After church, our pastor recommended this place for the tacos and menudo, and the menu offers so…read moremany options to choose from! Definitely authentic Mexican food and decent service. Polish up on your Spanish I was most impressed with the complimentary chips w/3 types of salsa and small bowls of frijoles a la charra for each of us YUM the beans were D-lish! I like to try what hasn't been reviewed yet so I had the Pozole Rojo (red hominy soup w/pork meat & spices) Very big serving bowl with lots of broth w/plain crisp tostadas x3. The Menudo and the Pozole were definitely at least a level 3 spice for me (but I'ma wimp when it comes to spice). The menudo, same generous size bowl, was too spicy for Ma so we took it to-go for my dad. Bro ordered Enchiladas Verdes plate w/chicken.. again very generous portion w/4 enchiladas rice n beans. The green sauce was a little spicy as well for him. He only ate half. Grandson ordered beef asada quesadilla plate which he loved served with rice and beans. Granddaughter ordered 2 plain bean and cheese tostadas but expected cheddar cheese and not queso fresco... well, I gobbled those up for her too! To drink, sweet tea has free refills, the large Jamaica was tasty, and the kids opted for Jarritos. It was 84.99 for three adults and two kids. A little pricy in my opinion but I'd go again to try more menu entrees.

The review is for a carry out order of pupusas for a gathering…read more The restaurant itself could be "seen" from the outside as a hole-in-the-wall. The security bars on the windows are less than inviting and their use of window signs could be tapered back to give a passerby a better idea of the interior. As is, not at all inviting. On the inside, at 1p on a Saturday, lively. Party lights were on, music in the background. Restaurant staff were having conversations with customers. It was a big hangout. I placed an order by phone a few hours in advance. Wasn't easy. At the time I was unaware that the owner was out and he speaks the most English. His employees tried their best and I tried to utilize Google translate as quickly as I could muster. We got er'done and the twenty pack assortment of pupusas was ready on time as requested. Five jalapeño, five pork, five chicken and five spinach. My only gripes was that pricing wasn't properly conveyed (online differs from charges in store) nor did (at the time of purchase) the owner reveal that they charge a "service fee" for cc usage. Almost $2 bucks is ludicrous imo. The pupusas were a hit. Something different, some Texans had tried them prior and excitedly looked forward. Others were newbies and found them delightful. I had two! Funny thing, the spinach was the least popular. All pupusas are stuffed with cheese and you can choose an additional ingredient. They offer a few choices. Don't get just one. They make them in house, so get an assortment and pair it with a hearty stew or meat. It should soak up well and that secondary entree will add depth to that tantalizing bread. Pupusas are served with a pickled shredded cabbage. Theirs is tasty and pairs well.

My husband and I were craving pupusas and decided to try this place. Unfortunately, we were really…read moredisappointed. He ordered the pork and cheese pupusa, but it lacked flavor, and the accompanying cabbage was not fresh or appetizing. I had the fried fish, which was overcooked to the point where it was dry and tough--fried all the way to the bone with no seasoning or flavor. The service was also lacking. Our waitress took our order, brought the food, and never checked on us again. The only positive thing I can say is that the beans and rice were actually pretty good. Sadly, that wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the experience. We won't be returning.
