    Carnitas torta

I stopped for lunch here while charging at the convenient Tesla supercharger next door. I got a carnitas torta, which was ok -- the pork was tender, but way too salty for me. Tortilla chips were good and complimentary, with a complete salsa bar. The decor is pretty basic, essentially a fast food restaurant. Service was fast and friendly.

Tesla Charge & Snack - Every time we travel, we try to pick chargers near the freeway that also have food nearby. On this adventure, we stumbled upon El Burrito Taqueria while stopping to charge. I ordered a simple bean, cheese, and rice burrito for... breakfast along with some chips and salsa as an appetizer. The burrito tasted homemade, from the tortilla to the beans, and it had plenty of cheese! My husband got a chorizo burrito (forgot the photo). He said it wasn't anything he'd need to have again, not bad just not amazing. I would definitely stop here again the next time we charge. Bonus: they also have a drive-thru if you're in a hurry to grab something quick.

Came here for dinner during our trip to Tahoe and I was not disappointed.. They have birria (which is my favorite dish!) but as always, my eyes were bigger than my tummy so I ended up ordering 2-taco plates. One taco is birria and the other taco is lengua. Their rice and beans are nice, I wish it could be a bit spicy (beans) but it's still flavorful and cheesy! the tacos were a bit soggy but I still enjoyed it. I wished I ordered quesabirria instead but I suppose I will wait until next time. The horchata was very sweet but refreshing, and you could refill it with only $1! I ended up refilling it with some pina but it ended up being too sweet as well.. Their chips station was filled with many varieties of salsa and I could never be happier... The salsa station was clean and refreshing. Their salsa itself was very nice and I enjoyed the flavor so much! I will definitely come back someday.

The Tesla chargers are located behind the restaurant. Their service was fast and the food tasted great. The establishment was super clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone.

A nice little local taqueria featuring classic Mexican taqueria selections, including tacos, burritos, combo plates, salsa bar and seafood options. You walk in and order at the counter, where food will then be brought to your table. Plenty of booth seating, and good service. Excellent birria tacos and micheladas.

This place turned out to be a great spot for lunch while we were charging our car nearby. They offer an extensive menu, and the portions are generous. We ordered a super burrito and two quesadillas, and everything tastes good and was fresh. The prices here are quite reasonable compared to taquerias in the Bay Area these days. While we were there, we noticed there were family gatherings and local lunch meetups, which gave the place a welcoming feel. We were especially impressed by the attentive service and how clean and well-maintained the restaurant is. We'll definitely come again if we're in the area next time.

I was on my way to Awful Annie's this morning for the usual breakfast, and I just had a hankering for a breakfast burrito and something simpler. So I pulled in to El Burrito Taqueria and gave it a quick look up here on yelp. Saw great and reasonably priced breakfast burritos on the menu and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. It's a truly authentic Mexican restaurant with an awesome salsa bar, fresh chips, and great service. I ordered the breakfast burrito number three with Carnitas and it was huge and as wonderful as it was large. I couldn't even eat it all, so took half of it home and I'm gonna enjoy it tomorrow. Definitely worth the stop on the way up to Tahoe or Reno. saw someone else ordering an early lunch with the street tacos, and I'm definitely coming back for lunch at some point on my next trip through the area.

    Two crispy tacos.

Last night, the food and service was excellent. The salsa bar was clean and well stocked. Prices were in line with other restaurants of this type. I took off a star for two reasons. First, the faucet in the men's restroom was broken and only dispensed scalding water. Too hot to wash your hands. I reported it to the counter person but it didn't appear to generate much concern. Secondly, the rubber mats by the entry door were worn and presented a trip and fall hazard. They may want to do some risk assessment here.

It's very good and not expensive. Would go there again. Ambience is basic but clean. Friendly staff.

I read the reviews for El Portal and they were not stellar, it seems mainly because people felt the staff were not friendly. As we walked in the restaurant, there was a sign apologizing because they were short staffed and doing everything they could to provide great service. We sat down and were properly provided with a basket of chips and a bowl of salsa. We immediately noticed that the salsa and chips were pretty exceptional. My husband observed someone in the kitchen using a commercial immersion blender to make a batch of fresh salsa. After talking to our waitperson we learned the chips are made fresh each morning. She also said there are new owners as if last January. Both my husband and I ordered a Quesadilla. His was Al Pastor and mine was Carnitas. Not only were both very delicious, they had the most elaborate presentation of a quesadilla we have seen. Additionally the quesadillas are huge - we both took half of it home. That is an extra bonus because neither of us feels like cooking, or going out, after traveling all day. My husband said the Al Pastor was the best he has ever had, and I concur. As travelers we were happy to see that the restrooms were clean and well stocked. We highly recommend El Portal and look forward to returning. ¡Buen provecho!
