After my "gym tour" with the one of their very kind staff members, I knew I had found my new local spot for workouts. The gym itself is quite big. It has two levels, with most cardio machines being on the first floor and the weights/dumbbells on the second level. I've been going for a few months now, and these are some of my favorite things: - Always clean - Lots of locker space - All machines have been working flawlessly - They follow Covid-19 protocols, so certain machines are blocked off - 24 hour access (!!!!) - Lots of machines, so I never have to wait around to use a tread, for example - Doesn't get too crowded even during peak hours For $15, I get a LOT more than what I expected. I can cancel at anytime and I didn't even have to pay a fee upfront. They do charge you a $39 one-time fee during the first 30 days of signing up, which apparently locks in your membership price in case of any increases in the future. You can also upgrade your membership to their "premium" version which includes tanning, access to the Theragun and a few other perks.

The pilates reformer classes alone are worth dropping by for a killer workout at a reasonable price point. The pilates instructors are all wonderful and their workout/instruction styles vary. Maggy and Cate are two of the best pilates instructors I've ever come across - I take their classes and I walk out feeling like I am both a jelly roll and also the strongest person on planet earth lol. This is the premiere pilates studio in the area - can't tell me otherwise. I appreciate the variety of other classes (yoga flow, barre, dance, strength & conditioning) to make sure you cross-train your body. Since I'm a student, I'm constantly looking for the best deals for any and everything, including gyms/workout classes. I have yet to find a workout as satisfying or inexpensive as Dynamics boot camp classes. You can get a single class for $7.50 or a 10 class pack for $60. You can also share your classes with other people, so you could split a pack with someone, which not many places allow you to do! I have yet to leave this place without shaking a bit and already knowing I'll be very sore the next day. No matter how many people are in the class (I've been in classes with as many as 30 or as few as 6), it's always a good workout. I've also taken classes from a few of the different trainers and love them all. They each have a slightly different style, but you'll get a great total body workout no matter what. The last thing I love about these classes is that there is ZERO judgement from anyone - your fellow attendees or the trainers. The trainers always give options for modifications or show ways to make the move easier (or harder). Everyone is going through the class to the best of their ability and all classes are completed with clapping and high fives all around. The trainers even make sure to go around to everyone and give them a high five and say "good job!" Seriously check this place out if you can!!!

This gym is in a strip mall that appears to be connected to apartments. Never been an issue, except sometimes when you go in the bathroom you can smell the very strong stench of cigarette smoke. I usually just hold my breath and deal. Over the past few months (6 months maybe?), the ceiling has collapsed in this gym, which has made for pretty messy and uncomfortable workouts. I get it- construction stuff sucks- but it looks like they haven't done any work to fix it. It didn't really bother me until today. The neighbors' cigarette smoke is now pouring directly into the gym. The entire gym smells like cigarettes because of whatever is happening with the vents and ceiling. I can't deal with smoke as it is, but even more so when I'm heaving on the Stairmaster. Like what? I really hope they fix this because this has been such a lovely gym. It's easy to get to, located just outside of the main tourist and traffic area of downtown, and very rarely do I have any trouble parking. What truly sets SH/FT apart though are the trainers, who quite honestly have become more like family and friends for my husband and I (as well as many of the other members). Not only are the trainers highly educated in health and fitness, but they are constantly improving their knowledge and techniques. For me this has provided an incredibly dynamic personal training program that has given me results that I could have never imagined possible. I have never felt so fit, so motivated and so strong - while also constantly being challenged to take it to the next level. And coming from someone who has been working out since about age 5 this is a pretty bold and authentic statement. This attention to detail also carries over into small group training and classes, where the workouts are always challenging, creative and planned with an ultimate goal of full body fitness in mind. Between the personal training and small group classes, I am excited to attend session because it's fun, challenging and improving my health and wellness. I have been working out at Shift for about 2 years and the change has been incredible for me. We all need to exercise to live a healthy life and I feel fortunate that Shift keeps me motivated and having fun while exercises. Their facility is incredibly clean, bright and welcoming. The restrooms have showers lockers and amenities. There are Pelotons bikes, treadmills, free weights, smith machines, TRX bands and not to mention highly educated instructors that are complete geeks about body mechanics and training.
