Family owned and does business with a caring, honest and sincere work ethic. I received a very fair and honest quote for the mitigation of over a dozen very large trees. The job was completed ahead of time with careful respect to the property. I challenge you to find a finer and a more forthright company for your logging needs. Ask for Jim read more

From start to finish Tree's Unlimited were amazing! Family owned and operated and it shows throughout the entire crew on site. They listened, did not miss anything and made safety concerns aware to us as well. Jaw dropping entertainment, watching how hard and efficient they work. Left the job site cleaner than when they got there. I would recommend Tree's Unlimited without hesitation. Ray Harrison Banner Lava Cap read more

Jim (and Everet, next generation) are very straight forward and good communicators. They are very knowledgeable about big trees and their health. They have done work on the property several times and let us know what needs to be removed as well as trees that don't. Bids are fair and reasonable, they are very prompt, respectful of the land and take care to not damage our creek and water lines even while using tractors and other machines. We are always impressed with the skill of their crew removing difficult trees in tight spaces. Exceptionally good at their craft and honorable business people, we highly recommend. read more

We can always count on Trees Unlimited to come through as we have used his tree and masticating service in the past. We had a dead pine tree and a smaller one that the beetles attacked. I called, Jim came out to give an estimate and the next day his crew arrived and removed both trees in record time. Jim was able to fit us in between his busy schedule and we could not have been more pleased with the work. I would give a 10 star rating if I could. Exceptional work and fair priced. read more

These folks were easy to work with, thorough and quick. We had a 80'+ tall cedar growing through our deck and an oak spur that needed to be removed. They did all of the work in less than a full work day and cleaned up afterward. Nor was the job easy--it required a crane and involved some weird angles from the street. Job was done exactly as described. Notably, they were a pleasant surprise on the cost as well, which was lower than expected. That doesn't happen often. When I need tree work done again I'll be calling them back. read more

The name says it all..........TREES UNLIMITED with GREAT customer service, from putting in for a request with Sherry & getting an a very reasonable quote (meaning they're not here to rip you off, but to help the community) From the beginning of the job/project to the end, was respectful crew and clean up was AWESOME Big Grins, Jim & Arline in Chicago Park read more

Feb 12, 2026 The crew got right to work. Everyone knew what their job was and how to do it safely - like a choreographed show. One of the ponderosa pines was 170 feet tall and 4 ft at the base; the other was about 50 ft shorter and 3 ft across. Using an ingenious system, they had a climber in each tree, roping each section, sawing it at a calculated height; then alternately lowering sections of the material down to the ground crew to pile up to be moved with a skid steer. We had asked for the logs and branches to be placed in certain areas, and they did so neatly. They somehow saved a camellia bush growing next to the big tree. They also cleaned up the area afterwards. Communication prior to the event was very clear and they did not go over the reasonable estimate provided, even though a little additional work was required. This is the fourth time we have used their services since 2021 and they have come through each time, so we recommend them highly. read more

Beyond our expectations! We had two trees fell as well as multiple trees trimmed. Jim and his team are the best. They went above and beyond, now when I look at my land I see so many possibilities. read more

This may be the first as-it-happened review, for as I type they are still finishing up. I had a major tree removal -- that is 5 tall pines, 5 oaks, plus a variety of large limbs from other trees. In short, I can't imagine any way that they could improve. From the estimate to the completed work there was excellent communication throughout, and a professionalism that is unmatched in my experience -- not just in tree removal but in any business, period. The work itself was highly coordinated and the crew were super-efficient, and managed the whole thing (from arrival to cleanup) in a remarkably short time. And yet they are as friendly and as down-to-earth as can be (with special kudos in this regard to Chris). Amazing service, amazing people -- who could ask for more? read more

Today we had a 100+ ft tall oak tree taken down because it was actually growing through a cut out in the garage overhang when we bought the property. Trees Unlimited did an amazing job with the help of a crane. They completed the job in 2.5 hours, and aside from the oak rounds left as firewood, you can't even tell anything happened. So clean and efficient! Excellent service from beginning to end! We highly recommend Jim Norman's Trees Unlimited to anyone that needs some tree work done. read more

Will never use another company again! Jim and his crew were punctual, professional, friendly and did such an amazing job. We were fortunate to have them in prior to a major wind storm. We trimmed over 30 trees and had post storm clean up that was minimal with no property damage. Their work greatly removed so much stress from not just the trees, but the property residents and management as well. read more

A truly professional, experienced, friendly, insured and well equipped tree service. Quick responses for estimates and scheduled our approved estimate as their busy schedule allowed. We had a lot of recent storm damage, and also wanted a few trees near the house removed for fire safety. They had the right equipment to get high up into the oak & cedar trees, and did it with professionalism. They are my go-to tree company for this kind of work. They bucked up the tree trunks and chipped the other stuff, just as we requested. Cleaned up the property well and we are very pleased with their service. I am feeling safer about future storms and the next fire season. read more

I had an appointment at 9:30 in the morning on Monday, October 23. I took off work so I could be here and nobody could bother to show up or even call all day. Very unprofessional, and apparently a very flaky operation. read more

I have used Jim Norman's company twice. Once, a few years ago to remove six dead pine tress, each of which was over 140 ft. tall. He did the job in less than two days and had the large trunks hauled away and left the property in good condition. I used him again, a few days ago, at my Nevada City home. He did a complete "safety" removal and "fuel" removal which left my house much safer from fire and no longer in danger of having a large oak limb fall on my house. He actually had a large crew do the job, when I anticipated one or two guys with a bucket lift. This is a rental, and my tenants were very impressed with the execution of the work. I would not even think of using anyone else. read more

Awesome job, thank you for making memorial park look so good. God and country outstanding.!!!!!

Look no further! This is the best tree company in the area, and I've hired about 5 other companies before finding Trees Unlimited. Jim Norman and his partner Sherry are the most professional and organized people that I have met in this line of work. They are both very friendly, organized, and honest. Sherry did an amazing job of keeping things organized, and communicating very well with me throughout. I've worked with other companies that take forever to respond, or don't respond at all, which is very frustrating! Jim was very honest, knowledgeable, and stayed true to his original quote. His quote was also much less than the other guys for much more work! Not only did his crew handle A LOT of work efficiently, they left our property looking beautiful. I am so grateful to Jim, Sherry, and his crew! I am feeling so much safer about the next fire season, thanks to them. read more

Jim Norton and Sherrie Andreini responded with an on-site walkaround written estimate. Within two days after the estimate was approved, Jim and Sherrie contacted us and sent a team of 9 helmeted and chapped work team. Before touching my yard, Jim Norton (Owner of Trees Unlimited) was onsite with the Team walking through the yard and verbally instructed everyone his cost effective plan that promotes preservation of residential yard greenbelt (while chipping, tree climbing, cutting-clearing up to 10 ft vertically and sideways, creating and following "Nevada County Defensible Space). Entire work area throughout my yard included pickup and air blowing of all cut material. Any tree section that could not be chipped was loaded on a flat bed truck and hauled away. The Trees Unlimited Team focused on elimination of all overgrown "ladder fuel" wood overgrowth that can help control a wild fire encroaching on our property. When time came to pay for the work, their were no surprises (No add on's or labor cost overruns) and we were asked if we had any concerns and were satisfied with their work and cleanup. Trees Unlimited estimates accurately, works as a safety conscious team of professionals. I will be contacting Trees Unlimited each year for my defensible space "tune-up". They probably have saved my home by doing work early in the Nevada County, CA rural High Risk fire season. read more

Great job on our property of cutting, masticating and clearing. We could not be happier with their services and prices. Would highly recommend. Jim Norman and his crew which are such hard workers, nothing slowed them down not even on the hottest day of the year. The saw man can drop them on a dime. Thank you so much. read more

Jim Norman and his crew of 9 arrived on time and ready to work. I booked with Jim in June 2021, and due to high demand for tree services in our fire prone area, had to wait until October for his services. TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT. They came on the date I was told they would. I've never seen a crew so organized and communicative with one another and apparently content with their company. They did all the work (plus properly opening up one extra tree to light with pruning) that was talked about in the bid Jim originally gave me and they did it in 1 day, though he had thought it might take a day and and half. I have a very developed garden and while I knew that some of my plants and understory trees might take a hit, that was not the case. We had a huge oak right next to the house and the tree climber was careful and roped all the heavy component parts of the tree branches and then the trunk to bring down the tree without damage to my roof/home or the understory plantings. He worked in unison with 2 others on the ground, while another crew of 3 brought down a completely dead tree outside my fence and another set of 3 worked elsewhere on the property. They chipped the small material from the trees and broadcast it properly, but I had them haul away all the big trunks. They used the steer skid to load it into one of the pickups and it's off my property. Yay! They cleaned up the area too and you can only tell they were here if you know what to look for in the trees. I would use them again at the drop of a hat. They knew exactly what they were doing and functioned like a well oiled machine. Great job. I highly recommend Trees Unlimited services. Renee read more

Just had Trees Unlimited take down a tall oak and fir tree today. This is the 4th or 5th time we've had Trees Unlimited do jobs for us, so what does that tell you? Working with Jim to get an estimate and Sheri to get the job scheduled is quick and the communication is great. No BS. Jim runs a tight ship and has top notch, professional crews that know what they are doing. I'm always blow away watching the climber methodically take down tall trees and how the climber and the ground crew work together to keep our shrubs and other plants from getting damaged. I can't say enough about how much I admire the entire operation. read more

Two stars is generous. I scheduled them weeks in advance (August 2015). They did not show up and never returned calls despite my five calls to them. This is a Nevada County Contractor with too much business for the time being and they are unreliable and unresponsive. All I asked for was a call back after the no-show. Friends however have used them with success which explains why they don't join the one star group. Update: I emailed them Sept 1015 (they don't return telephone calls) to make sure they were aware that I consider them non-responsive and unreliable and give them an opportunity to respond or protest..... no response. Steer clear of this outfit. I went online and found numerous companies that were available now to do my tree trimming/cutting work.... read more

Great job! The crew worked like a well-oiled machine - everyone knew their job and did it efficiently. They accomplished the job in the time they'd predicted, even though we'd thought the time estimate might be low. They cleaned up well. Their price was extremely competitive. We highly recommend them and will use them again! read more

In a word, fantastic. Jim and his crew of professionals did an amazing job. Highly recommend these professionals. As a side light, they even cleaned up after themselves. read more

Jim Norman and his crew are amazing! We had 6 oaks which needed removal! Jim noticed a fire hazard from one which was not being removed and trimmed back the limb without changing the price! As an added bonus the trees were cut to wood stove length pieces and they even blew off all decks and driveway!! What superb service! Thank you gentlemen for an excellent and quick job! read more

Had a 70' tree come down in a storm in May. The tree fell on a 12' high fence that wrapped itself around the tree and made the base impossible for me to get out on my own. I made calls to multiple services. This was the only one to call me back. I described what I thought was a big job. They came out with skip loader the same day and had it gone in no time. They were professional, quick (90 min) and reasonable. I can finally get the fence repaired! read more

We had a great experience with this company. We had to do quite a bit of work at my mom's place for insurance purposes, and they got the job done quickly and at a fair price. They came out with a full crew and left the property in great shape. We passed Cal Fire's inspection with flying colors. My mom was pretty nervous and upset about this whole thing, but the people at Trees Unlimited were kind and reassuring. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. read more

Very punctual, professional and friendly!! The team went above and beyond for us. Clean site after work was complete. Highly recommended!!

Jim Norman and his crew performed tree cutting and clearing services for us today. They did great work, gave super advice and were very reasonable compared to other tree services we employed in the area. I highly recommend Trees Unlimited. read more

On a recent Sunday morning, we came home to find that half of a twin oak tree had fallen near our house. It had rotted out inside the trunk below the dirt level and the tree trunks split in two. The other trunk of the tree was still standing , aimed at our deck and garage. The first half caused little damage but this one would be costly if it also fell. I had seen the crew from TREES UNLIMITED before on another job and they were getting a lot done and in a most professional way. I had filed their name in my head if I ever needed them. Well, this day I needed them bad. My wife called their number-271-5536 and left a message. We were called back in short order and informed that Jim would be by to take a look. He came over soon and determined that the tree needed to be felled now. He returned with another of his crew and proceeded to safely bring the other standing tree down in what only seemed like a half an hour. I am grateful to Jim and crew for going out if his way on a Sunday, and saving us from more damage. His rates are very reasonable and I would recommend TREES UNLIMITED in a heartbeat. Great professional work like theirs is a breath of fresh air. Jim Norman, you lead a fine crew. read more
