We ordered for take-out and the food was pretty tasteless. Ordered their Thai style noodle dish and Chicken with Broccolli dish, both were pretty tasteless. Given the menu is pretty wide ranging (Chinese, Thai, Japanese), suspect they are not able to be good at all of the dishes - at least for the Chinese and Thai dishes that we tried. read more

This is my first time ordering delivery from Jin28. I have only ever dined in before. Experienced trouble ordering online through Yelp, so I called the restaurant to place my order. The lady who answered was very nice and took down my order perfectly. I ordered shrimp fried rice, shrimp pad thai, basil fried rice, vegetable egg rolls, and 2 cans of soda. Damage was $38 including delivery fee, which was $12 less than another Thai restaurant in the area. The food arrived quickly, within 30 minutes, and was OK, just not great. I wouldn't recommend the egg rolls or pad thai. The basil fried rice made extra spicy was good, but could've used even more heat. The shrimp fried rice was nothing special. I think the food is better fresh when served in the restaurant. Not sure I would order delivery again... read more

This is our second time to this place. On our fist visit pad see eww was so good. I've told my brother and friends how good pad see eiw was. I've invited my friends and brothers family for my sons birthday lunch. Ordered pad see eiw, pad thai, fried rice and some other food. Most of us ordered thai ice tea. Thai ice tea taste like water with little flavor. All of our drinks doesn't taste good. It's like they shared one cup for 5 people. Pad see eiw was ok, unlike the first time we came in. PAD tai does not taste good at all. Its like drowning in sauce. Fried rice was good. All in all they should've made their food real good not just right or not good at all. Since we didn't have a good experience I don't know if we will come back to this place. My brother didn't like the food and so is my friends. And also they need to fix their bathroom. Oh yeah. My brother ordered sushi and they used regular rice not sushi rice. There's more rice than whats in the middle. So not good either. read more

Jin is my favorite Japanese/Thai restaurant in Naperville and the food is ALWAYS consistent. Between the snow mountain sushi and Mongolian beef, this is some of the best Japanese/Thai food I've ever had. Delivery is always quick and the food is always fresh and hot. Went here for lunch yesterday and holy cow do they have some awesome lunch specials! You can choose from Japanese cuisine (rolls and sashimi) or Thai cuisine for their lunch specials , and there are tons of options for vegans/vegetarians (like me) or meat lovers (my date). All the specials are under $10 and there is plenty of food! I chose an avocado roll and a sweet potato tempura roll (which was AMAZING by the way) and Miso soup for just $6.95. So all in, my date and I got tofu lettuce wraps, seaweed salad, two lunch specials , and sake for just $38. Definitely coming back! read more

Decided to give it a try even though it spans too many different types of Asian food to be good at anything in particular imo. Ordered a large order of yellow curry chicken to carryout. When I went to pick up, I asked for some chili paste/oil to spark it up. The cashier whispered a few things to a guy in the kitchen, then he looked back at me and said "That'll be $1 extra."...and for a small 1 oz container btw. This place really went downhill. I used to enjoy their sushi, but today's order was a complete disappointment. Nothing seemed fresh. Tom Yum soup was flavorless, I felt like it was mixed with water for volume or something. Sushi rice had a weird taste like it was old. It was dry and weirdly chewy. Rolls were falling apart as soon as you picked them up. 3 different rolls all tasted the same - fishy and unpleasant. The other thing is delivery. I ordered through Grubhub, but somehow this place doesn't use Grubhub drivers, but their own. It took over an hour to get the delivery. The delivery person was a very sweet lady, but she completely ignored my request for contactless delivery. She stood literally at my door, looking into the house through the window near the door. I find it a bit strange and unsafe to be standing that close because when I opened the door, she was literally there in my face. She was wearing a mask, but still it's a bit unsettling for me. Well that was a mistake. We should have realized something was wrong when walked in at 7pm on a Saturday night and the place was basically empty. The only thing I can say positive is that the egg rolls were good. The crab Rangoon was bland and had no crab flavor at all. They were all cream cheese and onion. The chicken satay was equally bland. What they called peanut sauce was actually coconut milk with so little peanut sauce as to be only coconut flavored sauce. If you are going to advertise peanut sauce, buy some peanut butter and add it to the coconut milk. Otherwise, just call it coconut sauce. The Singapore beef was raw when it first came out and overcooked when it came back out. That is a sure sign of a lazy or incompetent chef. I have been to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore and what I ate here would only be found at the lower quality hawker stands. There are so many other places in the area that are so much better that I will not waste money at one that is this bad. read more

Probably the worst Chinese, Thai we have had in Naperville. Panda Express has better fried rice and ragoons. They gave us curry fried rice instead of Thai we ordered. I told her this and she said no it was right. Told her to take it back. Someone else came out and we told him and he agreed it was wrong and would get us the Thai. Meanwhile daughter tried her salmon and said it "tasted like lake water." I tried it and gagged. Awful! Got our new rice and guess what, it was Chinese style and yet again not Thai. Never gonna make it. Sorry, Jin. Never gonna make it. I went here after doing a show at The Comedy Shrine in the area, and used to live in the area, but now moved. I know how Naperville restaurants go... people go at first because it's something new, "Ooh, Let's try this place." and then they flock to it in the first few weeks and then the clientèle slowly but surely drops. People stick to their staples: Jimmy's, Sushi House, Sullivan's, La Sorella, etc. What do these places also all have in common.... they have outdoor seating... this place does not. Frankly, it's like the same thing as Moshi Moshi, and I have no idea how that place is still kicking. The market is too concentrated for mediocre sushi places. Now, for my review. Decor: Very nice, cute, city like. But, a little confused... contemporary floral and Japanese in front and 'Friends Sushi" like white and blue in back. Too eclectic for this town. I liked it, though. Food: Disgusting. Disgusting. Gross. Chemical tasting and frozen fish. Disgusting. Service Terrible minus one woman who was very nice, other than that.... terrible. I wish i could say this place was at least clean... but can't, there was a big green bug on my mother's plate and bits of food in the forks. First off, I don't feel too good. No, really, I just ate there and I'm feeling a little...off. That said, here's my actual review: The food was terrible! I got the california roll/sushi combo and was horribly disappointed. The miso soup was terribly bland. The salad was pre-made with some fake ginger dressing. The sushi was SUPER tough and rubbery. I've never had frozen sushi before but I can only imagine that this is what it tastes like. The california roll was VERY strange. The seaweed was inedible and everything seemed, well, warm. So my review of Jin28 is a dual review. The only reason I found this place was because I downloaded an app called grubhub on my iphone. It finds all of the local food places around you that deliver. You look at the menu, order, and pay through the app. So what does Jin28 look like? I have no idea. Are they nice on the phone? Who the hell knows. What I do know is they have a bomb ass menu and they deliver. The food was good. I eat pretty clean and I splurged for an old school favorite General tso's chicken and a spicy tuna roll. The chicken was all white meat...no fatty gross grisle chunks. The sushi was great. Best of all, my lazy azz just pulled my phone out, blipped a few key strokes and the magic sushi man was at my door in 45 minutes. If I could find a little bridge that I could live under with a power outlet, I would order all my food delivered there and make the driver's solve three riddles for ever increasing tip amounts. btw their prices are very reasonable. We went for sushi at lunchtime. The sashimi was freezing cold, as were the salads. Premade, waiting in the fridge for customers to order it? That seemed the likely explanation. The fish in the spicy tuna roll wasn't going to make me ill, but the batch was set to be discarded before the next day (I sure hope so, anyhow). As another reviewer mentioned, you get what you pay for. While shopping one Saturday afternoon, a friend pointed out this restaurant. She isn't one to make decisions so when she does, I go with it. Menu looked good, and they had a lunch special. Done. We both ordered the vegetarian lunch special. It supposedly came with soup, salad, and the sushi rolls. We got the salad, no soup. Ok, no big deal. The sushi came and it was dreadful. My friend didn't even finish hers. It was chewy and flavorless, and no amount of wasabi or soy sauce could help it. Grub Hub's pickins for my area are SLIM yall, but tonight I really really really REALLY needed Chinese food so I decided to chance it and order from Jin 28. Great success! I was a little worried because the menu is extraordinarily varied and MASSIVE, and I always feel like ya can't be good at everything, ya know? Like why does this restaurant do Thai, Chinese, sushi...? But I didn't panic and pressed on - I ordered potstickers, orange chicken, the BBQ pork lo mein, and a philly roll for my husband and I to share. GrubHub estimated our wait to be 50 mins and I patiently (crabbily... I was hangry) waited for the food to arrive. 75 mins later, I was like turbo mega ultra starving and getting angry when our door finally buzzed. My husband went to answer the door to find a small Asian man running toward him shouting "SO SORRY SO SLOW TONIIIIIIGHT!!!" He thrust the food at him and off he went. Well, points for presentation, I guess. The food was all packed neatly and smelled delicious. The potstickers had a weird texture (I'm used to steamed or pan fried, these were like straight up deep fried), but the sauce that accompanied them was delightful. The orange chicken was good, but nothing special. The bbq pork lo mein was DELICIOUS. Thick, well-cooked noodles in a delightful brown sauce with assorted veggies and a generous portion of thinly sliced, well-flavored BBQ pork pieces. I could have eaten just this as my whole entree, but we were sharing, dammit. The philly roll was shockingly good for delivery, and I would totally venture into more exotic sushi selections for our next order. The food here isn't cutting edge or trendy or memorable, but it's well priced, well portioned, fresh, and they deliver. On some nights, that's all I need to be happy. And it's not pizza. But all the dishes we've tried have been merely "meh." The Pad Thai is passable I guess, if you've not had Pad Thai anywhere else ever before. Strange to read so many poor reviews? A group of friends and I had a fantastic meal, soup, appetizers, sushi, and dinners and the bill was super cheap!?! Miso soup fantastic. Sushi super fresh. Tofu Pad Thai excellent. Great portions! Service was impeccable. Our water glasses never reached half full and the tea was flowing! Our server came by several times to make sure we were completely satisfied! It was a full house with all different types of clientele and several families. The ambiance is soothing and the restaurant is impeccably clean. It was our first time dining here and we will be returning! read more

We came to eat here last Thursday . Waiters were all seated and on their phones so I had to make sure they are open for dinner service. Then I realized one customer at the sushi bar area. Interior was outdated and floor was sticky. Server that took down order wasn't as courteous as expected but to our delight the food portions were big! We ordered Jumbo Shrimp Fried Rice, combination Egg Foo Young, Chicken Penang and Kids meal for Sweet and Sour chicken with French fries then Mango Smoothies. We had enough of the food and still had half of the servings to take home. Pretty good price , just need to scrub the floor so it's not sticky. My girls loved the smoothies, bit too sweet for me . Had Jin 28 for the first time, got it delivered. Not impressed. I ordered the seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll, and shrimp tempura. $24.21 including tax, delivery & tip. Spicy tuna was not very spicy... It was actually pretty boring. Shrimp tempura was ok, better than the spicy tuna, but again nothing exciting. The sushi rolls were pretty small, which I knew based on the piece count provided on their menu... But there really wasn't much fish in each roll.... And I was not very full after eating them. Only positive is that their seaweed salad ($5) is a decent size compared to restaurants in Chicago. Most likely I will not order again. Not bad but not great. read more

Unfortunately, that's as far as I got. My chicken came out, and was lukewarm at best. My husband tried a bite, and his piece was actually COLD! I complained to our waitress, who seemed completely clueless and was unsure what to do. I told her I wanted a new order. My husband completed his meal, and I just wanted to get out of there. I flag down the waitress again to cancel the order, and she said the meal was done, and said she'd bring it out to me. When asked if I was still expected to pay for it, she said YES! One question: Why is the pad thai pink? My theory: They use sweet and sour sauce perhaps? Or they don't know what pad thai is? Either way, for Asian food to be this restaurant's "thing," they are a far cry from that. I am not Asian nor a culinary expert, but I can safely say I'd prefer my home cooked Asian food than here. In fact, I'd rather have a pad thai TV dinner than theirs. To top it off, their sushi is cheap, which speaks for itself. You get what you pay for. I gave this place a few chances and it was never consistent. Bad sushi, terrible pad thai, and inconsistent when I ordered their orange chicken (part of it was hot, the center of it was cold). I tried all three of their cuisine types: Japanese, Thai, and Chinese and all were bad. I gave Jin 28 more chances than it deserved. I will not be returning. Terrible! I'll never eat here again! I ordered the chicken pad thai, mild, and with no bean sprouts. I didn't realize "mild" meant "totally flavorless" and that they don't put any vegetables at all in their pad thai. The chicken is very bland, as well, and oddly hard to chew... not just dry, it almost tastes like it's some sort of super-tough chicken breast substitute? It even looks rubbery. The noodles are awful - they're all like 1-2 inches long and totally stuck together. I ate a few clumps and gave up. It's just gross; neither the lime wedge nor tablespoon of dry, clumpy peanut bits helped at all. The portion size is great, which is a huge shame because it means I'm just wasting a ton of food now. The egg drop soup is thin and I think I'm tasting sesame oil in there. It's not terrible, but I don't want to finish it. The crab rangoon is flat, squishy and tepid. Very oniony, but not awful. I'll probably finish these since they're tolerable. One of my friend's rolls had a hair on it! Ew! Huge waste of my money, and I was hoping to treat myself today :( read more

2.5 stars. Decent food; some dishes seemed overpriced considering the portions. I feel like Jin 28 would do better if it was more of an Asian fusion restaurant with strikingly beautiful, creative, unusual dishes. Instead it feels like they just happen to serve standard Chinese, sushi, and Thai dishes all on the same menu. When our order of the Old Country Tofu came out, we found that the tofu had gone bad. Thankfully they were quick to replace it with a new one. Flavor was just okay. At the end of our meal, someone different from our waitstaff thanked us for coming and gave us a $10 gift certificate. He wasn't very clear about what it was for but we're assuming it was an apology for the tofu. I appreciated the gesture and it'll probably cause us to return and give them another chance. I was impressed that they had a vegetarian dragon roll available, but I found its flavor to be lacking. The maraschino cherries on the top were interesting but I didn't like the overall taste. (Could be that I'm spoiled from a mind-blowing equivalent I had in Seattle which was also $10.) read more

Another just average Asian restaurant in downtown Naperville. I split a roll with one other person, and it was pretty good - a tempura shrimp roll topped with white tuna and spicy mayonnaise. Mild tasting, but pretty good. My entree was Szechuan beef...and this was really missing something. I like the veggie mix - baby corn, bell pepper, and bamboo shoots - and the meat was tender, but it didn't have something. I don't know if it needed more...salt? More MSG? Something like that? I dunno. It just wasn't all that good. I would say a 3 or 3.5 for the sushi, and a 2 or 2.5 for the beef - I'll be generous and say 3 stars overall. I might go back...but I'm still on a half-hearted search for reliably tasty Chinese in the suburbs, so I'd try elsewhere before returning. Ordered delivery one night- which I must say was an easy process done online and everything was delivered nicely. Unfortunately- the food kinda sucked. Quite possibly the worst pad Thai I have ever had, even worse than the time I attempted to make my own pad Thai when I first started cooking many years ago. We did not eat those leftovers, as we did not eat these leftovers.... The basil beef we ordered had one small piece of basil in it and was smothered with bell peppers. I thought for a second I ordered steak and peppers? I was so confused. Was nothing like the Thai dish that I expected and have had at other places, including freakin Thailand. Thai red curry was okay, but again, way too many bell peppers in it what in the world?! The only thing that was pretty good was the sushi we ordered. This honestly was my favorite Chinese restaurant until tonight. I had a very rude delivery driver from the resteraunt and the food was undercooked so I literally couldn't chew it to eat it. They refused to help me or refund the order. I have ordered from them probably a hundred times, I've never complained once. If you can't offer help the one time I have an issue, then I simply won't do business with you. I'm on the look out for a new place now. read more
