I've been riding daily for over three years now and I've been to studios across the country--from SoulCycle's famous West Hollywood studio to the boutique mom and pop studios and everything in-between. As someone who has a knack for group fitness, I know what to look for when I try a new class--a confident and personable instructor, a supportive community, clean/modern facilities and classes that challenge and inspire. Jibe offers it all, and then some. The women who run this studio are simply amazing. They really put in the time to make classes that are challenging and fun. Good music is a must for me to ride to and you'll find that here--instructors play an eclectic mix of pop, upbeat electronic, hip hop through the decades and even some country. You can't go wrong with any instructor here--some of my favs were Tori, Nikki and Helena--but they're all great, especially Jo the owner, who really makes an effort to push riders outside of their comfort zone, while making her classes fun and quirky. I'm so sad I had to leave the Jibe community after a short year of riding with them. I recommend this studio to any newcomers to Portland--these amazing women will make you feel SO welcomed. I also encourage riders of all experience levels to check out their classes, as my first-timer friends had nothing but great things to say about the classes I brought them to. Jibe is hands down the best boutique spin studio I've been to. You get all the perks of a Soulcycle class without the stuffiness. I hope to be back one day! read more

Very good cycling studio, I have only been once so far but have purchased the five pack so I will update when I get more a feel for the place/instructors. Overall though, good facilities everything is kept very clean. The locker room is very well equipped in keeping with a premium experience, the cycling studio room is a bit cramped the space isn't laid out well to accommodate someone who is 6'3. Staff was courteous and the instructor was engaging. I've been to a fair amount of cycling spots across the globe, the ones I've liked the best are when I don't speak the language and can just follow the choreography by watching. I'm not a huge fan of the "girl boss" affirmations but being a dude I recognize that I'm not the key demographic of the industry and maybe this isn't supposed to be for me. I cannot say enough good things about this studio. A friend of mine introduced me & I am so happy that she did. I had never tried rhythm riding before and the staff at Jibe made me feel so welcome. Every ride is an amazing, challenging, fun & uplifting workout. They have truly thought of everything down to the lovely scented brand of bath products they provide in the locker room. I started going to Jibe almost two years ago. The studio is cute but air ventilation is pretty bad (is located in the basement). Instructors are a hit or miss, some play good music others mostly yell over the music (Tori). It's especially problematic if you sit next to a speaker (I've walked out with a migraine). However, there are several great instructors, Joanna, Helena, Rachel, Margaret, and Nikki. I can't say the front desk service here is great, average at best. Mediocre spin studio that wishes it was Soul Cycle. They claim to be inclusive and that jibe is for everyone, yet the front desk staff is dismissive and uninterested when you're checking in. In general everyone working there is extremely cliquey, and no one makes an attempt to be nice to new riders. That being said, your spin choices in Portland are limited, so if you're craving a ride this is your best bet. read more

Jibe is my favorite way to workout. The classes push me harder than I thought I could go and I feel like a strong badass by the end. Which totally describes the spirit of Jibe: kick ass, move to the beat and finish the class together, as a group! I loved the theme rides (Beyoncé, Boy Bands vs. Girl Bands) and the music is killer. Seriously, the playlists are amazing! Dark studio, state-of-the-art bikes and having spin shoes included in your class makes all the difference. Classes are easy to book with the app or online too. The space is beautiful, bright and clean clean clean. I cannot say enough good things about Jibe and tell all my family and friends to check it out. Intro classes are free and peppered into the schedule which makes trying spinning MUCH less intimidating. Joanna is an amazing owner: every detail is thought of and she is so welcoming! I tend to do a soul cycle class whenever I'm in NY or DC, and although I find it pretty cheesy, it's also fun and makes me smile/laugh, and of course it's a good workout. The spin classes that I'd previously done in Portland didn't have that same vibe and left me uninspired. I was excited when Jibe opened because it does have a similar vibe, with the dark room and the light show and the choreography. I'm currently 8 months pregnant and going to class about once a week. Even though I can't fully keep up with all the choreography at this point, I never feel judged for that, and I feel like I'm welcome in the classes. Also, they are way cheaper than soul cycle (which, FYI, doesn't exist in portland)! read more

These classes are fun and motivational- they "ride to the beat" at Jibe and it makes such a difference to me (even if I do go off beat sometimes). All of the instructors are excellent, there is a great range of class times, and they have fun theme rides like "Michael vs Janet". I LOVE the choreography and feeling like you're using your whole body in the classes; it is challenging and really fun. The studio is great with big mirrors and enough space between bikes that you don't feel like you're on your neighbor's lap. They have several big showers, with shampoo and conditioner and soap and towels so you don't need to bring all that stuff with you. clip in bike shoes are included in the class price. Joanna and her team of instructors and front desk people are all really friendly and encouraging whether it is your first ride or your 50th with them. and of course the Old Port location makes it so easy to jump over to the studio from your work day. read more
