I placed my order online and went with a Hefty size Classic Cheesesteak, and a Husky size Philly Special Hoagie. Total after tax/tip was $34.00. How were they? Cheesesteak- Fantastic! Nice seeded bread, tons of meat and cooper sharp cheese. Onions were cut a little big and laid on top, so they started to fall all over the place (eat this outside your car, trust me!) while I was eating. Flavors were great, though! Damn fine cheesesteak and I would definitely return to get another. Hoagie- This thing was packed with goodies! They also use the "meat blanket" technique that I have only seen at LaSpadas down in Florida, previously. All the ingredients were well put together, HUGE, good bread, but there was a lack of tang in the olive oil/vinegar dressing. It was basically absent. That's why the 4 stars. Maybe you need to order extra or more vinegar? Something was definitely needed though. It was pretty plain tasting. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good sandwich, but it could have been a GREAT sandwich with some extra flavor of the oil/vinegar. This would definitely be my sandwich spot if I lived in York!

Well we will make sure to go to the competition down the street then next time we want subs. The guy seemed to be more interested in taking care of an order of a customer that was not currently there but was more focused on making the sub go that other order perfect while basically ignoring our subs. We both had to repeat ourselves several times with what we wanted as the guy kept asking , including for the Mike's Way as I asked for it to include light on the oregano and my husband asked for light on the oil and this seemed to baffle the guy. Well we get home and my #8 club sub had no tomatoes at all on the entire sub, we both got giant sized, and I am pretty sure he also missed putting the oil and stuff on my sub and we both only had one strip of bacon on both of our giant subs. My husband had a #9 roast beef sub and said it was just okay. But yet that other order that the guy was definitely more focused on I'm sure was perfect as this is where the guy's focus was instead of paying attention to the customers standing right in front of him. Again we will not be coming back and will be going to Jimmy John's down the street where we have gotten good subs and service. The only thing I will say is the place seemed clean and the temperature inside was comfortable. Sorry, your staff's fault

The subs are excellent but one question what happened to the old cookies? Why were they changed?read more

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

They also use the Philly bread that tastes so good because of the putrid water there , but seriously, the bread is good. The problem(s) arose when we opened our bag and wrapping...remember that good meat I spoke of? Well, there wasn't much of it on there. In fact, it was mostly Wiz (and that was even skimpy) and no onions or peppers. When I called to place the order, I was redirected to order online; very impersonal. Perhaps the reasoning is because people call in and never pick up their food, so it becomes a cost issue, which I do understand. The guy could have been friendlier on the phone, but perhaps he's an introvert ‍. When we looked at our food, we were so disappointed . And then, I looked up and saw the disgusting tub in the window lurking at me with all of its drippings down the side. That was a complete and total eyesore and will stop us from ever returning.

Was disappointed there is no real sitting area so I did have to eat in my car but the way the food was wrapped and in containers made it pretty easy to eat in the car. Got the seafood fries really not expecting much and was I wrong. Real crab and huge shrimp. Good portion too for $11. Got a wiz steak and the Amoroso bread was a added treat. Price wise not horrible and flavor wise big plus. Would suggest this place for a simple but delicious meal.
