The first impression of this restaurant is that the interior is super casual and low key compared to the other restaurants that serve this kind of food. However, looking at the prices it's definitely not too much cheaper than other similar restaurants. This is place is a very mom and pop style. Which I would expect the price to be more reasonable. We ordered: 1. Pork chop fried rice-- small portion, but the taste is pretty good. The fried rice is pretty delicious. 2. Braised beef noodles--Broth flavor is good, but not much noodles. Beef was tender. 3. Small cold dish appetizer--this one is very disappointing, the glass noodles were kind of hard and the flavors were not very good. I didn't want to eat too much of it even this is my usual favorite dish from other similar restaurants. 4. Stirred fried rice cake--this was kind of salty. The more we ate it the more it tasted salty. 5. xiao long bao--this is okay. Not the best Ive had but not bad. 6. Sweet and sour spare ribs--super small portion for the price being charged. It's almost like ding tai fung's price..but in this kind ambience it feels it's over priced. 7. Steamed sticky rice siu mai--the skin was hard as if it wasn't steamed enough. Was craving dumplings but didn't want to do deal with the mall crowd for din tai fung. Found this place which was just a 10 minute drive from us and am obsessed! The food is so good and maybe even better than din tai fung. Their chili oil is so good and flavorful. It goes great with their juicy savory shrimp and pork dumplings which are my favorite. The pork chop fried rice is amazing and so comforting. I enjoyed the shanghai rice cakes with chicken and the beef tenderloin udon as well especially mixed with some of their fresh chili oil. The string beans with garlic has a great crunch texture with a perfect garlic aroma. The service for pick up and to dine in is great and efficient. About three minutes later, the Beef Dumplings arrived. As mentioned, I happily devoured the Pork Xiao Long Bao ($13.49 - 10 pcs) and Beef Dumplings ($13.99 - 10pcs). The Pork XLBs (aka: soup dumplings) are hearty, juicy, and satisfying. The Beef Dumplings are fresh, stuffed, and tender. My teeth easily glided through its juicy meat. This meal did not taste salty; rather, it all came fresh and picturesque. I had plenty of leftovers. It's a lot of food! Regarding ambiance, Jia Yan Dumpling House (Glendora) is well-ventilated and clean. It's also spacious with many, many tables. I also appreciated the light music that cheerfully chimed. Love this place! It's a nice alternative to DTF and the dumplings are handmade. We have tried the Pork XLB, Shrimp and Pork Shao Mai, Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork Baby Back Ribs, Pork Chop Fried Rice, Bok Choy with Garlic, Pork Bun, and Chocolate XLB. After a stroll in downtown Glendora, we were looking at restaurants to grab dinner at. We decided to give Jia Yan a try and upon walking into the restaurant, we were greeted right away by the staff. The restaurant was big with a lot of tables, clean as well, and staff was very courteous and friendly. They share a huge parking lot with other businesses, so parking wasn't an issue. We ordered Pork XLB, Noodles w/ Sesame Sauce, Chicken Fried Noodles, and Shrimp Pork Spicy Wontons. Noodles w/ Sesame sauce - Noodles were thin, had a good texture for each bite, and the sauce coated the noodles nicely. The sauce had a little bit of that numbing spiciness, which was a nice. Shrimp Pork Spicy Wontons - The wontons had a good amount of shrimp and pork filling and was cooked perfectly. However, the spicy sauce was lacking in my opinion. It wasn't as spicy as I'm used to when I order this dish at other restaurants and I would add some chili oil on top next time. Pork XLB - The dumplings had a good amount of filling and the wrapper was not thick. However, there wasn't a lot of soup inside the dumpling after taking the first bite and pouring out the soup into the spoon. Also, the dumplings wasn't pipping hot and the temperature was just warm. I will give them a huge plus on bringing out the freshly sliced ginger to go with the xlb. We also got their hot and sour soup, seaweed and tofu salad, salt and pepper shrimp, egg fried rice, sauteed green beans, and sauteed cabbage. The hot and sour soup is not my favorite, I would not get it again but the sauteed green beans are crispy with a garlicky taste are good. We would come here just for their xiao long bao. We eat here or DoorDash a couple of times a month because it is one of the few dumpling spots near us, and it usually satisfies our cravings. Prices are high, but the food is decent. Today, however, the service was awful. A slender woman with her hair in a messy bun was visibly annoyed and rude from the time we ordered up until paying. Jia Yan is still solid! The prices have changed a bit since last year but the fact that we can get an our fix of XLBs without having to drive too far out is great for us. The XLB prices and other items has understandably gone up a few dollars, but the quality and quick service is still there. It's still low key hidden gem in the city but I notice there's more and more customers dining each time we come. Which I'm happy for them to get more loyal customers. Jia Yan is our other go to spot outside of Din Tai Fung for Pork XLBs, red bean buns and the chocolate XLBs and simply because we know the wait times are usually not long. The food comes out hot and quick. To our tastes, the Xia long bao ( soup dumplings) were not that juicy as others we've had. They also don't offer pan fried dumplings on the menu. However, the beef and noodle soup was very flavorful with chunks of tender beef and very long thin noodles. The garlic chicken wings were also straight from the fryer, hot, crispy and meaty. I came back again and realized why it's been a while since I've been back. The portion size here is too small. Ordering 5 dishes for a family of 4 and everyone is still hungry. As a Chinese person that eats this type of food frequently their portion size is about 2/3 the size of other places. Noodle dishes are more like appetizers. Also they lack dish variety to be eaten with rice. I really want to like this place to support more Asian options in Glendora but the portion size is just way too small. So, i wanted to try a new place with my husband and my best friend for her bday. This place popped up and thought why not!? It was amazing. We got the shrimp and pork spicy dumpling (10/10), pork soup dumpling (10/10), shrimp and sticky rice dumpling (10/10), shrimp fried rice (10/10), sesame noodle (10/10), garlic green beans (8/10) and pork ribs (6/10). We initially came once this place opened and we were so happy we were able to find a legit dumpling place practically walking distance from our place . We enjoyed the pork ribs, xiao long bao , green beans and rice cakes thoroughly as the taste and value were on point- similar to the more popular dumpling establishments a few cities over. Situated in a strip mall with ample parking, inside decor was sparse, but there's a large dining area with several tables so waiting times on a weekend was very short if any . We've been about 3 times since their opening and were happy to see they were getting a consistent flow of customers while we dined . Now our most recent visit fell short - to the point we have to rethink where we decide to dine for our dumpling needs. I'm not 100% sure if the portion size decreased but the prices have definitely surged. For a noodle portion that only feeds about 2 people , the price is definitely way too expensive at about $14.50 . When we eat out , the two of us usually have left overs to last a day or two and with these portions , we had none . We got the pork ribs appetizer (about 6 bite sized pieces for $11.50 , an order of the pork xiao long bao $13.50 and the noodle dish . We wanted to get the green beans but decided against it because of the $15 price tag. I really hope this places lasts but at their prices it's no longer worth it to us anymore. The convenience is nice but these days , since dining out in general is expensive , we'd rather travel to neighboring cities to get a better value for our money. read more

First time here and this place has officially been added to my "places to eat" list. I live 10 minutes from here and it's such a great alternative to Din Tai Fung or Thumpling. Dumpling house suddenly appeared after my favorite pho place closed some months ago. My daughter loves dumplings, so I'm in to try anything local that doesn't have a line. I love Xiao long bao, there's not much better than Ding Tai Fung, other than the long waits and crowds but when there's an option to check out another establishment that does xlb and give DTF a run for its money, I had to check it out. We had the pork xlb; excellent, thin skinned and flavorful broth, shrimp pork spicy wonton, shrimp and pork pot stickers, and Shanghai rice cake with pork, and vegetarian dumplings. She gave the two more and I said can we get extra we all like ginger. She gave me one more dish. We had to practically yell for extra napkins because she ignored us even though she could hear us. Because we asked for napkins and she pretended not to hear, then my daughter walked up to grab them herself and she handed them to her as she was walking up. Now to the food.
