I first came across Matt's website while looking for a cake smash photographer for my oldest daughter. I asked if they would be willing to do a cake smash shoot with her, since we weren't returning clients, and thankfully they offered us a shoot! Incredibly hospitable and professional experience from beginning to end. We were beyond satisfied with the quality of photography and the communication we received from Matt and his wife, Jessica. While other newborn photographers turned us away due to our child's age (6 weeks being too old to accept poses/positioning), Matt and Jessica were very accommodating. They explained what they were going to be able to achieve during the photo session and that they'll try their best to get all the shots. I had a prop I wanted them to use and they were able to take some really cute photos with it. They were very also very patient with our daughter. Since she was a little older, it was harder to get her to stay asleep for the poses. Nevertheless, the photos came out great. I initially didn't plan to leave a review because it would be a negative one, but my experience with Matt Cramer photography really did leave a bad aftertaste for me, thus I am sharing this months after our photoshoot for others. Do not schedule your infant photoshoot with Matt and Jessica, find other photographers who will share ALL of the unedited photos with you FOR FREE. Matt Cramer photography will extort money from you - they don't share unedited images with you unless you pay them extra, and they require you to pay a lot in addition to what is already a hefty price for their service. It is outrageous because it takes no additional effort from them - they don't process those images, but unless you pay extra all the unedited images just get deleted. This just goes to show how ingenuine they are and predatory, someone like that shouldn't be in the business of capturing the precious beauty of your newborn. In addition, we had a terrible experience with Matt's website for selecting the photos we wanted for the final edit. He slapped ridiculous watermarks all over the photos, and I really mean all over, so that it was hard to actually see the baby's face. Because of those watermarks we initially selected some photos where the baby's face wasn't properly in focus - because you couldn't see the photos very well! It is a whole different red flag that a professional photographer wouldn't pay attention to that and would post photos that are not in focus for his customers, but at least after we made our selection Matt had some basic decency to let us know that some photos were not in focus, so we chose different ones. We also decided to make use of their printing packages and ended up paying a little extra for more prints, and regretted that also, because it took Matt 2 months to print our photos and send them to us, even though initially he told us he gets photos printed every 2 weeks. Finally, while the photos we got are cute because our baby is cute, there was literally zero creativity involved in making those photos. Look at their instagram, the photos you see posted will be the exact photos you get for your baby, down to the angle. I initially booked the more expensive session with parents, but upon requesting some samples of what their parent+baby photoshoot looked like changed my mind and went for the baby-only package because their photos of babies with parents were all just cookie cutter copy-paste of each other - they literally just have 4 or 5 of the same poses that they have everyone do. I just don't think that kind of soulless, lacking any imagination or personality cookie-cutter service is worth the high price tag that Matt Cramer photography has slapped on it. Considering all of that, I am not happy with my experience and wouldn't recommend anyone to use their services, there are plenty of photographers who shoot in the same wrapped-baby style with better overall experience for clients, I wish I had chosen someone else. I made a deposit for our family session with his wife, Jessica, during my third trimester. She was very friendly and informative about the session and what we needed to wear. We are so happy we did our 9 month Sitter Session with Matt and Jess. I was about 7 months pregnant when I contacted Matt Cramer Photography, I found them on Instagram and I instantly fell in love with their work! Specially the newborn session which that's what I was looking for my baby girl! Jessica was super nice and we coordinated my baby's session. Unfortunately COVID-19 showed up and the quarantine started! Jessica contacted me and offered me other session options since they were closed due to the quarantine and they were not an essential business. I had hopes that the quarantine would have finished by the end of April, but when it was extended until May 16th all my hopes of having a newborn session for my baby were gone! My girl was born in April, just In the middle of the quarantine. This is our first baby and I was so looking forward to have a newborn session for her and I was extremely sad that this wasn't going to happen. I let Jessica know that my baby was born, and she emailed me back and asked me if I was willing to test an idea of having at least one pretty "newborn photo" guiding me through FaceTime or text to have me photograph my baby's face and send it over to them. I said yes of course!!!! She gave me clear instructions on how to take the photo, since lighting, position, clothing, etc and honestly it was really easy to follow her steps! I was able to take some photos and I sent them over to her. My expectations were not too high but I thought to at least try. Jessica got back to me the next day and omg!!!!! My story...our baby girl was 6 weeks early and born at 4lbs. She had to spend 5 days in NICU which turned into 25 days after she contacted MERSA at the hospital. Needless to say when we got her home we were thrilled and so thankful. As first time parents, my husband and I knew we wanted to get newborn photos taken. However, with the pandemic going on, we were very hesitant to get them taken. In light of everything going on, I did a lot of research for newborn photographers in the LA area. What drew us to Matt Cramer Photography was how thorough they were on their website about the safety measures they were taking (temperature check, COVID checklist, sanitizing all props, spacing out sessions, etc.) and the amount of newborn training they have. After reaching out, Jess sent us a warm and comforting email reiterating more detailed information about their safety precautions and COVID policy which comforted us and helped us ultimately decide to go ahead with the photo shoot. Matt and Jess are both great and easy to work with. I wanted neutral palettes for the photo shoot and they were accommodating and did a great job coming up with all of the different poses and set ups. They took care of everything (feeding the baby, diaper changes, soothing her, etc.) and we could not be more happy with the way all of the photos turned out. It was 100% worth the investment and we are so glad that they captured these once in a lifetime photos. Matt and Jess are simply the best, no question. We love our newborn photoshoot and are so happy with our decision to go with their studio. They were extremely careful, and followed all the COVID protocols. Their studio space is beautiful and they took care of our baby so well. Jess is absolutely a baby whisperer. Our little one didn't cry at all and loved his swaddle time. Before our session they asked about our color and theme choices, so when we showed up on the day, they had laid out all the props for our approval based upon our selection. It was perfect. Our baby was born in early March, just as the pandemic was starting to ramp up. Pretty much the only time we've left the house was to go to a newborn photoshoot at Matt and Jessica's. It was totally worth it! They are absolute professionals, a pleasure to interact with, and the best at what they do. They did an amazing job during the shoot, and took every precaution possible. We felt totally comfortable and now we have a wonderful set of photos that we can share with our family, who has not been able to meet the little guy in person just yet. Highly recommend! read more

We found Matt and Jessica here on Yelp and decided to go with them for our son's newborn photos. I'm so glad we did! From initial contact to delivery of digital prints, they were wonderful. When the day came for our son's session, we arrived at Matt and Jessica's studio and felt completely at home. So much in fact that after 15 minutes, my husband and I snuck out for a bite to eat! I felt 100% comfortable leaving our 11 day old baby in their care. The photo shoot took about 3 hours and they were able to keep our little guy asleep for almost the entire time! He didn't cry once. Following the photo shoot Jessica kept in contact with us to let us know where they were at with the photos. I expected there to be a delay since our photoshoot was around Thanksgiving, but we received digital images very quickly. I am a first time mom and gave birth this past Sept. and honestly never thought to get newborn photos, however once my daughter was born, I realized that I truly wanted to capture how precious she was during the newborn period. By chance they had availability for a next day shoot and told me that it was rare case since they are usually fully booked and require booking months in advance. Not only did the photos turn out beautiful, they are the kindest, most welcoming, and lovely people to work with. They were super quick to respond to any questions I had, were very thorough and detailed, and they are genuine to their core. During my last few months of pregnancy I decided I wanted to invest in a newborn photoshoot. This investment proved to be one of the best I've made. We spend money on photography for weddings, and to me having my little girl was far more monumental than my wedding. I did a lot of research and calling. This photography duo were who I chose for many reasons. 1. Jess personally called me within a few short hours of inquiry and spoke very candidly with me on the phone 2. Their style matched what I wanted and was very timeless. While I appreciated some of the other photograhers' style in the area - they added a lot of props whereas Matt and Jess still focus on the baby. You don't lose the perfection of your child's little characteristics in the picture by large obscene florals, etc. After doing the shoot I can honestly say they were very professional, endearing and I have no regrets. My baby has never had a "sleepy" character. Even as a newborn she was very alert. Yet the figured out how to capture her looking like a newborn and "sleepy" with perfection. Jess truly was patient and loving with my baby. As a new mother you tend to be very selective and worried all the time. I'm so grateful for Jess and Matt. They eased any worry on the phone when I was scheduling with them as well as the moment I walked into their beautiful home. It's definitely an investment but well worth it in my opinion. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Matt and Jess! What a PHENOMENAL team! Matt and Jess made each photo session with our daughter memorable. We had the opportunity to have Matt and Jess capture our daughter's newborn pictures in April 2022. Our April baby was supposed to be a May baby...but she had other plans. Without a flinch, Jess leaped into action and help to set the new date and time for her pictures. Just as previous people have indicated- Jess communicates with you every step of the way- she responds quickly and helps you feel prepared for the day of. She sent us a detailed email of what was needed and how to prepare. As any newborn parent will tell you- having someone think of the details and plan for you is a godsend. They have the warmest and most loving environment. Jess is truly a baby whisperer and Matt's camera work is magical. As a mom- I took notes on how they had everything for our baby. She was so relaxed and happy! They were so patient and meticulous with each snap of the camera. Every picture we received was absolute perfection. Not only did we get pictures of our baby girl, but some wonderful family pictures. Not to be egotistical- but as someone who went through labor and navigating all the new newborn things- they helped me look like a functioning human and I'm forever indebted to them for that! We were over the moon with how professional, caring, and thoughtful they were that we knew we had to come back for her 1 year cake smash picture...and I am so happy we did! Just as we experienced a year before- they had everything ready for our baby! Jess had the best outfits and we were able to pick up from where we left off. As expected- each picture was perfection!
