We were seated pretty quickly, and first round of drink orders taken. First sign this isn't a top of the line place: drinks came in disposable plastic cups. Our server was friendly, despite being a bit overwhelmed by all the orders. Got fried pickle appetizer. Not bad at all, hot and with a nice crunch. Came with a very tasty dipping sauce. My side salad was very simple but fresh, and I got a balsamic vinagrette dressing which was good. Several of us ordered chicken wings, and they came out hot and nicely crispy. We tried a variety of the sauces and toppings - all were good EXCEPT garlic parmesan: nasty stuff. Tasted like feet. Chicken pot pie was more like a thick chicken soup with a pastry on top. That said, it was very good and the pastry was wonderful. Just not a classic pot pie at all. Several got the cheesesteak, which was average. Bread was kind of dry, but it was okay. Burgers were a hit, as was the Salmon. They have some very tasty desserts, although I suspect they are sourced at Costco or something like that. I base this on similarity to those stores' offerings and the too-perfect uniformity of slices. Not to say they weren't good though. Everyone thought they were. I'd go back if I was in the area and hungry, but it's nothing special. Not great, not bad. Kinda what you'd expect along the road in Greencastle

Entrance isn't immediately obvious the dining room is on the left side of the building from the street. The sportbar is in the right side. Whatever... I ate in the dining room. It was a nice quiet space where your can enjoy a quiet conversation. I liked that. Service was friendly and at least initially was attentive. We got drinks and menus than she disappeared! For 20 minutes! Ugh. The good news was that the food came out quickly once the offset went in. I ordered the tavern burger without bread. It was tasty with nice crisp edges without ending up dry and well done inside. I really liked the fries which came out hot and stayed crisp without all that nasty coating you find in other places. In all I was satisfied with my visit. Good, not outstanding. I will visit again. I guess that's an endorsement, right?

Came across this as one of the few locations near Whitetail Resort that serves booze, because the…read moreski resort very surprisingly does not. Actually, the fact that this place exists as a sole entity nestled amongst a village of about 1500 is probably a blessing for both visitors and locals. Apparently the residents in the viscinity of the ski lodge voted to keep the place alcohol free, but that could someday change. In the meantime, the Mansion is well serving of your alcoholic and munchie needs and at a much more reasonable price than standard resort fares. It's a small location despite its name, with a handful of tables and bar space. The bartender mentioned they have additional seating that opens at certain times or for large parties perhaps. Closed Sundays and Monday's, opens around 4 pm on Tuesday. We showed up around 5:30 pm, and it was freezing inside. It has been a warmish winter day, but I was grateful I kept my ski gear on. They turn the heat up for the week when they reopen, and it's an old building so it takes some time to rewarm. The bartender is awesome-incredibly friendly, prompt, down to earth. Easy to talk to, whether he acknowledges that gift or not I can't be sure. I'd come back just to hang out with him. The blackboard outside the bar read "Everyone makes us happy-some when they arrive, some when they leave :)" which may sum up his personality better than trite observations from a brief, casual encounter. In any case, he makes the place worth visiting. Their drink and food selection is more than adequate, though not particularly diverse in its range, but still offers something for everyone. Beers and bloody Mary's were our drinks, and the Bloody Mary had a quality mix. I added their hot sauce (something Cajun) to make it as spicy as I like. They were well mixed and went down easy. We split fried pickles, onion rings, and chicken tenders. There was enough for us 3 to have one or two pieces of each. The fried food was good! Standard bar fare, but still higher end ingredients. You can sometimes just tell it's not GFS, but something better. The pickles were full pickles, not the sliced chip variety. They had a couple salads, a BLT and burger on the menu as well. If you are a tired skiier, a local art school kid, a townie in need of a buzz, or a traveler weary from your time on the road, come here and refresh your mind and body with fine spirits from the Mansion.

I was going to order a cider and the server could tell I wasn't so sure, so she offered a sample. I ended up liking it and ordering one, but love that they do that as an option! My friend and I wanted just about everything in the menu & decided to share a couple things. We started with the Poutine. It was good, but a bit light on the cheese curds and on the saltier side. Maybe on purpose cause we were in the bar area? lol. Don't get me wrong, we still pretty much ate all of it. Then we split a burger and opted for a side of Mac-n-cheese rather than getting more fries. The burger was tender and really good, and the mac-n-cheese was amazing! I can't really tell you why, just creamy goodness that hit the spot. Try it for yourself and see if you can explain it. We ordered some Ruebens to go and our teens devoured them! So sadly I didn't get a chance to sample the Ruben, just the delicious crispy homemade chips that came with. Already planning for next time we're up there - we want to some Pierogis & the Prime Rib panini. Just wish there was a Pierogi sampler on the menu!
