I would have given this lovely store 5 stars had it not been for the staff...they never engaged with the customers until you asked a question or stepped up the cash register to purchase something. She was nice when we did end up spending money in the store.

HOWEVER, let it be known...I'm not sure I have ever been in a more bizarrely unwelcoming and aggressively hostile shop. I have traveled all over the world...and certainly all over Michigan...and no shop has ever had more security cameras, rules posted, and snarky, rude negative employees. It is so off-putting I do my best to avoid it. For a tourist village, this shop is actively making it known they don't care about welcoming customers and they are clearly maniacally paranoid. Enter at your own risk. Are the candles pleasant? Yes. But it's not worth the experience you are forced to go through to make a purchase.

She startled and scared and creeped me out that I took 2 steps in and walked right out. She was scolding me for taking a photo. She was so not welcoming to fellow yelpers, reviewers, potential free marketing or potential curious customers. She lost business from my husband and I with her curt, raucous and rude manners. After such an traumatic experience with this place, I shutter to say it, but I hope it shuts down this year or sooner, especially with such a rude person on their staff. She was the most shamelessly awful employee I have ever come across in all of my 888 establishments I have visited through Yelp so far. If 0 stars was allowed, I would have given it to them and I don't say that, ever. She was well deserving of -5 if possible. Good riddance to this mean staff member, she will for certain drive away customers by the droves. This woman left such a bad impression that I wanted to leave this village and get as far away as possible from this obviously insecure lady, had nothing but bad vibes from this toxic inhuman source.

Clerk was not helpful and a bit abrupt. She stated there were no return policy. I asked where this policy was posted-and apparently, it's located on a very small piece of paper that is in the middle of the desk where you would set your purchases onto-and therefore the policy would normally then be UNDERNEATH what you want to buy and would remain unseen. I feel this is rather disingenuous- they offered a store credit only- however we explained that we were on our way out of town and not planning on coming back to Pentwater. I understand it's a small business, and I understand they stated they have a no return policy however feel it was not properly posted & seeing as she bought the shirt a minute before and hadn't even left the store yet, they should have made an exception. Just my humble opinion.
