Had a really great experience with Closet Factory, with no hiccups at all…read more Our designer, Jackie Fey, was fantastic. She worked efficiently to get me a design I loved that's really optimized for my space. I never felt upsold. She genuinely focused on making my space work. We went through a couple of rounds of changes, and she was extremely patient the whole way. We were told installation could take up to eight weeks, but we actually got scheduled two weeks early. Mario and Temo built the whole closet in just 2 days and kept the place really clean. They were polite and efficient, and wrapped up by mid-day. We had 2 closets and one pantry done. Highly, highly recommend Closet Factory! I mostly fixed small things like "upsold" and capitalizing Temo. Double-check the spelling of his name before you post.

I wanted to install a closet system in a new walk-in closet and decided to talk to Closet Factory…read morebecause I'm a Costco member and trust the brands it recommends. The first step was consulting with one of their designers, which was a great experience. Vasu came to our house for the initial consultation, taking measurements and describing the options available. After that visit, she scheduled a Zoom session to present the layout she recommended to my husband and I, and made changes real-time based on our feedback. The initial quote seemed pricey for a simple build like ours, which was mostly made of hanging rods plus a few shelves with no drawers or doors. But they were running a discount offer at the time and Vasu tacked on another "designer discount" which together took the price down to a number slightly less than a quote we got from another closet vendor so we went with them. Once we approved the design and signed the contract, the job was scheduled. Initially the install date was more than 8 weeks out, which seemed long. So I reached out to Vasu and she said she'd put me on a wait list for an earlier date. A couple weeks after that Irene called to say an earlier date had opened up so we took it, which ended up being a wait of only 4 weeks. The install went quickly and our closet was done in less than three hours...maybe a bit too quickly because 5 days later a kick board along the base of one wall of cabinets became bowed out, sticking out almost an inch from the cabinet base. I called to have it fixed, which ended up taking a couple of tries because nobody showed up for the first appointment. But once the crew came out they ultimately fixed the issue and now my closet is perfect. Reading other reviews, it seems like some people have had issues getting resolution with follow-up repairs. All I can say is if that happens to you, don't give up. Try to reach a live person when you call; don't leave voicemail because it seems like my messages about the first crew not showing up went into a black hole. Once I got on the line with Irene, we got it worked out eventually. Because of the bowed-out board that took a bit of extra effort to get fixed, I'm taking off one star. But overall I'm happy with the final product and might even use them again for another room.

Tl;dr: Nicoll is AMAZING and clearly knows what she's doing when it comes to professionally…read moreorganizing your home! Read on below if you want more details about the whole process. So...here's the thing about me. I love stuff. I love having a variety of stuff. I love having colorful pens, cute bags, books...you name it, and I probably started collecting some of it at some point. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with wanting to have and own those things. But what I did notice was that the sheer amount of that stuff was really starting to stress me out. Things didn't have a place. My closet and dresser and drawers were stuffed to the brim. I found it difficult to enjoy these fun things I owned because they were mixed in with other things I didn't enjoy or use anymore. I found that I was hanging onto so many items for years "just in case," and the case would never arrive. I'd tried for years with things like the minimalist challenge and reading self help books to try and get rid of things, but I couldn't seem to make a dent. That's where Nicoll came in. My partner helped me find Nicoll on Yelp and connected the two of us together. We had an introductory phone call where she asked me some questions, and I shared my frustrations with getting rid of things and really needing help with it. We ended up making an appointment for a week later where she showed up with her toolkit and bag of bags for donations. We did a little walk around and I shared areas of stress for me and what I wanted out of the space, which was to know where everything was and to know what I owned. After the intro assessment we dove right in. In the next few hours we: ⁃ Took EVERYTHING out of my closet and purged SO much of it. We went piece by piece and she helped ask clarifying questions (when did I last wear it? Do I like it?) and could usually pick up on if I actually liked something. I noticed patterns of how I reacted when I loved something vs when I wasn't sure or was sort of convincing myself. This is an exercise I tried doing before on my own, but when there's someone standing there, who you paid to help you, who's not attached to your stuff....let me tell you, it changes the game. I found myself deciding to donate (and sometimes sell) what must have been at least a third of my closet (clothes, hats, bags, electronics, etc). ⁃ She busted out her label maker and helped organize and label shelves in categories that made sense. Now I know where everything is! ⁃ She packed up all the items I decided to donate into bags and packed them into her car. It ended up being about 15 bags of things which was absolutely wild to me. Nicoll taking these bags out of my house was a game changer, because there have been many times I've decided to donate items that just end up sitting there in bags for months! I noticed that night going to bed that my room felt emptier, in a really good way. It felt calmer, cleaner, and like I could breathe a bit easier. Some people might read this and think that they shouldn't have to hire someone to help them organize. I know for myself that I hit a wall when it came to organizing on my own, and I needed to ask for help. I'm so glad I did, because it changed my life and my relationship with "stuff." I'm confident that Nicoll will be able to help you if you need it, and I cannot recommend her enough!

He was super thoughtful about removing and hauling things like the carpet I tore out. Prices were aligned with others in the area. I liked that Brandon does the work himself, from quote to finish. He completed 4 closets over 2 days. The closets themselves have shifted the whole feel of the rooms. Definitely an upgrade that I'd highly recommend! Lessons I learned, that you may want to heed... if you have access, get in and paint the closets ahead of time. He will do touch ups, and paint over small areas previously occupied by screws, closet bar supports etc, but that doesn't include full painting. In my case the Master closets hadn't been painted since before I moved in 18 years ago - they suddenly looked dingy contrasting with the new materials. It's none fun painting after the fact! Same thing with any flooring updates. Fortunately, I was able to tear up the carpet the evening before he did the last 2 closets. Give yourself the gift of a fully finished, high end closet. You'll thank me later!

In addition to removing 12-years of my past trauma/busy clutter, I then asked him to help refresh my home decor because I was sooooo stuck & burnt-out. He listened/clarified/understood the feeling I wanted to achieve. We hit 3-stores in 3-hours, literally running to load our carts with treasures. How he fit everything into his SUV is a testament to his organizational skills! Then my visitors said, "Wow!" when they entered. I'd ask, "What does that mean?" Consistently they replied, "I didn't expect it to look THIS good!!!" Everything Steve suggested & placed in my home was a winner. Great items, colors, prices, lessons, attitude, work ethic, humor, & style. Everything Steve did is STILL perfect, but I'm now ready to donate/trash/recycle my really old holdover closeted crap and refresh the place again. I want his opinion on refreshing wall colors, moving things around, maybe adding some pieces to swap out for seasonal changes. The fact that I want to call him has already motivated me (says this new donation pile & 3 file boxes of papers emptied). More to do before I call him, must eliminate the obvious distractions first & gather decor samples as I'm on a very limited income now. This time I want his design input vs. the heavy-lifting clutter/lifestyle help. He's great at both!
