Sam's son drove with me in the car to hear the sound that I was describing and decided that it would be a quick fix to shave down the worn rotors since they were disproportionately scraping against the new brake pads. Once again, they said if it kept giving me problems to return 2 days later- My car is still making the scraping noise. I told Sam that I had been there twice before and the small fixes had not worked. He recommended replacing the rotors. I decided for the best outcome, I'd replace the brakes and rotors since I've had all parts since the very beginning. After another 4-5 hours, they replaced everything and charged me $180. This is where I got upset. So from a simple problem, I ended up paying $240 for labor and about $80 for parts. Which nearly puts me back at the dealership prices. Because Sam acted as though he would fix the problems free of charge or for a discounted price when he told me to return if the small fixes didn't work, I thought I was getting the best deal in the beginning. BUT knowing what I know now, I would've just had them replace everything from the beginning and saved almost $100 and 9 hours of my time which both are precious during this pandemic.

I approved the extra charge, but when I got my vehicle back, the original issue was still not resolved and my check engine light remained on. They told me they could continue looking into it, but also mentioned that these types of warning signals "sometimes happen," which didn't give me much confidence. On top of that, I noticed my car was returned without proper care there was dirt left in the back seat. At this point, I no longer trust this shop to handle my vehicle. I will be exploring legal options and recommend others proceed with caution when considering their services.

I had my vehicle towed there due to a battery failure. I asked them to assess for other needs. They came back with a quote hundreds of dollars more than other places are now telling me but the worst is that they tried to give only a 3 month warranty on new parts and labor. Parts that typically come with a 12-24 month manufacturer's warranty. They want to proudly display a piece of paper on the office wall citing they are a minority owned business but they are predatory. I wasted an entire day and money on having my vehicle towed to them plus the $80 for diagnostics because they are a auto repair business that lied to me when I questioned them about offering a 3 month warranty. The receptionist said she was told to tell me that 'IL state law allows them to reduce warranty' . A place like this has no business operating in any of the 50 contingent states as FEDERAL LAW does not allow a repair shop to modify the manufacturer's warranty. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which applies in all 50 states including Illinois, a manufacturer cannot void or reduce their parts warranty simply because an independent shop (rather than a dealership) performed the installation. This is a federal consumer protection law and it is very clear on this point. Unfortunately for them they documented this revised warranty on the invoice emailed to me and even getting the invoice was a trial. The receptionist tried to have me 'come in to get it' but I refused as I had already been there to talk with the mechanic when my vehicle was dropped off. I insisted the it be emailed and it eventually was. Don't waste your time with these predators. No one has time for games and scams. I would never trust my vehicle repair to them and hope they are not preying on the surrounding community and college population in the area. Just disgusting.
