Went through the drive-thru to order a taco salad with grilled chicken. Super fast service, perhaps because I was the only car there at that 7pm on Tuesday. I asked for some green salsa and they included it with 4 small containers on the side. I don't think they give you salsa unless you ask for it. Overall, it was very good. The lettuce tasted like it was a bit old, perhaps from those prepackaged shredded iceberg lettuce. All the other ingredients tasted fresh including the taco shell. The grilled chicken pieces were moist and not dried out as other places I've been to. I would recommend the taco salad with your choice of proteins as it was very satisfying. Just make sure you ask for salsa (red or green) on the side as there is none on the taco salad itself. read more

Jimboy's Tacos - Taco salad with grilled chicken - Mexican Near Me - Placerville, California

Staff is unknowledgeable and useless. I asked if the grilled chicken tacos were gluten free, nobody knew. So I said I'll just try one, I get up to the window where the girl tells me to scan the code to check for allergens, I checked it right away and low and behold their grilled chicken has gluten, I asked if they could swap the meat, offered to pay any difference, and they said, no sorry they already made it, and handed me something I can't eat. Let me just add that today was the first day of homeschool, after school went to work until 5, hadn't eaten a single thing all day and I'm starving, and now for the rest of my ride home I get to smell this delicious food that would make me physically ill if I ate it. I cried the whole way home, partly because I was hangry, partly because I couldn't believe how little they cared!!! It's not like the money comes out of their pocket, and a manager would've said yes, so this is just some lazy little stupid nobody! I'll never go back because of it read more

The cashier welcomed us with a big, bright smile on his cheerful face. What a cutiepie (in a motherly way) lol. Great first impression. I had a cod fish taco and one beef. My husband had 3 carnitas tacos. Loved the fresh toppings on the fish taco. They were tasty, filling, and not too crazy expensive like some places are getting. Most of the tables were sprinkled with parmesan cheese crumbs left behind. It's an older building with huge uneven plastered spots on their walls. But it didn't ruin our experience. It was quick and satisfying, and we weren't expecting fine dining, of course. read more

Dirty tables, bad attitude working the front register. And then no hot sauce. Terrible place read more

Big disappointment! This place is very dirty but I looked past that to hopefully get some good tacos and burritos! I don't eat meat so I'm a bean and cheese burrito connoisseur! Nowhere is it advertised that their burritos are fried! Wow 4.75 for a skinny, fried burrito that I won't eat! We just wasted time and money and now I'm off to purchase food I can eat !! read more

Well we did drive thru. A little slow. The person making out food was not wearing gloves I noticed they the drive up window. Hmmm.

The so called owner response is very generic and is exactly the same in all negative reviews. Instead of offering the email to write what has already been expressed in the review . Take ownership in your product and do better !!!! read more

I ordered a number two and so did my friend and it was so delicious. The taco shell is not the usual because it is authentic taco shells. It came with a drink and a burrito. The service was pretty fast and very helpful. The tables were clean but not the cleanest dining area but it was okay and that is why I am giving four stars. They do have a drive-thru. And I will go back someday. read more

Again, our annual taco stop this time coming back from Tahoe. Very good tacos. The young woman who took our order was very nice and made us feel welcome. Very clean restaurant and bathrooms. For those of you who complain about being too expensive maybe you should go elsewhere. Any place you go to now is higher. Even the grocery stores. Sad but true. read more

Jimboy's Tacos - 12 tacos, six sans lettuce. Yummy! - Mexican Near Me - Placerville, California

I spent $40.00 for 12 tacos today September 12,2025. I live in South Lake Tahoe. I was on my way home. I bought them because my husband loves them and we get them there all the time. However when my husband took a bite he spit it out, I took a bite and spit it out. They tasted like the shells or the meat had mold in them. If I had lived in Placerville I would have taken them back. $40.00 wasted. I hope they read this and fix the problem. There were several people going through the drive thru. If anyone of you reads this please post a review to see if it happened to you. Usually the food is very good but not today I hope I don't get sick. read more

The Jimboys in Cameron Park is better so if your driving up from the west go there instead. Lol I do like this place though, they often are not open when they say they should be hence the 4 star's. The tacos are good they put Parmigan cheese on the outside of the shell. read more

Awesome Tacos - original beef are the best. This is our first try at this location on our way home from South Lake Tahoe. The staff is very friendly. It's fast food, greasy, and fried. It didn't make us sick. We definitely have much better alternatives in Placerville, much healthier too.

Absolutely horrible tacos tasted kind of like soap. Something was off. My burrito was so runny had to eat it with a spoon. And the girl behind the counter has an attitude. read more

Don't waste your money or time going to this place. This location had no character, the food was barely tolerable and it was way expensive! My husband went to get his hair cut at a local barber and while there asked if any of the other guys had eaten at Jimboy's Taco and everyone expressed displeasure with the fast food restaurant. Needless to say, it was our first and last time there. read more

I'm not sure what it is...maybe it's because I don't have one nearby but I HAVE to stop when I see a Jimboy's and get one of their cheesy, greasy original ground beef tacos. I love them and I don't care what anyone thinks! LOL This location was right off the Apple Hill trail and before the freeway which was perfect because I needed a snack after all those sweets and before we got on the road to head home! read more

It was a perfect stop after tasting so many great wines at Lava Cap Winery and Madroña Vineyards in Apple Hill. I thought the tacos would be cheaper but maybe I just haven't been exposed to how much tacos cost now. They were tasty and the stop was a needed break before heading back home. read more

The Jimboy's Tacos on Broadway in Placerville is just horrible you can get a taco they don't have any chicken they don't have any onions they don't have any cilantro you just get this lousy little packet of hot sauce I don't think it's real meat and now you get is just a little tiny meat and the rest is lettuce I got very upset and told him that they suck they need to shut down or the corporate office needs to be contacted what a big rip off I took a couple bites do it in the garbage and told them they suck read more

Love them taco from the early times Denio's and still do. Wish they were more consistent store to store.

I love Jimboy's Tacos, but this location sucks (fly's inside, slow staff -- and unkempt space). It would really take VERY LITTLE to make this place awesome, so I'll hope it improves moving ahead (as other locations nearby are doing a much better job managing their space). Still love Jimboy's (because when they're on it, they're fantastic)! read more

This was the worse burrito I have ever eaten. I ordered classic carnitas burrito The meat was dry, tortilla dried out and the tortilla was only half full I am so disappointed as I have eaten at this establishment in the past and loved the burrito Rather eat at Taco Bell read more

So...I honestly try and give grace to restaurants trying to get through this Covid pandemic, but.. this restaurant was thriving so there's loss of revenue. I was looking forward to enjoying the Carnitas Nachos but what I got was mush. It looks like what they tried to do is make the nacho cheese sauce from flour. A basic bechamel sauce with cheese added. They failed at their attempt. It tasted bland, all I could taste was the flour. Nachos are all about the cheese sauce. If you can't order the real stuff don't sell it. read more

This place is pretty hit and miss. I gotta say this time it was a hit. Fresh hot food this time. Actually my third time here. The other two times was in the Drive-thru. This time we ate in the lobby. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. The first two times were not super good. Good enough but a little cold and sloppy. Seams like they only put a little parmashan cheese on one side. Used to be a bunch of cheese all over it. And that delicious grease! What happened to that delicious grease?? Im gonna always love the tacos and beans. No madder how bad they screw em up. Lol. So I'll be back. See you there. read more

Over the past few years the quality has gone way down, the prices way up, and the service is just awful. Also, plan on waiting 20-30 minutes in the drive thru for a small order, even when you are the only car. Unfortunately, today will be the last time I visit. read more

I still do not understand why Jimboy's is not more popular. These guys are still putting out a great product far superior to most chain Mexican-style places at a competitive price. The location on the east side of Placerville has always been a favorite due to its proximity to Apple Hill, and the upgrades over the years have kept it a very nice option in the area. Jimboy's is like a gourmet Taco Bell. It is not a taqueria and is a bit gringo-ized, but it is still a solid option. Their grilled tacos straddle the thin line between soft and crunchy while still keeping that tasty parmesan cheese from falling to its death. I always love the chicken and actually prefer the better seasoned ground beef to the shredded. Beans and rice rival those found in nice Mexican places. The Placerville Jimboy's is an excellent option for those heading to Apple Hill or Lake Tahoe. It is an easy-on easy-off option from US 50 and has a great menu for everyone. read more

Jimboys is Iconic! It's been around since the 70's and they haven't changed their tacos. I wish there was one in LA! It's a mom pop shop that hits the top in my book! Therefore, 5 stars! Absolute worst service I've ever had at a drive through. I'm leaving the date and time so that the manager or owner can know exactly who sucks, if they actually care. Are here at Saturday October 27th at 3:00 pm. There was one car in the drive through when we arrived. We literally sat there for 15 minutes before a blonde girl in her 20's came to the window. After a ridiculously long time, we finally got our food. The tacos were sloppily thrown together, a complete mess. The "veggie masala" tacos were pinto beans and rice. Just call them bean and rice tacos instead of falsely implying threat are anything more. The girl at the window was incredibly slow. Not handicapped, she just clearly doesn't give a shit at all. After driving away with my order I realized she forgot my drink. Had to go back for it, a real joy after waiting 20 minutes for terrible drive through food. It's really a shame how bad this experience was because this place used to be decent. Don't waste your time with these lazy losers. The Taco Bell up the street will give you a better meal at half the price and with service that's much more professional. Skip this Jimboy's, trust me read more
