CASH ONLY WARNING: Nobody will tell you that Jim Jack's is cash only until you get the check and attempt to use a credit card. No signs, no warnings, nothing. And yes, shockingly there are still places in 2019 that don't take credit cards, so beware.
Jim Jack's is a cozy little restaurant with seating for only 16 on the right half, and takeout orders only on the left half, with neither connected (unless you're an employee). There is no need to order at the bustling left half where takeout orders are flying like it's a Manhattan diner. You only need to take a seat in the quiet right half and wait for a server.
As Americans would say, Jim Jack's has a pretty solid fish and chips game. It's not earth-shattering food but it's tasty, and it will definitely hit the spot for hungry patrons.
The haddock is fresh and the batter is excellent (the haddock supper has traditional batter while the breaded haddock supper has a breadcrumb batter, both good). The chips are just like they are anywhere else in the UK.
Tip: Try the chips dipped in their curry sauce. Yum!
So, bring cash, be prepared for pretty good food, and have a blast. read more
