Jumbo burrito with grilled chicken was fantastic, definitely best burrito I have had in a long time. I like that there were different bean options. Hubby had the shrimp burrito and there were whole shrimp in there. He loved it, super tasty. They also have a nice selection of salsa at their salsa bar. Definitely worth a stop. This place is pretty good and convenient because it is close to the Tesla charging station so you can eat while you charge. The carne asada fries were very good but I would like the fries cooked more because they get so soggy on the bottom and they get soggy fast. They have complimentary chips and a salsa bar which is nice. The horchata is really good. I've also tried the birria tacos and I really like those. Service is pretty fast and the inside is decent with plenty of seating. It's worth it to stop by, I feel it's not too expensive and the portions are huge. read more

Nasty! I just discovered egg shells in my burrito. I did not order a breakfast burrito or anything with egg in it so this tells me that the surface they were preparing the burritos on must be extremely dirty because of the egg shells making their way into the burrito somehow. The burrito is wrapped in tinfoil, but the outside of it was covered in sauce again, telling me that their station must be really dirty. I'm so grossed out. read more

Solid tacos. It's not a mom and pop, there's little ambiance or margaritas, but it's tasty, cheap and quick. There's even a drive thru, don't let that fool you though it's a million times better than Taco Bell. We tried a couple crispy tacos, all were great but it's not deep fried crispy so I may try the hard shell next time. There's service was very good. Nice little stop after errands. read more

Tesla Charge & Snack - Every time we travel, we try to pick chargers near the freeway that also have food nearby. On this adventure, we stumbled upon El Burrito Taqueria while stopping to charge. I ordered a simple bean, cheese, and rice burrito for... breakfast along with some chips and salsa as an appetizer. The burrito tasted homemade, from the tortilla to the beans, and it had plenty of cheese! My husband got a chorizo burrito (forgot the photo). He said it wasn't anything he'd need to have again, not bad just not amazing. I would definitely stop here again the next time we charge. Based on the reviews we saw, my husband and I decided to try El Burrito's breakfast burritos. First off, the lady working the front was extremely pleasant. And their burritos did not disappoint! My husband had the chorizo, and I had the carnitas (no rice or beans, not for me for a breakfast burrito). The burritos were huge and sooo tasty. Loved the addition of sour cream and tomatillo - made it moist and even more flavorful. I also liked it that the potatoes were on the smaller side so they did not overcome everything else. I am a huge snob when it comes to carnitas, having been raised on carnitas from Carnitas Michoacan in Gilroy. Carnitas should not be bland, roasted pork. It should be cooked in lard and have a salty, rich flavor, some carmelization, and crispy bits. That is exactly what I got from El Burrito. Heavenly. We will defiitely be back. Came here for dinner during our trip to Tahoe and I was not disappointed.. They have birria (which is my favorite dish!) but as always, my eyes were bigger than my tummy so I ended up ordering 2-taco plates. One taco is birria and the other taco is lengua. Their rice and beans are nice, I wish it could be a bit spicy (beans) but it's still flavorful and cheesy! the tacos were a bit soggy but I still enjoyed it. I wished I ordered quesabirria instead but I suppose I will wait until next time. The horchata was very sweet but refreshing, and you could refill it with only $1! I ended up refilling it with some pina but it ended up being too sweet as well.. Their chips station was filled with many varieties of salsa and I could never be happier... A great place to go is El burrito Taqueria in Auburn. We usually make a pitstop for gas and we're pleasantly surprised with the quality of the vegetarian burrito. It was large and a good value and not filled up with rice like sometimes happen. We also enjoyed the chicken enchilada plate. This place turned out to be a great spot for lunch while we were charging our car nearby. They offer an extensive menu, and the portions are generous. We ordered a super burrito and two quesadillas, and everything tastes good and was fresh. The prices here are quite reasonable compared to taquerias in the Bay Area these days. While we were there, we noticed there were family gatherings and local lunch meetups, which gave the place a welcoming feel. I was on my way to Awful Annie's this morning for the usual breakfast, and I just had a hankering for a breakfast burrito and something simpler. So I pulled in to El Burrito Taqueria and gave it a quick look up here on yelp. Saw great and reasonably priced breakfast burritos on the menu and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. It's a truly authentic Mexican restaurant with an awesome salsa bar, fresh chips, and great service. I ordered the breakfast burrito number three with Carnitas and it was huge and as wonderful as it was large. I couldn't even eat it all, so took half of it home and I'm gonna enjoy it tomorrow. Last night, the food and service was excellent. The salsa bar was clean and well stocked. Prices were in line with other restaurants of this type. I took off a star for two reasons. First, the faucet in the men's restroom was broken and only dispensed scalding water. Too hot to wash your hands. I reported it to the counter person but it didn't appear to generate much concern. Secondly, the rubber mats by the entry door were worn and presented a trip and fall hazard. They may want to do some risk assessment here. read more

The Good: *Convenient website for ordering pick-up *Drive-thru! *Friendly service *Free chips and a salsa bar for dining in patrons *Inside is really clean and inviting *Relatively inexpensive and no upcharge on the offal *Beers on draught as well as a large selection of *Ordered three tacos (Taco Tuesday) w/ various meats and their tripas (tripe) were sensational. Crispy large chunks with a nice chew and that flavor I love. The Meh: *Ordered some nachos to share, and they were kind of a cold, gloppy mess by the time we went to eat it. The takeout portion might've affected that, but it didn't help that they put way too much stuff on the nachos. *The website isn't entirely accurate for certain things like drink selection, and it can be a little confusing on some of the options. The Ugly: *My other two tacos were pretty gross, if I'm being honest. The Carne Asada (grilled beef) was more steamed than grilled, and Chile Colorado was dry as the Sahara. Conclusion: Not the best Mexican food we've had, but certainly not the worst. Some of the issues could be due to the takeout factor, but who knows. Came here for lunch and needed to charge my car. Stopped in and was a bit leery. I thought it might be one of those places that may make me regret eating there. Let me say that I was pleasantly surprised. Don't judge a book by its cover. I walk in the place is very clean and so many options on the menu. I ordered the 2 taco combination with pastor. My son ordered 3 pastor tacos. There is a salsa bar and fresh chips. We grab some and their salsa options satisfied those who weren't into the spicy and those who liked the spicy. We enjoyed our tacos. The tortillas tasted like they were freshly made. The pastor meat was very flavorful. I really enjoyed my meal. Amazing!! We stopped at El Burrito Taqueria on our way to Tahoe. Personnel is friendly and restaurant was very clean. We ordered a fish taco, a shrimp taco and three quesobirria tacos. My husband's fish and shrimp tacos were so good, he ate them before I could take a picture. The quesobirria were so big and filled to the brim. Meat was so tender and the broth, I could have had it by itself. Don't forget to try the salsa bar. What really made the visit standout, was the cashier who came around to all the tables to make sure everything was to the customer's satisfaction. We've passed this place many, many times. There is a Tesla charging station immediately behind it but we hadn't gone in to eat until yesterday on our drive home from Tahoe. Wow...we had been missing. This is the best kept secret in Auburn! The food is absolutely amazing, fresh, and VERY affordable. We had the Jumbo Burritos ($12.99) which are MASSIVE and enough for us to eat 1/2 yesterday, and still plenty enough for lunch today. The restaurant is EXTREMELY clean, including the restrooms!!! The staff immediately clears every table in the restaurant as soon as the guests leave, the floors are spotless, and it is very bright inside They also have a drive thru. And about the staff....they are so incredibly pleasant, polite, helpful, friendly, and welcoming. They have a chip and salsa bar that is basically free to serve yourself from at no charge. This restaurant is such a breath of fresh air and is obviously managed extremely well. This will 100% be our new stop every time we go through Auburn. Meh - nice salsa bar, very tasty chips, Jamaica was pretty good and my husband who is a burrito aficionado really liked his jumbo burrito with Carne Asada. Unfortunately, my son got two Carne Asada tacos and the meat was extremely overcooked and lacked flavor. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I got a fish taco which was breaded, and the bread was soggy. It wasn't cooked properly (seems like it had been sitting for a long time and then just slapped on the burrito without putting in the fryer to crisp up the outside). I also got a shrimp taco and the shrimp was...cringe, served rare. They are not paying attention. They are not executing properly and they are not putting care into the ingredients.
