Cool little place to get your dance on. We usually come at night for a couple of hours to dance and have a drink. Last time I went there, they had a cover charge which they didn't have before. So, not sure if it's worth it since it's super small. Also, the bathrooms have never been clean so be extra careful. read more

I didn't eat any food here so can't comment on that. It was 9:30pm on a Tuesday the hotel across the street closed early. They all told me to go across the street it's because they closed early to hit the karaoke over here. If you're into rap these people have talent on the mic. It's town business I guess. Jimmy O's is a great local spot that is a big hit with the Del Mar Heights Dads Club. I have had a number of dishes here over the years and as far as bar food goes, the place is top notch. I generally order wings, they change flavors from time to time, but every time my food was perfect. I was a bit sad to see the Blackened Wings pulled from the menu, but I imagine that dish is tough to manage for the large influx of palettes that come in and out of Jimmy Os. Now for the more important stuff, part of what makes this place great is the awesome staff. Jenna is as good as it gets, you will not get similar service anywhere else... Always smiling, an incredible memory, and her kind demeanor just makes this place worth the trip. The food from my last visit was so good that my mouth is watering right now thinking about the wings. Umm - this place is epic haha! Came here after a holiday gathering nearby when it was the only place open after 11pm. We were definitely not alone and it was chaos upon entering. Super crowded with an eclectic mix of locals and visitors of all ages. The queue to order a drink was long and my drink was fine. As expected, it was quite loud yet a lively vibe. I'm not sure what kind of music is played on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights - or who comes for Tuesday karaoke - but Wednesday night salsa and bachata music and dancing at Jimmy O's is really fun. The small floor forces people to be much more conscious of others around them - and not do wild crazy moves some like to do when they have more space. I was wondering what kind of people would show up in Del Mar and was surprised and pleased that many of the women who came were pretty good followers - and that even the ones who said they didn't know how to dance were willing to do what they were able to make the song(s) enjoyable. I'm not sure how often (maybe monthly rather than weekly) but the plan is to offer Latin music/dancing again - and I recommend people come check it out. Parking could be a bit of a challenge - so come early, if you can, to watch the sunset over the ocean - and maybe have a drink and/or meal at Jimmy O's before the music starts (around 8:30-11:30pm). There is also a group dance class (at around 7:30pm) for those who either want to be shown some basics or just meet whoever shows up for it. Cover charge is $10. Jimmy's stays open long after the DJ stops - so for "night owls" who like staying up late and/or DON'T have to get up early the next day, they can stay and continue to enjoy spending time with whoever else might also be still be there. read more

Got charged $19 for a Pacifico and a white claw, looked online and the prices came out to $14. Bartender said it was happy hour pricing but all of the other online menus were correctly priced and happy hour was not listed anywhere on the menu so either the bartender lied or the restaurant never updated prices and decided to make a light beer $9.50 and a white claw $9.50 which is the most over priced drinks in general. Picture this, it's NYE 2019, I of course had failed to make any plans in advance because procrastination of a thousand generations courses through my veins... I am haplessly desperate, calling venues left and right to see who has the most reasonable cover for a bar/club... One bar says $65, another says $100?! What is 2019 coming to? Then the light bulb went off... Of course, reliable ole' Jimmy O's... Ever so present and open Jimmy O's! Quick as lightning I dial the bar, and a pleasant gentleman comes to the phone... I ask a simple question "What will the cover be for NYE this year?" with a chuckle the man states the most beautiful statement a desperate NYE partier wants to hear "We don't have a cover!" With a jubilant "WOW" I told the man I would see him later that night! Jesting aside, this place truly never has a cover, has a pretty decent DJ, he plays a variety but definitely plays the hip-hop you need to have fun. The drinks are pretty reasonable. There was a time we had an open tab and some jerk charged a BUNCH of drinks to our tab (much to my frustration)... Jimmy O's without hesitation or pushback corrected the bar tab and reimbursed the money! I also love to people watch and currently the crowd is an older crowd...
