Food is Great, Grab the Combo Taco & Enchilada & Pepsi, Clean Dining Area, Nice Service, Overall Good Food!

Burgerita and taco
Kim S.

We tried the Burgerita, liked the sauce and the pickles. Tortilla was nicely grilled. I always love the tacos. 4 stars because they are a bit greasy. Get lots of napkins. The Auburn location could use a bit of updating to their interior. We sat outside and it was nice.

Not the first Jimboy's Tacos I've been to, but one of the better ones for quantity and quality of food. Pretty fast service, we had steak and carnitas tacos... lots of meat and fillings, the cheesy outsides of the shells are unique to them, a tasty treat! Restroom and dining area could use a little sprucing up.

Gordo beef taco

Jimboys was the second stop on our Auburn taco crawl. This is a storied Northern California fast food stop that's clean, well lit, and fast. I order the Gordo beef taco and within 2 minutes I had it. Hot and easy to eat. Their specialty is the Parmesan dusted grilled flour soft taco. The meat was fine lettuce was fresh and abundant. It's a little expensive as comparable tacos go but quick and good.

Tacos and fries

I haven't had Jimboys in over 10 years, probably. But it's a greater Sac area staple and since we were passing by, I decided to introduce my hubby to it. We had to get their ground beef hard shell tacos, which is what they're known for, They do a 6 pack of these tacos, so we just got that. Also tried the hot honey chicken taco and the alaskian cod taco, along with a side of fries. All this for about $30 - fast food is no longer that inexpensive. Haha. Both the chicken and fish were breaded I believe. Both had a pico salsa with diced tomatoes and onions, so that made it fresh. The hot honey was not super spicy, but I think I preferred the cod one over all the other tacos. The ground beef ones were standard. Hard shells were not as crunchy as I remember. They were just slightly fried. A little greasy and a little too salty for me but mostly solid. I really liked their fries, which were like jojos or potato wedges - very fried and very potato-y. We ordered inside to-go and ate at one of the three picnic tables outside. The drive thru was super busy also with lots of customers. Bathroom was clean and decent.

The tacos are insanely good, although probably not so great for you. Think Jack in the box tacos, but waaaay better!

Ask the Community - Jimboy's Tacos

Can you please start letting me do indoor dining at the auburn ca location off of bowman rd the county is in the red tier?

Hello! This restaurant is independently owned and this account is managed by the corporate office. You'll have to call the restaurant to ask specifically when they plan to re-open their dining room. Thank you.

Is the Bowman location still in business? The sign is lit but it's always closed when we pull into the lot.

Hello! Yes this location is still in business and open 9 AM - 6 PM daily. Thank you,

Please do outdoor seating at tables here?

No unfortunately we do not have outdoor seating at this location.

The Jimboy's in Auburn is being remodeled or was it shut down. The one off of highway 49?

We are remodeling the Grass Valley HWY store in Auburn and should re-open sometime this summer. Thanks!

I am usually here for tacos, but I ordered the tortilla soup, while my friend ordered the Shrimp Mazatlán, those shrimp enchiladas are the best I have ever had! The restaurant is always busy, and this Saturday night was no exception. The only booth available was in the bar area, which was perfectly fine with us. Our server worked at a good pace and never made us feel rushed. They were also already getting everything set up for Sunday morning brunch. Until recently, it had been over a year since I had eaten here. I still love the colorful decor, and the service is just as awesome as I remember, although there are a lot of new faces now. Our food came out very quickly, but unfortunately, the tortilla soup was honestly horrible, lol. This was the first time I've ordered something here that I genuinely didn't like. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and clearly grilled, but the rest of the soup just didn't taste good to me. I wonder if it was because they added pico de gallo? Besides the chicken and pico, it contained tortilla strips and some type of cheese throughout. I let our server know, and he seemed to agree that adding pico might be the reason the tortilla soup isn't a customer favorite. I appreciated that he listened and was honest about it. I already know the Shrimp Mazatlán is delicious because it's one of my favorites. However, now that I'm finally coming back after being away for more than a year, I've made it my goal to branch out and try more items on the menu. The tortilla soup may have been a miss for me, but one disappointing dish definitely isn't enough to keep me from returning. El Tapatio has taken Auburn by storm and is easily one of the #1 restaurants up here.... from trying their tacos and their enchiladas... their margaritas and great service from the host stand all the way up to Ivan, who I see managing every time I go... I absolutely urge you to come here and meet me here tomorrow for brunch to see what is so about!

My man friend had stressed how good it was but I was still very pleasantly surprised and GRATEFUL to have experienced such a delicious meal and experience myself because it was incredibly mouth wateringly delicious! It's a family owned business, the service was just as amazing as the food was. Very welcoming just truly an amazing restaurant that you must try especially if you like Mexican food! I ordered a chicken taquito ranchero plate I can't recall the exact name and my partner ordered the seafood fajitas... the portions were ginormous... incredibly satiating! I ate as much as my belly could squeeze in before I had to tap which is not a problem because I'm experiencing the yum again today with my leftovers that taste just as flavorful as yesterday!!! The seasonings and spice were just perfect. The prices were great as well... for both of our meals with sodas the total with tax was under $60 and worth every penny!!!! I will definitely be a returning fan

The Baja Fish Taco came with breaded fish, shredded cabbage, and chipotle sauce in two corn tortillas. Fish was fresh and not fishy; had a nice crispy coating. Good ratio between the fish and tortilla. Chipotle sauce was mildly spicy; just enough kick. Sauce tasted like sun dried tomato with a little hint of tobacco sauce. The Mulita was good. It's basically a soft taco but the two corn tortillas were not folded in half. It's like a tortilla sandwich. The carne asada was very tasty; char grilled flavor. The seasonings blended really well with each other and almost tasted like meat braised in peppers, onions, and paprika. One downside, very oily. The Taco with Al Pastor meat had the citrusy sweet flavor of pineapple and spices. It had an orange sauce which was slightly spicy and tomatoey. Was also yummy. They have a huge menu with 15 meat choices to choose from. And despite offering a variety of dishes, they maintain both quality and yummy factor. Menu includes salad, breakfast and tortas. Fountain drinks, bottle drinks and horchatas for drinks. Free chips and salsa bar with at least 5 salsas to choose from: creamy jalapeno, habanero, 2 reds and a tomatillo. Big dining area. Nice friendly staff. Even though it's a sit yourself type of resto, the staff are going around to check on the diners if they need anything or to take empty plates away. Good deal for the price, portion, quality and yummy factor.
