Went through the drive-thru to order a taco salad with grilled chicken. Super fast service, perhaps because I was the only car there at that 7pm on Tuesday. I asked for some green salsa and they included it with 4 small containers on the side. I don't think they give you salsa unless you ask for it. Overall, it was very good. The lettuce tasted like it was a bit old, perhaps from those prepackaged shredded iceberg lettuce. All the other ingredients tasted fresh including the taco shell. The grilled chicken pieces were moist and not dried out as other places I've been to. I would recommend the taco salad with your choice of proteins as it was very satisfying. Just make sure you ask for salsa (red or green) on the side as there is none on the taco salad itself. read more

Staff is unknowledgeable and useless. I asked if the grilled chicken tacos were gluten free, nobody knew. So I said I'll just try one, I get up to the window where the girl tells me to scan the code to check for allergens, I checked it right away and low and behold their grilled chicken has gluten, I asked if they could swap the meat, offered to pay any difference, and they said, no sorry they already made it, and handed me something I can't eat. Let me just add that today was the first day of homeschool, after school went to work until 5, hadn't eaten a single thing all day and I'm starving, and now for the rest of my ride home I get to smell this delicious food that would make me physically ill if I ate it. I cried the whole way home, partly because I was hangry, partly because I couldn't believe how little they cared!!! The cashier welcomed us with a big, bright smile on his cheerful face. What a cutiepie (in a motherly way) lol. Great first impression. I had a cod fish taco and one beef. My husband had 3 carnitas tacos. Loved the fresh toppings on the fish taco. They were tasty, filling, and not too crazy expensive like some places are getting. Most of the tables were sprinkled with parmesan cheese crumbs left behind. It's an older building with huge uneven plastered spots on their walls. But it didn't ruin our experience. The service was pretty fast and very helpful. The tables were clean but not the cleanest dining area but it was okay and that is why I am giving four stars. They do have a drive-thru. I spent $40.00 for 12 tacos today September 12,2025. I live in South Lake Tahoe. I was on my way home. I bought them because my husband loves them and we get them there all the time. However when my husband took a bite he spit it out, I took a bite and spit it out. They tasted like the shells or the meat had mold in them. If I had lived in Placerville I would have taken them back. $40.00 wasted. I hope they read this and fix the problem. There were several people going through the drive thru. Absolute worst service I've ever had at a drive through. I'm leaving the date and time so that the manager or owner can know exactly who sucks, if they actually care. Are here at Saturday October 27th at 3:00 pm. There was one car in the drive through when we arrived. We literally sat there for 15 minutes before a blonde girl in her 20's came to the window. After a ridiculously long time, we finally got our food. The tacos were sloppily thrown together, a complete mess. The "veggie masala" tacos were pinto beans and rice. Just call them bean and rice tacos instead of falsely implying threat are anything more. The girl at the window was incredibly slow. Not handicapped, she just clearly doesn't give a shit at all. After driving away with my order I realized she forgot my drink. Had to go back for it, a real joy after waiting 20 minutes for terrible drive through food. It's really a shame how bad this experience was because this place used to be decent. Don't waste your time with these lazy losers. I still do not understand why Jimboy's is not more popular. These guys are still putting out a great product far superior to most chain Mexican-style places at a competitive price. The location on the east side of Placerville has always been a favorite due to its proximity to Apple Hill, and the upgrades over the years have kept it a very nice option in the area. Jimboy's is like a gourmet Taco Bell. It is not a taqueria and is a bit gringo-ized, but it is still a solid option. Their grilled tacos straddle the thin line between soft and crunchy while still keeping that tasty parmesan cheese from falling to its death. I always love the chicken and actually prefer the better seasoned ground beef to the shredded. Beans and rice rival those found in nice Mexican places. The Placerville Jimboy's is an excellent option for those heading to Apple Hill or Lake Tahoe. It is an easy-on easy-off option from US 50 and has a great menu for everyone. read more

I love Jimboys taco burger, unfortunately the Placerville location has only gotten my order right once in my last 5 orders. I order NO Mustard. Half the time they say it doesnt come with mustard, then cover it in mustard. The rest of the time they repeat no mustard then put it on anyway. Going to have to stick with the Folsom location.
