Cool little place to get your dance on. We usually come at night for a couple of hours to dance and have a drink. Last time I went there, they had a cover charge which they didn't have before. So, not sure if it's worth it since it's super small. Also, the bathrooms have never been clean so be extra careful. read more

Jimmy O's is a great local spot that is a big hit with the Del Mar Heights Dads Club. I have had a number of dishes here over the years and as far as bar food goes, the place is top notch. I generally order wings, they change flavors from time to time, but every time my food was perfect. I was a bit sad to see the Blackened Wings pulled from the menu, but I imagine that dish is tough to manage for the large influx of palettes that come in and out of Jimmy Os. Now for the more important stuff, part of what makes this place great is the awesome staff. Jenna is as good as it gets, you will not get similar service anywhere else... Always smiling, an incredible memory, and her kind demeanor just makes this place worth the trip. The food from my last visit was so good that my mouth is watering right now thinking about the wings. What an awesome bar! Good food and GREAT customer service. Went here on a Friday night and it was popping! I like the music and the atmosphere. Umm - this place is epic haha! Came here after a holiday gathering nearby when it was the only place open after 11pm. We were definitely not alone and it was chaos upon entering. I'm not sure what kind of music is played on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights - or who comes for Tuesday karaoke - but Wednesday night salsa and bachata music and dancing at Jimmy O's is really fun. The small floor forces people to be much more conscious of others around them - and not do wild crazy moves some like to do when they have more space. I was wondering what kind of people would show up in Del Mar and was surprised and pleased that many of the women who came were pretty good followers - and that even the ones who said they didn't know how to dance were willing to do what they were able to make the song(s) enjoyable. I'm not sure how often (maybe monthly rather than weekly) but the plan is to offer Latin music/dancing again - and I recommend people come check it out. Parking could be a bit of a challenge - so come early, if you can, to watch the sunset over the ocean - and maybe have a drink and/or meal at Jimmy O's before the music starts (around 8:30-11:30pm). There is also a group dance class (at around 7:30pm) for those who either want to be shown some basics or just meet whoever shows up for it. Cover charge is $10. Jimmy's stays open long after the DJ stops - so for "night owls" who like staying up late and/or DON'T have to get up early the next day, they can stay and continue to enjoy spending time with whoever else might also be still be there. read more
