Jimmy Johns just doesn't deliver, simple as that. I'm a resident of Schaumburg, Illinois, and live in the highly populated area near Meacham & Schaumburg roads, about a quarter mile from Higgins and less than a mile from Woodfield Mall but yet, despite several Jimmy Johns restaurant locations near my home, I can't seem to get them to deliver. They apparently do not want my business.
Now Schaumburg is a city with five Jimmy Johns locations, three of which are within five minutes (drive time) of my home. Jimmy Johns used to deliver to my place without any problem, but then recently they created this new online ordering system (similar to Domino's Pizza) and suddenly I can no longer get delivery at my home in the heart of Schaumburg.
Today I called all three of these locations attempting to order sandwiches for my family to no avail. I first tried calling the 66 East Golf Road location (according to Google Maps, this location is 2.9 miles from my home and this store has delivered to my home in the past). The person who answered told me that my home was outside that store's delivery zone, but that I should call the location at 1420 N. Meacham road. When i called the 1420 N. Meacham road location I was again told that my address is outside their store's delivery zone, this despite the fact that the store is, according to Google Maps, a mere 2.2 miles from my home and has delivered to my home in the past. The Meacham store advised me that I should call the Woodfield Mall store, who would surely deliver to me. I finally called the Woodfield store, which, according to Google Maps, is 1.9 miles from my home and is also a store that has delivered to my home in the past. I was again told that my home is outside the store's delivery area!
At this point I'm hungry, I'm annoyed at being given the run-around and I'm frustrated with this silliness. I asked the person who answered the phone to please let me speak to the manager. I was put on hold for almost five minutes (a long time when you're hungry and trying to order a meal from a fast-food delivery joint) only to have the same person return to the line to tell me, "Sorry, but your address is outside our delivery zone and we cannot deliver to your location." I asked again to speak the manager and was told that if I wanted to place an order or to speak with the manager that I would need to come into the store (wow).
So I asked for the manager's name (Chad, of course) and I went ahead and plead my case to the poor girl who happened to answer the phone. I pointed out that I live less than 3 miles from three Jimmy Johns locations and that there is no reason why one of the store's manager's couldn't make an exception and deliver to my home. But my pleas went unanswered. The poor girl had no clue what to say to my logical arguments and my pleas. You'd think a business (it's manager) would want to accommodate local customers and to build bridges with the local community, but I couldn't even get "Chad"--the manager of the Woodfield location---to hear my complaints or my common sense arguments.
I understand that the store has a set area in which to deliver, but for someone who lives in such a highly populated area, within a stone's throw of three locations to be unable to get food delivered seems ridiculous. And the fact that I couldn't get a manager on the phone or just one employee out of three stores to think outside the box to make a customer happy, seems like very poor customer service habits.
So next time you watch a commercial for Jimmy Johns telling you how convenient it is and how customer service oriented they are and how they'll deliver in a flash, keep my review in mind. They've lost my business. read more
