I decided to finally face my fears and get my first tattoo. I stumbled across Jing when I was searching for artists and while the salon wasn't in my area I was willing to make the trip anyway. I emailed my idea and availability and they got back to me a few days later because they were on vacation. I didn't end up booking until maybe almost a month later (emailed in June) because I had to make sure I had the right amount of funds. Thankfully the deposit I made secured my spot for the following week and due to wanting a change in the design Yida was kind enough to consult with me on the change. I've been wanting to get a tattoo for the longest time, and after doing some research, I came across Jing on Instagram and just knew I had to get my first one from her. Setting up an appointment was very easy. I sent an email through their website, and within 24 hrs, I heard a response back. They were kind enough to squeeze me in the weekend I was home for Thanksgiving, but I wanted to give myself more time to finalize my tattoo design, so I made my appointment for after Christmas. Paying the deposit online was super simple, and I paid for the rest through cash in store after getting my tattoo (as paying with card comes with a fee). About a week before my appointment, I got an email confirming the design I wanted. And then a day before my appointment, I got an email reconfirming my appointment and instructions on what I should and shouldn't do to prepare for my tattoo. I got to the store early and was greeted by a guy at the front desk. He had me sign some paper work and printed out some samples for me to decide on the size of my tattoo. When it was time for me, Jing helped figure out the final placement as I was still debating between my forearm and bicep. This was my first tattoo, so I was worried that it would be super painful. However, Jing had the most gentle hand and since it was a fine line tattoo, it wasn't that bad. The tattoo part took about 40 minutes, and I could tell how much of a perfectionist Jing is. She made sure to take her time and go over the lines multiple times to get some nice, sharp details. After the procedure was over, the guy at the front desk took some photos of my tattoo and Jing place a clear bandage over it. The guy then took my payment and explain how to take care of it as it heals. Overall: Jing is an amazing artist and I'm really glad I chose her to do my first tattoo. I reached out to Jing months in advance to book an appointment for this past weekend. I wanted a geometric design of a Chihuahua in memory of my first dog. This was my third tattoo and I did my research for months to find the perfect artist. Jing's tattoo work speaks for itself, take a look at her Instagram and you will understand why I took a 4+ hour bus ride from the DMV to NYC just for a tattoo from her. About a week before my tattoo, Jing sent a draft of the design. I was in love and could not wait till my appointment. When I arrived, Jing was running behind from another client so my original 5pm appointment was pushed to 530pm. Completely understandable, sometimes it is hard to gauge how long a tattoo can take. Jing and staff were apologetic so I was fine to grab a drink from a nearby coffee shop while I waited. As my tattoo began, I had requested privacy screens since my tattoo was on my rib cage so my shirt had to be off for the session. I was thankful that Jing completely covered the entire station's area for me :) Ribs are one of the most painful spots to get a tattoo, but Jing is so gentle that the pain from my arm falling asleep outweighed the pain of the tattoo at some points in the session :P She really has a calmness about her that really settled my nerves. I am so in love with my new tattoo, Jing really brought to life what I wanted and I would recommend Jing to anyone looking to get a tattoo! I had been meaning to get a second tattoo for the longest time but I wanted to make sure every permanent inkling on my body has big meaning. I reached out to the crew via email and received a response within a day or two. I had also reached out to the team a day after confirming my appointment to make an appointment for my mom. We both got price estimates and my appointment was 9/3 and mom's was 9/16, but got it done on 8/21 after the team reached out about a cancellation and was able to do both of ours on the same day. What can I say? I have nothing but great things to say about Jing. Yida (the guy in the front) handles interactions with the clients including phone calls and yelp. When I came in for a consult, I was surprised at the price and decided to follow through with it because I have heard great things about this place. Yida helps you with the placement, the sizing and the color. He may seem like he wants you to go through with it because he cares about what you want to put on your body forever. He will go over anything if you ask him. Any questions or concerns, he'd be more than happy to help you. I had a 12pm appointment and was told it would take about 2 hours. 2 hours you say? Well, it depends on what kind of piece you want; whether or not it needs a lot of shading or fine lines. I was not disappointed. The amount I paid was on par with the meticulous detail put into the tattoo, the shading is perfect, the fine lines and everything was just so breathtaking. If you are thinking about coming here to get inked, don't hesitate. You are truly in good hands. The pain on the other hand was extremely tolerable. Since I got it on my shoulder where the skin is thicker, the pain was not bad at all. However, the shading got quite pinchy at certain points because you have to think about the needle going over the same area repeatedly! Shortly after Jing finished up on my shoulder, Yida came in to take photos of the piece. Some people may find this weird but I see it as an artist who loves their work and wants to document it. After, she patched me up with a bandage and Yida went over the aftercare instructions. Also, the tattoos come with a touch up that expires within 3 months just in case the healing process doesn't go as smoothly. Just remember that this doesn't account for your own mistakes like going out in the sun when you were told not to, bumping into things and scratching off your tattoo! Just got my FIRST EVER tattoo at Jing's earlier today and I'm beyond satisfied with the finished product!!!! For the longest time, I've been trying get a tattoo, so it is without a doubt that I was going to be super picky with the artist. I have researched many places from San Francisco to Florida to New York to Europe to Greece, and everything led me back to Jing's. Aside from her work, her story of perfecting/expanding her style while in China and Korea, is a must read. Location: Jing's Tattoo shop is located in Flushing, and they just moved to a bigger space just a couple blocks down. Service: Prior to my 1st consultation, I emailed Jing about my thoughts on a piece and she quickly responded to schedule a face to face consultation. During my 1st consultation, I was helped by Wei, another tattoo artist at Jing's. Wei was super friendly in mapping and brainstorming 1 of the 2 pieces I want. He was very reassuring in getting the piece I want, whether it's the size, location and/or design. A deposit is required to book the appointment/working on a design (about 1/5 of estimated price of tattoo). Upon arrival today, I was greeted by Yida. Yida works the front desk and he is Jing's translator as Jing isn't super fluent in English (she speaks Mandarin and I believe Korean). Yida was very welcoming and attentive as he double checked on exactly what I wanted, where I wanted, and all the other formality stuff.  Everyone in this staff was super friendly and most importantly, they don't pressure you in any sort of way. Work: Being it my first tattoo, I was super nervous and also, I'm not big on needles and blood (I didn't tell Jing this as I didn't want to psych/worry her). Upon first touch, the pain was not bad at all. It's hard for me to compare the hands as this is my first tattoo artist (and probably my only!), but I can say Jing has a very gentle touch. As I'm laying there and watching the clock, I can tell that Jing is super detailed, cautious, and a perfectionist. She lets nothing distract her as her eyes are laser focused into her artwork. I was very surprised that this tiny piece would take ~1.5hrs, but I knew that great quality work takes time. We took a break midway, and continued to go on. I had the opportunity to see Jing outline the Roman numerals prior to shading it in. TBH, the outline almost convinced me to just leave it as it is. The lines were so precise and clean! The finished product was amazing.   Price: The price for the tattoo was a bit on the higher side than I anticipated, but for me, to have something on your body for the rest of your life, the price didn't matter. You should be paying for the artist. Jing was worth every penny + tips. Overall: Although I went with a common design of Roman numerals for my first tattoo, I'm super happy that my first time was with Jing. Everything about the look, the experience, the service was way beyond my expectations. I know this won't be my last tattoo as I am already in discussion with Yida on my second piece. I strongly recommend Jing and her colleagues if you're ever looking for your first, or simply fine line designs. She makes sure that you are comfortable the whole time and let's you take a break if necessary - but she can also go for several hours straight without needing to stop herself. WOW, this is one tough chick. I just got my first tattoo ever. I went with Jing because this place is not at all intimidating, I wanted to support a female artist and she was open about my design and altering it into something I really wanted. It ended up completely beautiful. I chose traditional Ukrainian embroidery and she was meticulous about every cross "stitch". It felt more like heat than pain and completely tolerable for 1.5 hours. My first tattoo experience 7/1 I've been contemplating over the years about having a tattoo and if I did, who would I trust? what would I permanently get on my body? And what meaning would be behind it? I came across my tattoo artist because I've known him since our High School days. We had art class together. I was originally going to get the tattoo back in April when I set up my appointment in March when the pandemic hit. They were very helpful with rebooking my appointment. The tattoo session was satisfactory; I'm not sure if it was in consideration my first time or if I was just bleeding a lot, but Jing paused frequently to wipe at the tattoo before starting again. She also must have gone over it with ink about 3 times, which is something I could appreciate since it's such a fine line. The tattoo, on the other hand, I'm about 80% satisfied and 20% troubled. This wasn't something I picked up on until I got in the car with my friend right after the session, but the a's in the tattoo looked smaller than I remembered them. I showed my friend the reference image and she agreed, so I wasn't imagining it. The a's Jing did aren't uniform, and they're rounder and shorter than the ones in the reference image. The a's and o aren't closed off, but I figured it's because over time it'll probably close off anyways. The cross of one t is supposed to be slightly higher than the other, but I also figured the change was to avoid having them connect over time. Now I'm three days in, and my new worry is that every time I take a picture there seems to be a different blank spot. I've been staring at the tattoo for the past few days like it's my first newborn, so I'm probably just being nitpicky, but hopefully when it fully heals everything looks as it should be and I can 100% be satisfied with it. read more

I'm speaking solely from my experience and it was terrible. I got a small, subtle cross tattoo on my wrist and after 2 weeks, everything was completely gone. This isn't my first tattoo so I know what scabbing, fading, all those shenanigans look like. My tattoo after 3 weeks was nonexistent. I guess the frustrating part was that the guy kept reassuring me that the loss of ink was because it was fading but it's one thing for ink to fade and another to not have anything there. I also CLEARLY remember (although the man says otherwise) that mine wouldn't need a touchup anytime soon as opposed to my friend who got it on her finger. So despite being upset with the results, I went back after a month for a "touch up" about a week ago. To no surprise, the same process is happening again. I figure I wait another week and all the ink will come off. I'm pretty sure this isn't the experience every person who gets a tattoo on their wrist has. Service-wise, yes they're kind and accommodating (the only reason this review deserves any stars at all) but I'm so disappointed in this place. I highly suggest if you are wanting a small, precise, line-tattoo that you go elsewhere (to an artist who is more skillful and trained in that. My finger tattoo keeps fading! I took really really good care of it (legit showered with my tattooed hand outside the tub, put on tattoo ointment 2-3 times a day, did my best to cover the tattoo from the sun, etc). I went to touch up after THREE weeks of having it cause it was fading like REALLY bad, to the point where you can't even tell I had either a real tattoo or henna tattoo. And now my touch up is fading once again...after just 2 days. I appreciate the workers here trying to help and I understand finger/hand tattoos fade after like 3 months but this is just getting so ridiculous.. -_- read more

Came to Jing for my first tattoo and I highly recommend her if you want someone who pays extra attention to detail and is a perfectionist like Jing. Conveniently located in Flushing and as someone who usually Ubers around because I hate looking for parking in difficult areas, there were many spots available through meter parking. I would recommend downloading the park nyc app so you don't have to keep putting money in the machine, you can do it on your phone. This shop is on the pricier side but you are getting quality work from her so it is worth it. It's not just about the size of the tattoo it's also how much work goes into doing the tattoo so after spending 5 hours at the shop getting tattooed it really felt like I paid very little for the amount of work she did. Jing was so accommodating to my design requests which I appreciate because the tattoo came out so nice. She even gave me different size options and quotes and made sure I would be happy with the placement. The other tattoo girls are very nice as well and they all have their own styles that they specialize in. I'm not going to lie the aftercare was a little confusing at first because the website instructions compared to what I was told vs. the aftercare sign in the shop was different. But I got more clarity after I called the shop the following day. I would definitely come back to get tattooed by Jing again she made the experience a breeze! Also definitely recommended to pay in cash instead of card so you avoid extra fees. If you email them they will give you a quote so you can be prepared ahead of time. read more
