What a great place - full of fun and interesting instructors and kick-ass workouts. You can pretty much choose your own playlist by examining the music each instructor will be playing for their class (they advertise well in advance, and some have "themes" - like country or Britney Spears Dance-off!). The crowd is 95% female, but don't let that dissuade you if you aren't - it's a very welcoming group of students (and teachers). I felt like I fit in right away and am glad to add my yang to the yin. If you don't know anything about cycling (like me, at first), they will go over how to set up your bike. And, if you forget, they will more than happily go over it with you the next (or next, or next) time. You will get a great workout, listen to some awesome music and be in a community full of friendly people. What more could you want? Only drawback is that classes fill up QUICKLY, so you may have to reserve well in advance - and they do have a penalty if you don't "unreserve" within a set amount of time (I think 10 hours, and it definitely isn't enough time as a lot can happen within 10 hours). But that's the only negative in a vast ocean of positives. read more

This is for the Thompson's Point Summer Series, outdoors under the awning with beautiful Fore River views. In summary, if you have any interest in spinning, the competition just can't beat the views. Come here. Now for some background: I despise cardio. Unless I'm being chased, I'm not running. I owned a Peloton for a year and a half and used it religiously for 6 months, then got bored, slacked off, and recently sold it. It just doesn't motivate me. I haven't tried Soul Cycle, Cycle Bar or Jibe, but those are more "dance-y" spin classes. I can't even walk straight sober, so I'm not dancing. At least for the summer, the overall experience at Reve can't be topped. You sign up for specific bikes on the website, then park for free at Thompson's Point (I know, shocker!). The bikes are socially distanced under the giant awning structure, so weather isn't an issue, and they face the river. Again, you're cycling outside facing the water, not some crummy parking lot. The instructors are great, and it's just a lot more fun in person than on a Peloton. With that being said, I do miss having the metrics. I'm a numbers guy, and in the Peloton live studio (or at home) you can see your resistance and cadence. I find this a lot more helpful than "turn the knob twice to the right." Also, this is luxury activity. It's expensive at $18-$25 a class. But to get a great workout outdoors during these crazy times with such a gorgeous backdrop? It's a no brainer, and highly recommended. read more

Full disclosure: the instructor I am about to rave about is a friend of mine. But I can assure you that my recommendation would be no different had I met her the day I walked into her class. I am not a spin person. In fact, I'm not much of an exercise person in general. I workout, sure, but I do it begrudgingly and I rarely push myself to any extreme because...that's hard. So when I started to see my friend Jen teaching more and more classes at Reve this year, I didn't think much of it. I did a spin class once before at a studio out of town when I visited a friend and I was not a fan. The seat hurt, the workout hurt, and I felt like I was distracted and my mind wandered the entire time to all of the things I'd rather be doing. Cut to 3 weeks ago when I heard Jen mention that she taught a Sunday morning class at 10:30 and I thought, "Ok, since I can still sleep in and I don't have to move for the rest of the day, I'll give it a shot." People of Portland, Maine, the surrounding area, and anyone who is passing through, run, don't walk, to Jen Nale's spin class. I don't remember the last time I was so motivated or truly engrossed in a workout. Her playlist is bomb but her narration during the class will give you chills. She is SO inspiring and leads a class filled with the best mix of energy and true inspiration. I have known her for decades but the leader she becomes in her class is someone I have never seen before. I feel like a better human when I leave her class and I'm convinced everyone else will too. read more

I have tried almost every fitness studio/gym/class in the greater Portland area. I have felt supported, welcomed and had a fun workout in all of them except Reve. Reve studio is clean but cramped. Come in when one class is getting out and another is starting and it's chaos. The candles make the studio smell good but maybe a bit pretentious? There are 2 showers with shampoo/conditioner/Dr. Bronners but you have to get dressed in the shower stall unless you want the whole studio to watch you. To dry your hair/get ready the only options are the 2 bathrooms and hopefully nobody has to use them. Bad design here! Speaking of pretentious, I'm pretty sure I saw the lululemon logo on the back of everyone's size extra small leggings. I felt out of place wearing my Old Navy leggings I got on sale for $7. I also kept my tank top on while being surrounded by fit college girls in sports bras. My friend who is overweight stopped coming here because the bikes are so tight together that she couldn't fit between them. Let's just say there is a "type" that goes to Reve. Ordinarily they are very expensive but the $18 for a week with 1 class every day is a steal. However every spin instructor is eerily the same robotic person. There was no variation between classes and all the trainers said the. same. exact. thing. The bike room is dark with no fun lights and the music is lame. The bikes don't even have a screen on them to see your RPMs/Resistance. Every person at the desk greeted me the same way which is to say they didn't greet me at all. This is not the type of place where anyone will remember your name or ask how you are doing. My first day, there was no offer of a tour or help with the bike or instructions about free towels or water. (p.s. there are free towels and a place to fill your water bottle). On the plus side there are multiple class options throughout the day to fit anyone's schedule. However, Dynamics Fitness is right down the road so you should probably just go there because it's amazing. There is parking out back but gets filled quickly and gets kind of scary a la Trader Joe's parking lot. The best part of Reve is Blake Orchard is right downstairs for some post-pretentious-spin smoothies! Oh- and call "tone and trim" what it is: Pilates. read more

Rêve is such a great studio with all of the staff and instructors being extremely welcoming. Whether it's your first time trying a class or your first time at Rêve they make sure that you have any help you may need. They do some themed rides throughout the week which are extremely fun and they have a wide range of class times so you are able to fit this into even the busiest of schedules. The studio is always very clean and while it is a small space it is filled with so much warmth and strength. I could not recommend Rêve enough! read more

I'm hooked! I hate cardio, and I love my classes at Reve. When you walk in, the studio is beautiful and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I had actually never done a cycling class before, so they helped me adjust my bike and learn the controls. When the class starts, the lights go down and the music turns up. It really sets the stage for your ride and is SO much fun. The class is based around riding to the beat, and adjusting your resistance to match the song playing. It's a good mix of classic fun songs you may recognize, and newer songs that maybe you won't but are still equally great. What I love about Reve the most is the accountability. So far, Jennifer has been my favorite instructor, I just love her positive encouragement throughout the workout and her focus on what YOU personally need for a workout that day. It's truly hard to fail at Reve. If you're looking to challenge yourself in a positive environment, definitely try it out! read more

I really really really love this cycling studio. I was a little skeptical at first, but the more I go, the more I love it. All of the instructors dim the lights in the spin room during the classes. Its definitely different from other studios and caught me off guard the first class, but I am now disappointed at other studios when they don't dim the lights. I'm a very competitive person so when the lights are dimmed it's harder to compare yourself to others which makes it easier to focus on yourself and what you went their to accomplish. This studio also focuses on riding to the beat of whatever song is playing. I found it hard at first because a lot of the songs are very quick but it gets easier! Don't get discouraged!! Lastly, the studio is beautiful! There are shower stalls in addition to the two bathroom stalls. The studio space for their yoga/toning classes is also beautiful. The room has one wall of all windows that look out over Forest Ave. One Saturday morning I got to my spin class early and was able to stretch in their and enjoy the view. Rêve is unbelievable! But I have to give them only three stars due to a couple things. The positives, the space is serene, clean and just an overall good energy to build your strength and stay fit. Obsessed with Jennifer as an instructor, you can tell she knows what she is doing and her energy makes the class one of the best that I have ever attended. Negatives, I was hoping to get involved with the Yoga offerings here at Rêve but I could not be more underwhelmed. The instructor, Nicola, is completely clueless on form and yoga flow, she's really not worth your money. Truly disappointing and major weakness of this program. read more

Reve is awesome! If you like sweating real hard and listening to some sweet remixes (Brittany Spears remixes included on occasion) then you may like Reve. It's a great way to break up my typical work out routine and I know that they won't go easy on me so I'm almost always bound to walk out of that place really feelin' the endorphins! I've gotten classes with a couple different teachers and they're all great. Kyle's class is one of my favorites, comes complete with a great playlist for those who can't workout without some great music. I'm training for a marathon this year and needed some cross training and a way to let my knee get some rest from my mileage so I decided to start spinning again, after about five years of not going. Earlier this week I drove from my work to Reve to test the commute time. Upon arriving and discovering the entrance is in the BACK of the building where one could park easily I climbed to the second floor. Lights off. Door locked. Fine. I will pay for your services online! Aha! Genius! I get home and whip out my debit card ready to roll, I bought the first week which is a sweet deal, and went to schedule. Oh? What's that? Preferred time slot/classes are full? No worries, I'll catch the next one! Oh, that's also full... Hmmm. And no earlier class... Hmmm... Okay. I will go two hours after I get out of work which won't leave me time to commute from Gorham back to Portland in traffic so I will hang around and waste time and money. Fine. I like supporting the local economy, let's see what's around! Now I need to change. There are no locker rooms here so I can't go before work, and I have to kind of half wear gym wear. Huh... Glad there is a Walgreen's nearby so I can binge purchase fitness magazines and research 'athleisure...' ----------- Day 1: Kyle was friendly, energetic, and encouraging. Great music! I swear so hard. It was brilliant! Signed up for two more classes this week! ---------- Day 2: Two days later of my first week. Class starts at 7. It is 7:01 by the time I make it to the top of the stairs. Doors are locked and class has started. While it's not okay to be late it's also a real let down because now I'm here and I got up at 6 on a Saturday morning to be here. ---------- AND SO ON. this is a weird pattern of inconvenience. It's unfortunate that the interior is so lovely and the class was so fun. I wish I had better things to say. It seems to be that while the product is worthwhile, the model is flawed. Reve needs an earlier morning class for those who need to go home to shower and be at work by 8, and more evening options. There is no real way to 'drop-in.' (But what if I get out early today?!) I can say that KYLE is awesome. Energetic, knowledgable, and fun. read more

I've been going to reve since the summer. I have never left without completely clearing my head and sweating through my shirt! I go about 2-3 times a week and when I can't my family knows it( haha)! I have had the privilege of riding with most of the instructors. It's challenging to get to some of the classes because they do fill up quick, so I plan ahead. This does two things...A: no excuses B: once commited... Have to kick ass! All instructors have their own style, they all gave great music. I was in town a couple weeks ago for a best friend's wedding and I NEEDED a good sweat sesh at a local yoga place. One of my friends recommended to go to Reve so I figured to give it a shot. I ended up taking a class with an instructor that I was shocked to see in this neck of the woods, Nicola. She isn't great. I took her class at Core Power Yoga in Boston awhile back and everyone kept saying it was "incompetent yoga". Terrible flow, form was off, music doesn't go with the routine and it felt so unfocused. I am not surprised they canned her from CPY and completely took her off the schedule. I saw a cycling studio at Reve, might be worth a shot if the yoga thing isn't working out for the concept. read more

I have been doing PowerYoga in Portland for many years now and tried to mix it up last couple weeks with a new fitness studio. Attended a class with instructor Nicola and it was the worst money I ever spent. Very disappointed how the class was run, the girl seemed really clueless and lost when it came to transitions from exercise to exercise. Motivation: -C, attitude: D, experience, F. Just terrible. I've heard Jennifer is the one to go to so I will definitely make another appearance at Reve but not to for this class on Friday mornings. read more

What a fun place to workout! I just completed my first week using the 1 week for $15 for new customers package. What a great deal! I took 4 classes during this time and even tried the tone and cycle class. I was skeptical about using free weights on a spin bike but it was great and my shoulders were burning. My sister and I decided to try out a few classes. We took a class from Will and from the owner, Stephanie. Both were great classes - challenging and fun. The studio is beautiful and has a great vibe. The time I spend at Rêve is just the best. A combination of a killer workout, great music, and good people is tough to beat, and they've struck the perfect balance of all three. The studio is clean. The classes are tough and make you feel powerful. The instructors and staff are the kindest around. The classes fill up, but the online booking system is easy to work (and if you get yourself on a waitlist for a "full" class, you can generally get in).They don't offer too many yoga classes, but the tone and trim is a great alternative and harnesses the same fun vibe while reminding you of muscles you may not realize that you had.
