    Why does this jimmy johns close so early? Other one's close at 4am. Sometimes I just wake up needing a sandwich.

    Alright sandwiches, but I rarely go here unless I have an extra 12 bucks to spend on 3 bucks worth of lunch meat and chips.

    I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

The appetizer was a cheese and guacamole dip.. this was not the best queso but the guacamole was delicious! We ordered the blackened fish and 8oz sirloin! The steak had a good char and was well seasoned too! I order my steak rare and it was rare! Yes! The loaded mashed potatoes were very good too! The fish was well cooked and not dry. Will definitely recommend!

    #1 This is about the Steak…read more Ambience was great. Service was great. Pretty much everything was great, even the White cheddar stuffed mushrooms and Caesar's salad. What wasn't great was the Ribeye. And I think it's time restaurants STOP over tenderizing the steaks. A true steak lover wants to be able to cut through their steak. And because you can't realistically needle the hell out of the edges of a steak, you get that false impression when it is first set down in front of you that this is going to be a great steak... Then the issues begin. Medium is warm pick...the only thing warm pink was that first cut a the edge. The rest (that I could get through) ran the gambit of medium rare to damn near blue. Strange because I also ordered the parm-crust, which meant it would be subject a little more time in heat to melt the parm... And I think its because of that needle tenderizer restaurants use. You destroy the muscle fibers so much that the heat is no longer transferring within the steak properly. And what does over tenderizing do? It turns what could have been a great steak...into...MUSH. You can't cut through it because the fibers have begun spaghettification, so there's singular muscle strands that are straining to hold the meat together. My brother got the 20oz, and ended up just picking the steak up with his hands and trying to gnaw the meat off the bone when the knife no longer worked. The only person that got away with a truly good meal was my father who had ordered the Chicken fried steak. Kinda hard to over tenderize cubed steak since its traditionally the toughest cut. So I got about 60% through my ribeye and just called it quits. It became a wasted effort...you know the kind...where if you took it to the end you'd have to go to McD's for a burger because you burned so many calories just trying to eat the "meal". Maybe this is something that needs to be taken up management, have the servers if they want steak or mush. Strange thing I had seen a Youtube documentary on this very same thing, but never thought the steak at Longhorn would be worse than the steak at Roadhouse, which was mentioned as over tenderizing. All I can say, is if they continue with this practice, I can NOT recommend Longhorn, ANYWHERE for even a Waffle House quality steak. At one point I was fearing I had been bitten by the Texas tick that gives you Alpha-gal syndrome because I was actually getting a little nauseous trying to eat my steak at how mushy it was. It was only holding shape by the will of the sear and the parm-crust.

    "TACO TUESDAY at a BURGER JOINT" When you think of Taco…read moreTuesday, you think of having a Taco at a Mexican Restaurant, and that's a good thing because Tacos at any Mexican Restaurant are always a good sign. Well, people, one does not have to go to a Mexican Restaurant to enjoy a Taco on Taco Tuesday. There is another place that offers Tacos, but not your ordinary Taco. It's their "Steak Tacos" that are for a limited time only. It's "Freddy's Steakburgers" (& Frozen Custard). I have been to Freddy's and enjoyed their Double Steakburger with Cheese, but my Lovely Wife has not. Taco Tuesday is the perfect day for that. Here is how it went when we arrived. Freddy's came to mind when I saw a Foodie Friend, Mike Bendiksen's video of his review of Freddy's Steakburger Tacos. Nicely done, Mike. Pulled in just past 5 pm, and lots of cars/trucks are here. Walked in, and no one was at the counter ordering, just us. Checked out the Menu board overhead and didn't see the Tacos. Noticed a sign on the counter promoting them, and they look pretty good. Nancy is ordering first, and she is going with their "Senior Cheeseburger" Combo. Single SmashSteakburger with Cheese, Mustard, Onion & Pickle. Comes with French Fries, which are Skinny Fries (and I love them), and a Small Drink. I enquired about the size of their Tacos. Aleanna, who is taking our order, stated they are about the size of his hand. Their Tacos are a Smashburger Taco made with a Steakburger Patty, with American Cheese on a Grilled Tortilla with Lettuce & Jalapeno Fry Sauce. I asked for a Double-Smashburger Taco, two of them. Aleanna said he didn't think they came that way, but will check. His boss came over and said that they only come one way, as a Single Smashburger. I then asked for Two Steakburger Tacos, both with extra Pepper Jack Cheese and Cheddar Cheese. He seemed confused about the extra Cheese, and replied back, with extra Pepper Jack Cheese. I then stated No, with extra Pepper Jack Cheese 'and' Cheddar Cheese. (let me explain, before we left the house, I checked on-line at this location, and there is an extra charge for the combo of Pepper Jack Cheese and Cheddar Cheese, and there are many add-ons to these Tacos for an extra charge). He wanted to know if this replaces the American Cheese, and I said, No, it's added-on. I then ordered a medium drink. Orders are in and paid for. We filled our drinks, a Diet Coke for my Wife and a Diet Dr Pepper for me. Located a table away from the crying baby (don't you just love it when this happens). Soon they called out our number and my Wife picked up the tray. Both of my Steakburger Tacos are filled to the top with lots of Lettuce, and the Tortilla is nicely grilled. Took my first bite, and this is a pretty good Taco. The second bite was better because their Jalapeno Fry Sauce was there, and it has a nice Spice kick. The Smashburger itself is seasoned very well, but it is very thin - and I mean "thin". It would seem that 10 of these patties would equal a quarter pound. Lots of Jalapeno Fry Sauce is hidden inside the lettuce, making this Thin Smashburger Taco heavy, and adding a lot of flavor - nicely done. I also did not receive any Cheddar Cheese on either Taco, just the Pepper Jack. They apparently did not know how to do that. Overall, this Single Smashburger-Steakburger Taco is good, but with the patty being so thin, they should call this one a "Newspaper Smashburger Taco". My Wife enjoyed her Senior Cheeseburger, and also stated that the Patty is thin, and okay in taste. Their 'Skinny Fries' are delicious, with a nice crunch. She picked up one of their dipping sauces for the fries, and it's one of the best dipping sauces you will find. Nice flavor that goes very well with these fries. I also added some to one of my Tacos, and it is gooooooood. Some time back, as stated earlier in this review, I ate here before, and their Double Steakburger patties were thicker then than they are now. Don't know if this is true with all of Freddy's locations, but it is at this one. This location also needs to retrain their employees, including the Shift Supervisors, or whatever they are called, as to what they sell here and how they are made. Both of our order-taking guys had to go check to see if they do this for what I ordered. Maybe this is why when we drive by Freddy's, there are hardly any cars/trucks here. Anyway, when you are out-and-about sometime, check out a Freddy's and get yourself a couple of those Tacos while they last. And if they can, double-up on the Smashburger-Steakburger meat. Hopefully, they will know how to prepare yours.

    Friday, my Wife and I went out shopping and soon found it was past our dinner time. So, instead of…read moregoing home and cooking, or going to a restaurant, we went to a place I call "Notaburger". I know, I know, this does not happen to me - but - we have been to this one, and it was just opened a short time ago, and ordered their "Bun Less Burger", which is wrapped in lettuce. We wanted to give that a try, and this time we are ordering it again. It's also close to our house. Walked in, and there were not many people here. I asked the girl at the register if they do Bun Less Burgers. She said, "No, just remove the bun." I then informed her that we had ordered this before, and it is served in a plastic tray, all wrapped in lettuce. Shen then asked her manager, and he must have said yes, because she returned and asked what burger do you want?. My Wife went with the "Whataburger Jr"; No Bun, Small Beef Patty (4") wrapped in Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, diced Onions & Mustard. I am having the "Double Meat Whataburger"; wrapped in Lettuce, No Bun, Two Large Beef Patties, Tomato, Pickles, diced Onions & Mustard. We also asked for two regular drinks. She replied back, okay, and gave us our orange Crime Scene Number 29. Nancy noticed that she did not charge us for the Sodas. It would be nice if Whataburger trained its employees as to what they actually have here. She also handed us our cups, just like the Soda ones, but we just wanted water, so that's what we poured. We found a table and waited for our food, which arrived pretty quickly. When they deliver your food, they also have choices of condiments for you to choose. We both chose their Spicy Ketchup. These containers are clear plastic lids, and you can see the Lettuce inside - and that's all, just the Lettuce right in the center of the tray. Popped open the top and checked it out. The Large Lettuce Leaves are wilted, and not cold, but there is a patty underneath with a few diced onions and other toppings as listed, but not much. We both drizzled the Spicy Mustard all over the inside of the lettuce, picked up the Lettuce Wrapped Whataburger patty. Actually, it's not wrapped, it's just there. Bit into it and tasted the Spicy Ketchup, which is all you can taste. Their Whataburger Meat Patties still have no flavor. We ordered this same exact meal before, and it was totally different. Still no taste, but at least then, they made a better presentation of their Tasteless Bun-less Whataburger. We ordered Cheese on these last time, but this time without Cheese. At least the Cheese would have added some flavor. Friday, our number was 29, the opposite or reversed number. Before it was number 92. This fits very well with what we had, the exact opposite of our last time here. Below is how that went . . . . . - - - - - - - We were given one of their Orange Numbers (92), you know, those tent things they use at crime scenes. They are so cool. Anyway, we located a table after we filled our drinks and waited for our food. We also discovered that these drinks are a little light, like maybe diluted some, very weak. Soon our food arrived, and their "Lettuce Wrapped" is a lot different from what you would think. Each one is served in a Salad Container with a plastic lid, with a lot of loose lettuce and a lettuce leaf on top of the Burger patty. Lift it up, and there's my wife's patty, covered with cheese. I have both my patties covered with cheese, with lots of lettuce pieces all around, with several pickles, and lots of diced white onion. They also provide you with a plastic fork & knife. When they were served, we each grabbed a couple of Spicy Ketchup tubs. Check out the pictures and compare them. - - - - - - - Their Whataburger Patties both times were dry, with no flavor. As I said above, Whataburger needs to train its employees on how to put these meals together. They are not consistent at the cash register or in the kitchen. The only thing they are consistent at is not being consistent. It was better before, but only because of the Cheese and more toppings, but I just can't accept their dry, tasteless patties. There are other places in town that do the Lettuce Wrap better; hopefully, they will be consistent. At least last time you could taste the Tomatoes, Onions & Pickles, and the Cheese added even more taste. When we left, we went straight home and ate Dinner. They will still be known as "Notaburger", and I don't see them changing anytime soon. Hopefully, when you go to Whataburger, you will enjoy what you ordered. I do love their Scrambled Eggs and then topping them off with their Biscuits and Gravy, and topping. Thank You Baby for a fun day out shopping around, and giving "Notaburger" another try.
