trust my friend's recommendation that much. I had a two page scene that I knew cold and booked a half hour session. I think if you have a longer scene or more than one scene, depending on if you know you'll need many takes per scene, then an hour might be better for you. I was looking for a self-audition tape studio near Sunland, as most self-tape studios in the Los Angeles seem to be centered in the Hollywood area, which is a bit of a hassle for people, who live outside of Hollywood, having to deal with traffic and finding parking. I was also looking for a place, which would be available to tape at night. Most self-tape studios close early evening. Jive Duck Studios was/is a perfect location for me, with perfect, flexible hours including weekends. As long as they aren't booked, they work around YOUR schedule, not the other way around. I worked with Marc over there. He is happy to coach you if you like during your session at no additional charge, and will tell you, which take(s) he likes best, so you do not have to scroll through all the outtakes, which could be quite timely especially if you are on crunch time to get in your audition. However, Jive Duck Studios gives all your outtakes, whereas other places will charge an additional fee for additional takes due to the uploading process. Jive Duck Studios gives you your footage right then and there. There is no waiting time. I have yet to find another place, who gives you your footage right on the spot. Usually it takes an hour to three hours to receive your take(s), unless you pay a rush fee - not a Jive Duck Studios. Marc also has an eye for detail. For example If a hair is out of place, he lets you know instead of having you do take after take with it sticking out. Most self-tape audition studios do not pay attention to detail, which is very unhelpful, because physical details are also an important part of the self-tape. You do not want a piece of hair jutting out from your head distracting the casting director. You can also get yourself physical appearance prepped at Jive Duck Studios at no additional charge, as long as you are not doing it during your booked session. Street parking is available outside the apartment complex where the studio is. I have seen no signs or meter parking limiting one to a certain amount of time. This is a relief, because you do not want to concern yourself with getting a ticket when your focus should be on your audition. Another helpful aspect at Jive Duck Studios is if you do not utilize a full half-hour or hour, it may be worked out that any unused minutes are deducted from the total price, that is if you haven't agreed to a set amount of time. They take all credit cards and Paypal, so you will never be rummaging around for what card to use. Finally, Jive Duck Studios always offer you water or tea while waiting for your footage, which creates a really nice bond, and shows they care. I highly recommend Jive Duck Studios, and hope you book your next job with a self-tape by them! read more

He (and my makeup artist Nati) were so warm and friendly and definitely made the experience comfortable and genuine, which is something I really appreciate.
