I think the fact that the restaurant was very busy even on Friday 2nd Jan, just after the Christmas rush when everyone has spent their money, says a lot about the standard of the food and service here. We took our time over the food and even though we were the last couple in the restaurant at midnight, we did not feel rushed out of the place, and were even offered a drink on the house. Very impressed both with the food and the service, highly recommended!

In a world with a million and one Chinese take away restaurants, finding one that actually makes their food taste nice is amazing. Their noodles are the thin firm kind, not the stodgy kind that looks more like spaghetti than noodle. Their duck in plum sauce is to die for (if you like Crispy Duck pancakes you'll love these) and their starters are amazing too. If a restaurants quality can be gauged on how busy they are, these guys are packed almost every day. If you want to go for a meal, yes they are a sit down restaurant first, takeaway second, you'd better book ahead. Weekends are exceptionally busy. The food is first rate and you also aren't going to have a heart attack wen the bill comes. Although they are slightly more expensive than a cheap takeaway place, we're only talking 50p to £1 a dish more. Well worth it in my mind. Pop in and pick up a menu next time you're walking back from the station and give them a try.

It holds seating for around 25 people, is wheelchair accessible, and does easilly the best Chinese food I've had in ages. For me, the highlights of the menu are: Chicken Peking style - which is a chopped battered chicken breast fillet in the lightest, crispiest batter you can imagine, drizzled with a fresh garlic, spring onion and soy dressing... Sounds a bit doughy? Not at all.. it somehow keeps fresh and crispy througout the meal. The Chinese dumplings are fabulous (always a benchmark for me - as they're so easy to get wrong) - but the smart money for me goes to have the Wonton soup instead, as the starter has 4 dumplings, whereas the soup has 3 of the same.. and the soup, and is cheaper. Instead, either the chicken sate, or the Chefs special kebabs (with a delightfully spicy chilli sauce) are absolute winners. (and very large portions too) Any noodle dish is amazing, as is all the seafood.. I've now had prawn, squid and scallops, and all are of absolute freshness, and are cooked to perfection. On the first time I went to this restaurant, which to be honest is quite sparcely decorated and lit.. I was greeted by only one other table being used. The occupants said that they'd seen my party pass by, and then come back, and 'we'd chosen a good-un' here. They then proceeded to offer us tastes of their dishes before we ordered to prove,.. (one of which was the Peking chicken) I'm a very fussy eater, and wouldn't normally dream of accepting, but I did on this occasion, as they genuinely seemed proud of the restaurant,.. Those adventurous dishes are what make this gem so amazing. Trust me when I say your taste buds will thank you for taking the path less traveled. If you check out the included photo you'll see a wide assortment of flavors on display, from spicy dumplings swimming in delicious hot oil to aromatic spicy crab, which was a surprise hit. Yes, there are spicy dishes a plenty at this place, but you'll also find plates suitable for milder tongues as well. The entire menu is packed with delicious food which will satisfy just about anyone in your group. Indoor dining isn't happening these days, but during my previous visits to Jin Jiang I always found the service to be friendly and attentive while the atmosphere was quite comfortable.
