I was in and out in about an hour! The waiting area is comfortable, clean, and has a cold water dispenser so I was able to refill my water bottle. It was only $148 for the oil change, disposal of old oil few, new quarts of oil, labor, taxes!! Excellent value!! The owner is very personable, kind, and has a wry sense of humor! when our friend mike told me that MICHAEL'S AUTOMOTIVE won't "screw you", that they do what needs…read moreto be done, without looking for and finding a million things they insist NEED to be done, like RIGHT NOW, all in the name of the holy $$$.....that they are trustworthy, honest, and reasonable..... figured we would give them a shot. my '08 pontiac G5 was having an issue, and several other garages insisted it was a transmission problem, and refused to touch the car, instead recommending a tran$mi$$ion $peciali$t. i was heartbroken, then took our friends advice. it turned out to be a simple, 265.00 fix, since the great crew at MICHEAL'S AUTOMOTIVE properly diagnosed the problem. i was elated! turns out "little blue" (pontiac) is the third car i've had, where it is supposedly a p.i.t.a. to change a headlight bulb. every single other garage insisted upon a few/several hundred dollars to do this job, (on 2 other cars, one a prius) something to do with having to remove the front panel from the car. but waaaait, garages charge hourly, right?? not sure why/how a simple two bolts being removed warrants a 600.00 bill. a few garages in the past did the job at original quoted rate, but whined and pouted about it after the job was done, letting me KNOW they were doing me a favor by so doing. ('cos, you know, "we had to remove the front end off the carrrr!") michaels crew did the job quickly, and even noticed a detail relating to another light, which i was unaware of. they repaired it. with no whining. and they charged a very reasonable price. i am both impressed and thrilled. thank you, MICHAEL'S AUTOMOTIVE. you will see us again.

So I called Rowland St. and they said if I want to wait during the service, I could have an appointment in about 2 days. A few more minutes on the phone and it was set up. Also, their new building has a pleasant waiting area and pleasant, low-key staff. Have you had a jiffy oil change where they try to add on unnecessary services that you don't need? That didn't happen here. I explained what I was after, I pointed out something else I found, and I got good advice on how to resolve it. There was no upselling. Finally, I figured the service I needed would be outrageously expensive, so I researched to get a feel for what I was in for. IMHO, the final bill reflected a reasonable price for parts which I expected to be marked up obscenely. The labor, too, seemed fair for the task. In all it was a lot of money but it seemed appropriate after my worrying beforehand. I didn't expect to be saying this, but I'll probably be back for my next auto service.

Once installed, screws were left out and started to grind and make funny noises. Since we know about car repairs, we investigated to find these negligence. They did try to rectify, but they were not interested in standing behind their business name and make it right. We returned 3 times to address these concerns. They tried to address, but the damage was done. Mind you, we already spent thousands of dollars and still assumed the best to support local business. We are taking the truck elsewhere and have to spend extra money to get their unacceptable work done correctly. Read the inconsistency in the reviews. It's concerning when reviews have such dichotomy of extreme positive to negative. Consistency is key in any successful business.

It shouldn't pass inspection due to a leaky fuel tank and resulting "evap" issue. Pleasantly surprising result: for a reasonable price, R&S were able to bring the vehicle back to life, welding and sealing a new rear frame, replacing leaky gas tank, and giving back a well-running truck that passed inspection and should be good for at least a couple more years. Given what even very old used trucks are selling for these days, it was a bargain. Strongly recommend -- two thumbs up.
