They pressure you to sign a contract for the work and the work is subpar. It does not meet code or professional workmanship. They sat in my house for couple of hours until i signed despite the fact that i told them i had to check with my attorney and would let them know in the morning. They refused to leave. I should have called the police right then and there. I did contact the police later that week when i saw the results of the job. I also checked with city hall to see if they had pulled a permit as I was told by them that they had the inspector coming next week. This was after they finished the job and wanted payment. Lo and behold city hall said no permit was pulled and no inspection was ordered. Their names are Freddie and Matthew. The work was done by 2 gentlemen who do not speak English. I will be taking legal action on this matter to recoup what i paid since I have to have all the work completely redone and it has comprised the integrity of our 4 season room. I also just recently lost my husband and they preyed on that. Unfortunately, i was scammed. I repeat, do not use them.

I shared with him what I thought was possible and Michael and team filled in the details. They ended up giving me a whole new backyard. Michael met us at the stone gallery and was patient with us while we discussed options and tweaked the proposal. He worked with us and was onsite every day. They worked very fast. They did all of the following in 3 weeks and 2 days - took down a huge rock wall 4ft x 80ft, removed 6ft ft of earth behind that, added several inches of rock and paving substrate to remove the need for a step on 2 doors, put up a new huge retaining wall, and replaced 3 small ones with steps. They did all this on a hilly property. The grass was damaged in spots and they brought in new soil and flattened it out and seeded it. They are not cheap but provided a good value and likely a better product than other quotes. One example is using some of the extra retaining wall blocks to stabilize the paver patio stays in place on both sides. Every weekend they cleaned the street and made sure to not block traffic everyday. I have more projects for Michael and team and look forward to further improving my property. I'll add more photos when all the grass comes back and I get better patio furniture.

AVOID MASS MASONRY & STONE AT ALL COSTS!!!!…read more These guys lie and cheat to get business. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Beware!!! John Ford is the manager of this operation and he will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to secure your business. That includes misinformation (lies!!). My elderly parents were manipulated and signed a contract based on an agreement with John. They trusted him and were let down. Mass Masonry & Stone (MMS) uses a MA Contractor's License that DOES NOT belong to them. According to public record and MMS marketing materials (flyer, website), MA license #192910 belongs to Miguel Reascos, who is NOT affiliated with this business. Miguel, the owner of MMS, is a FRAUD and has stolen someone else's information. The work done by Miguel (owner) and John's crew is incomplete. The work quality is poor as puddles can now be seen in a freshly paved driveway. Corners were cut and the results are glaring. In addition, it is worth noting that both Miguel and John Ford have very bad tempers. I experienced this directly, as did my parents, and my uncle. Their lack of professionalism is appalling, and an embarrassment to anyone in the Boston business community. Both are disrespectful, aggressive, uncouth, and vile. Aside from the behavioral issues, Mass Masonry & Stone did not properly complete the project. The work was faulty (see pictures) and needs to be redone. The primary issues with Mass Masonry & Stone: 1. Poor work quality 2. Incomplete work. Mass Masonry & Stone did not compete the agreed to work in the contract. Asphalt was laid and all other steps were not completed (includes 6" of modified stone, 2" binder blacktop, overlay driveway, fill major cracks, compression of all edges at 45%, etc.) 3. Defective work. After less than 2 weeks of the work being done there are puddles in the driveway. AFTER ONLY 2 WEEKS!!! (see pictures) 4. Payment. My parents wanted to use a check and MMS would ONLY ACCEPT CASH PAYMENT. It was expected that THOUSANDS of dollars would be paid in cash. Not check. Not money order. Not credit card. CASH. Additional Issues: 1. CHILD ENDANGERMENT. On the day the primary work was done, Mass Masonry & Stone had a 9 year old child on site near hazardous materials. This is unsafe and there are child protection and labor laws that have been violated. 2. Continuous LIES. It's become too hard to keep track of the lies, but I have text messages that show much of the misinformation that was shared. 3. TAX FRAUD. When a business demands cash payment you have to wonder about issues like TAX EVASION. 4. THREATS for bad reviews. Threats that insinuate harm by Miguel Reascos (owner), and the families of Miguel Reascos and John Ford. The threats were made by Miguel Reascos via text messages. These messages have been shared with the police. John Ford has also threatened me. Those have also been shared with the police. 5. Ongoing INTIMIDATION. John Ford has shown up at my parent's home after being told not to go anywhere near them or their property. My elderly father has asked John directly to leave them alone. 6. ILLEGAL BUSINESS OPERATIONS. The address for this business is in the projects of South Boston according to the Boston Police Department. This causes additional concern as government housing (BHA) is not to be used for business operations. I do not want anyone else to be treated poorly or tricked into doing business with John Ford, Miguel Reascos (owner), and Mass Masonry & Stone. NOTE: I originally wrote this review in June 2019. I was contacted by Mass Masonry & Stone and asked to take the review down, and they asked to be given an opportunity to fix the issues. Mass Masonry & Stone also offered financial compensation to my parents (my parents nor I asked for this). I agreed and then they started playing games. After weeks of dealing with their nonsense, and after giving them many chances to correct their wrongdoing, I have no choice other than to expose them. I have voicemail messages and hundreds (HUNDREDS!!) of text messages from both John and Miguel which I will not share here due to the graphic nature of some of the content. What I will share is that Miguel Reascos of South Boston, MA and John Ford of Dorchester, MA have THREATENED ME. I have taken the appropriate steps to protect myself, my family, and our properties (surveillance, etc.). I will continue to address this matter through formal and proper channels. To anyone who is considering Mass Masonry & Stone, please protect yourselves. The work quality is terrible, the business practices are fraudulent. If you complain, they will threaten you and show up at your home to enforce their intimidation tactics. If any harm is caused to me, my family, or our properties, then Miguel (owner) and John Ford (manager) of Mass Stone Masonry should be considered persons of interest and the likely culprits.

The price was very fair, too. They were able to start work almost immediately, which again is very rare. They finished the hard concrete work in repairing the facade and the stairs in less than 2 days, which is a big deal because you need to use stairs. We also ran into an issue where the color didn't match the neighbor's stoop, which had me worried because I've had negative experiences in the past. With MASS masonry, this was no issue and they came back and knocked it out of the park! If you have any masonry repairs, and need an honest contractor (honest is rare in Boston!) call these guys!

The original cement had turned white over the years, so I needed someone who knew how to match it properly. Stephen came for an estimate when he said he would, assured me he could do the job, and gave me what seemed to be a reasonable price for what he said would be "two days work with two guys." Well, from there he became totally unreliable. He didn't show up when he said he would, and for a couple of days he didn't return my calls asking where he was. I'd given the man a deposit, so I cared what happened to him. When he finally did call, he explained that he'd had some problems with his car. That still wasn't an excuse for not keeping me updated, but I wanted the job done, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. My mistake. He continued to be flaky, only coming to work a couple of hours here and a couple of hours there. He only brought one other guy once. In total, he probably worked about one day. I still would have been okay with all that if Stephen's work had been good. It wasn't. Stephen assured me that the areas he repointed were wet and would turn white like the original cement over the next month or two. It's now been four months, and I've seen no change. Lesson learned. I shouldn't have paid him the rest of his fee until the cement changed! Or better than that, I should have gotten a second opinion first. A separate contractor has now told me it will take $1700 to repair.

He had to dig up the cement in front of my home because it was cracked(the landing) and replace it. He had a vision of putting in brick saying it would look awesome and it will up the value of my home. o.k. great! OMG!!! what did he do? The red brick did not match or blend at all and then he put a grey cement border around the brick. It looks absolutely HIDEOUS! I have to find someone to fix his work. It's so upsetting, i'm sick over it. Also he gave us one price when he saw the job, came to get the deposit and went up $350.00 and when his terrible job was just about done, he wanted another $650.00 and my CRAZY husband gave it to him to get rid of him and have the job completed. The red brick out front was upraised and we told him someone would trip ( my daughter did) and he inferred we were liars when we told him!! Sadly I would not recommend him, and he should be embarrassed for the lousy job he did!!!
