I've never written a review for anything but I'm registering an yelp account to make a comment on Jim's Cornerstone. I took road test 4 times before I met Jim, and this fifth time after having a lesson with Jim I passed. Jim is the person that knows everything about driving and road test; even in such a short period of time he taught me so much. He identified my weakness right away and he taught me tricks that helped so much. In terms of the "unprofessional" and "unorganized" that many people mentioned, I find it untrue. Jim picked me up before my road test on time, gave me a lesson, took me to test, and sent me home; everything went so well and on time. Compare to the big corporate that treats you like a number instead of a student, only wants to separate you and your money, doesn't care if you pass or not, Jim really cares about you. Jim is generally a good person; he's a decent, funny person who cracks so many jokes to make you laugh and relax you. It doesn't matter what's the world view or political view of one person; it's okay to hold different views because not everyone is born in the same era and grow up in the same environment. Jim is a nice person, terrific teacher and he has my respect. Overall, I definitely recommend Jim's Cornerstone. read more

The worst!! Unprofessional and rude. Please go elsewhere rather than trusting your children with this company.

I took lessons with them that were offered at a school. My instructor was rude, sexist, and made me hate driving. I used to leave my lessons in tears and never went back. I forgot which instructor I had but he called me names and expected me to know how to drive right away. Go here if you want to be mistreated and not learn anything. read more

I have read many negative reviews about this school and I completely disagree. My daughter took driver's ed through Our Savior, and Jim's Cornerstone teaches there. My daughter's car instructor was Elka and she really liked her. A few days Jim substituted and my daughter liked him as well. She said he took an interest in the students and taught them a lot. I met him and he was a very nice man who really knew his business. At the road tests he looked out for his students. I would absolutely recommend this school. read more

Very disappointed. They showed up late to pick my son up, cut the lessons short, and the morning of the road test he was supposed to get picked up at 7:30 for. A 45 min lesson and the take him to a 9am road test appt. they didn't show up til 8:45. Gave him a 10 min lesson and got to the road test late. Very unorganized!!! And refused to make good on the shorted time. Will not use or recommend this company again. read more

My experience with Mr. Jim was positive. He does like to talk and tell stories, but it's his way to distract and not make the student feel nervous. I paid 5 lessons with another driving school with great reviews and failed. I had a couple of lessons with Mr. Jim and passed. He gave great advice and taught really well, especially the parallel parking! Dianne, who helped me set up the lesson was friendly and professional. I would recommend Jim Cornerstone to anyone, this guy has the knowledge and experience to make you pass the road test! Don't waste your time going anywhere else. You won't regret it. read more

Our daughter took Drivers Education through Our Savior New American School (OSNAS) who utilizes Jim's Cornerstone Driving School for the driving portion of their program. Our daughter was very comfortable driving with Dean every Saturday morning and had not one issue. We are passengers with our daughter driving and we are VERY comfortable with her driving. We can only praise Dean and Jim's Cornerstone Driving School for her great driving. read more

Jim not only didn't put my child on the schedule for his road test and lesson when I called to and made the appointment. I called to change the location of pick up that morning and that's how I found out, he then showed up an hour earlier than I was told he would be there. He thought it was a good idea to bash his drivers ed instructor to my son and change my sons way of parallel parking 60 minutes before he was to take the test. He is unprofessional and should teach anyone to drive especially our most prize possessions our kids. He also took my son to his house while he went inside for god knows what, but not to get me son change cause we never got any. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!!!!!! I gave 1 star cause I was forced to give a rating. read more

Well for the first 25 minutes of us driving around a parking lot. Jim was telling me about his various war crimes in the east indiantic sea. After I told Jim that the Indiantic sea did not exist, he proceeded to lecture me about how my generation doesnt know know how to work. After telling me his war stories, i broke it to jim that he didnt serve in the east indiantic sea war and that he wasnt a veteran of any kind because he had down syndrome. read more

Absolutely awful. Unprofessional and rude. My son has a 2pm road test . He was supposed to pick up my son at 12:45 for a 45 minute lesson prior to the test. At 12:36 he called to say he was leaving in 6 minutes and would be to my son in 25 minutes. I was speechless. At 1:35 he calls again to say he's driving all around and can't find the house. Utterly ridiculous! At 1:45 he finally picks up my son, with his lunch on the passenger seat no less, and starts giving him a lesson, claiming he didn't know my son has a road test. His car was a wreck with string holding up the brake pedal. He got my son to the test site 15 minutes late and the DMV test administrator was angry with my son. He failed him. I realize there are some positive reviews for this clown but because there are so many negative ones I urge you: STAY AWAY FROM JIMS CORNERSTONE. ALL HE WANTS IS HIS CASH IN AN ENVELOPE. These people are so unprofessional. The owner let his unlicensed friend drive with the kids instead of turning down $$$. His friend screamed and cursed at the kids when they made mistakes. When I called to complain all he did was move my kid to a different car. I wanted the instructor fired and they flat out blew me off. I had to leave work to pick up my crying child. In the beginning I thought Jim was a nice and sweet guy.... I WAS WRONG. He scared my daughter for life when he bagan to unbuckle his pants during the test, and ask for "Road Head". We immediately left and I'm advising no one to go here EVER. read more

I had both of my daughters go through this driving school. I found Jim to be nothing but pleasant, accommodating, patient, and prompt. These days our kids have crazy schedules and trying to meet all of the requirements for drivers ed in packed schedules is not easy. I had to call Jim 3 times in one week to try to sort out a couple of make up lessons. I expected it to be a difficult task. Jim is so used to this kind of request - and was so quick to resolve the conflicts. He is willing to schedule at our convenience - squeezing us in on Sundays if necessary. My first daughter said that his advice in the lessons she took with him really made a difference in what to expect for the road test. She passed the first time. WE are hoping and expecting the same for our second kid. Thanks Jim! read more

I just passed my road test today. I am so beyond happy and excited and I couldn't have done it without the help of Jim. He's absolutely the best in the business and if you need to learn to drive this business is the one you should use. Going into the first lesson I was so nervous and thought I had no chance at ever passing the road test. But after just the first lesson I felt so confident that I could. I even learned how to parallel park that same day. After 5 lessons I passed the road test on my very first try. Huge huge thank you to Jim and all the drivers at Jim's cornerstone. I am actually so disappointed in the reviews that I've read. My son just passed his driving test after driving with Jim for 3 weeks - he was absolutely great. He was extremely accommodating and helpful. I was referred by a friend who was referred by her friend...that is the best advertisement. My son really like the instruction and helpful hints. An older man driving alone in a light car with a sign on top of the car advertising Jim's Cornerstone Driving School cut me off today. I kept my eye on him he cut across two lanes going onto nicholes rd off 25a. He didn't signal. Can you imagine him training your kids to drive??? read more

Where do I even start with the unprofessional, uneducated, racist, sexist, xenophobic moron that runs this driving school? I took 10 lessons with him and didn't learn any driving. Unsurprisingly, I failed my road test today, which I had expected. He never actually taught me driving, as much as made snide disrespectful remarks about people of different genders and races while I attempted to drive. He talked through every lesson about his completely boring and mundane life stories, which was extremely distracting and deterred me from focusing on learning. He spoke to me with extreme condescension throughout the process, while his ignorant remarks always put me on edge. Having had no previous driving experiences and being completely new to it as an adult from a foreign country without a driving culture, paying money to Jim was the equivalent of flushing it down the toilet. I have learned nothing and need to start from scratch elsewhere, with hopefully a teacher that is actually mildly socially aware and does something close to instructing. I highly recommend paying a little bit more money to take your driving lessons elsewhere, especially if you are a new adult driver. read more
