They had some good tasting food. I appreciated having self-checkout kiosks. I appreciated that the store had long hours, which was convenient for me. I also liked that I could track purchases using the Jewel-Osco app. For the area, the store also has a convenient location and a sizable parking lot. I appreciated some pre-prepared grab-n-go food that I got at this store. read more

I'm from California and I was here visiting for work. I ran out of my medicine but my local pharmacy was at Sav on inside Albertsons. Come to my surprise, JO was part of the albertson family. The pharmacist at the counter was very helpful and was able to look me up and give me an emergency supply of medicine. So happy with this service and never felt more grateful. I also took a look around the store to see what was different from my local Vons/albertsons. I think I like how Jewel Osco is because the have different variety of ready food to food and desserts. I wish they opened one in San Diego! read more

One of the nicest Jewel food stores I've ever been in. Very clean, well organized, nicely laid out store. Great produce, nice deli section and bakery. This is the first Jewel food store that I've seen that had four aisles of seasonal items. Very friendly helpful staff. The isles are much wider than any other Jewel I've ever been in. Plenty of parking. Also a great floral shop with balloons, cards, etc. read more

Came there Saturday at 5pm and omg what a unhelpful lady behind the deli counter rude number one asked her what ham is on sale and she said I don't know look at the signs and it will tell you as I was waiting there a young gentleman came up and asked where the pizza dough is and she said I don't know look around who has someone working for you that is rude and no f helpful at all. I'll never come there again and she should be fired no knowledge whatsoever. Im sorry but that's uncalled for and makes the jewel standard look like shit. read more

Staff is ok sometimes.. sometimes they are just sitting there looking at their phones in the self checkout lines.. its a no wonder people steal so easily. and they never check if someone needs help mine looked to be an older lady just sitting there I asked for help but she just told me to ask someone else. no one seemed to bother to help me so I went to a cashier.,. Really bad jewel osco. I usually don't need help but the few times I do I don't get it or not even nicely either. read more

REDEMPTION SONG Management at this Jewel in Franklin Park were happy to hand out prizes at the end of 2019 Monopoly campaign. Over the last few weeks of playing the stupid-yet-addictive promotion, I've accumulated a ton of freebies for donuts, packets of gravy mix, canned fruit and too many others oddities to name. I probably spent $842 just to get $9 in goodies, but such is life. The woman at the customer service desk smiled and playfully cracked jokes as I redeemed a multitude of prizes, including a free 100ct of ziploc bags, a $15 fandango voucher, a $25 grocery gift card, and four free limes!!! I think I'm most excited about the free limes. Of the handful of times I've been here, at least twice someone has asked *ME* for help, no idea why. One such occasion was to assist a lady with #shortpeopleproblems by grabbing something from the top shelf. I'm tall-ish, so I didn't mind. The other instance, I was mistaken for a Jewel employee by some abuelita: "excuse me sonny boy, do you know where I can find the miralax?" "uhhhh, I don't work here grandma, but the item you seek is in aisle 12." "oh goodness gracious! well thank you, young man." I genuinely appreciate this Jewel, much moreso than the long lines and apathetic staff at the Winston Plaza location. Here, they're friendly and didn't bat an eye with all my random crap to cash in (including rolls of aluminum foil and a bottle of aspirin, which I need after punching in roughly 8 bazillion online codes....) read more

Ok here I go again, bucking the grain. Let me start off by saying that I am not discounting anyone's review of this store as I am sure they are genuine and heartfelt. That said, as a degreed chemist, I have a theory that I must be stepping into a rife in time and entering an alternate version of the store that my fellow Yelpers are reviewing. I have shopped here on several occasions, have ordered party trays from the deli and made two messes in the produce area that required clean-up. Everyone I met has been cordial and helpful. I have had people that have just walked up and spoken to me. The produce that I have purchased there has been fine, although I can't speak to all of it as I not purchased all varieties of it. The fruit that I have purchased has been fine. The party trays that I have ordered have been prepared on time and looked/tasted fine. The Queen loves the Mexican sodas, Jarritos, and they have a crap load of different flavors. I like that the aisles are wide, so even if someone stops to text, I can still get around them. Parking is not an issue and I have never had a problem with checking out. But to be fair, I have not gone during the hours that most people seem to be complaining about. Going back to the two messes I made in the produce section, twice I picked up a carton of cherry tomatoes and for some reason, the tops just came flying off and tomatoes went everywhere. And both times as I tried to pick them up, personnel came to clean up and told me not to worry about it. If I had a complaint, it would be the customers. There is not much you can do, but they are older, have a lot of coupons and move slow. I can't put that on Jewel, that is just the customer base. Overall, this is an ok store for me to do quick pick-ups to save me from having to go to the store after work. And now that I know about the long lines after 7 p.m., I will not be going there to shop at that time. read more

I have always really likedthe store. It is on my way home from work and very convenient. However, there is a woman that works in the deli that rarely wears gloves and is always very rude. I don't know her name, but she wears a bandanna around her head. I reported to the management twice and still, she's working with no gloves on. I brought it to her attention once, and she started arguing with me about it. I'll go elsewhere. read more

I've witnessed several disappointing experiences at the Franklin Park Jewel, primarily due to the store manager John Kozlowski. On multiple occasions, I've witnessed him acting out of control and irate with customers. He yells over people and doesn't allow them the chance to speak, which is completely unacceptable. His attitude even towards elderly customers, is particularly disturbing. A manager should create a welcoming environment, not one filled with intimidation and frustration. It's hard to believe someone like this is in charge. I can't recommend this location. read more

I'm not a customer, but I'll never buy anything from them. I'm truck driver. From the experience of delivery goods to them I'll will never again. Their organization is a mess. Their employees are rude, bitter, and too busy on their phones to be any help. They have no respect for themselves let alone a truck driver. The yard staff threatened and cussed me out. Probably because they hate their jobs and/or mis managed. I can just tell it's bloated money hungry company that won't last without some serious changes. read more

First off, let me be a meatball Chicagoan for a second. This place is known as JewelSSSS, with an "s", not "Jewel". Hah, "Jewel", psh. And while we're at it, I think filling the streets potholes with giardiniera would be more effective. Now that we got that out of the way, let me review. In my world (I think I have a new catch phrase), Jewels is good for certain things only. First off, I bank with TCF. For this reason alone, you'll find me at Jewels 2-3 times a week, making transactions or using the ATM. Feel free to stalk me, ladies. I don't do a whole lot of food shopping here, since non-sale items can be pricey. But once in a while, since it's close, I will pick up a "couple things". I don't know why I used quotation marks there. Don't we all say that before shopping? "I'm going to run to Jewels for a 'couple things"? Whatever. Another thing I like about this Jewels is the Fast Lanes aka self check out. Because a lot of old people shop here who are oblivious to "modern technology", they're almost always available to us that were born post the Civil War. Thus, I can get my "couple things" and be in & out like burger. Sorry for that random simile. I'm practicing for my rap career. Jewels usually has really good deals on POP (not soda). It's too bad giardiniera is my drink of choice these days. In fact, it's a drink and a meal! I also must stress that Jewels makes some damn good fried chicken in their cooked food section. On Mondays they have specials on that chicken. So it won't be just another manic Monday. Oh great. 80's music references now? The only thing I ask of you, good ol' Jewels in FP, is to please fix those damn security alarms that go off whenever I walk out with my Red Box DVD rental. I'm a bit tired of getting looks from 80 year old gringos like "By cracky! What did this Hispandex boy steal?" read more

So, looks like another problem with Jewel, this time the bakery. Now, it may not seem important to anyone else but when it comes to a birthday party for a 12 year old, some details need to be adhered too. On Wednesday we came in to order a sheet cake for our sons 12th birthdays. This is really simple, nothing special, chocolate cake, chocolate frosting & "Happy 12th Birthday Adam" in GREEN. Come Sunday at 3:00pm for pickup, the cake is done, only the lettering is in Blue. When told this, the lady in the bakery suggested we take another cake out of the freezer, only, there wasn't another available, when told there was no other cake like this we were asked "Well, why does he want it in green"?? It's really simple why he wanted it in green, it's his favorite color, that's why!! A real simple cake order & it wasn't done right, and no apology was made. The order even states green writing.......not good Jewel, may go somewhere else for next years cake. read more

I needed to pick up some things for my meals on the road and was pleasantly surprised. They have a nice organic section of fruits and veggies and even carry a certain brand of yogurt I enjoy. My hotel has outdoor grills for the guests to use and was happy to find that Jewel had salmon already seasoned. I got several pieces of the lemon pepper as I knew I would also be able to throw them in top of a side salad or salad without protein so I could keep my food bill lower. They turned out great. I picked up a couple of pieces of bacon to fry up, so I would use the grease to sauté my veggies. They too were also delish. I picked up two premade veggies - sliced Brussels sprouts with bacon and a leek, mushroom and red onion melody. I knew I could saute them both together with the bacon grease. I also picked up their stuffed portabello mushrooms to throw on the grill. The blueberries and pineapple I picked up were good. Yes, the raspberries were all molded but I looked into the containers and opted for the blueberries instead. The folks I encounter were all very nice. And the gentleman, I believe his name was Mike, who was restocking the yogurt area was very friendly Who says you can't eat healthy out on the road?!?! read more

Barely 1 star. I had rain check for a previous sale that they did not stock enough product for. Needless to say the cashier was unable to punch the correct price in. Rather than ask for help he decided to keep trying to get it right himself. Or 5 minutes I stood there silently not saying anything.Neither did the others in line as it was growing longer .They stood there silently not complaining. I finally asked him to start over. He tried to start over. And could not so then he decided to call someone over to help. They were able to rectify the problem right away. At no time did anyone say I'm sorry for having you wait or I'm sorry to the other people. They got my money I guess that's all that counts. In addition, I do not shop Jewel. I only shopped it because of the sale item and I had to go back because they didn't have enough. read more

If I could give this store a 0 I would! Saturday morning and you have 1 express lane and 1 regular open. The people in the express lane have clearly more than 15 items and the cashier says nothing. If you had one item, it was at least a ten minute wait to check out. Absolutely ridiculous! The prices are worse than the wait. Why one chicken breast is over $5 is beyond me. Ever since Meijer closed, this store has gotten worse. No competition makes Jewel think they can charge whatever they want and then call that $5 chicken breast a sale! While I want to like this store, they make it too hard to do that. read more

Dear Jewel-Osco.....I hate to say this,but...you are just not doing it for me any longer. You are over priced, poorly stocked and your weekly specials are just not that special. I have started seeing other stores. They have better prices, better products and they act like they care if I come back. You know I will come back,if only for the drugs( our prescription plan is through Osco...) We used to have something,but...you act like you do not care if we continue this relationship. This jewel is close to my home and often shop there when I need ingredients for baking. I don't really trust employees to know where anything is located. I was told they didn't sell frozen or canned artichoke hearts, green peas (they had the sweet kind) and other items, like strawberries. They don't have a wide selection of organic anything. I hate Jewel, I've been saying it for years and years! 1- expensive: I go to Tony's or Food For Less and get the same stuff for 50 cents to a 1$ cheaper. 2- Possibility the rudest staff I've ever encountered: speaks for itself, I asked where a certain type of cookie would be located, "Aisle 15" really? next to bleach? 3- Lack of variety. 4- CoinStar: they take about 10% of whatever you try to exchange. I didn't know this until I took my little sister to drop her change off. I also didn't know chase/other banks will do it for free sometimes. Honestly, you can save a lot more money by going to Food For Less on 25th and North. The only reason I don't give it 1 star is because I know a lot of people who work here and it is somewhat close to my house. read more

Your typical grocery store. Produce isn't great. They'll have berries on sale, but most times they have mold on the bottom. I've gotten a lot of expired items that I haven't seen until I got home. I know better now and make sure I check everything. You don't expect a frozen food item to be a year out of date. Their prices seem a bit high for the area, but the sales are good. The people there are nice and friendly and I have never had a bad experience with the workers there. They do stand by their word with mis-priced items, which is nice. If the shelf says one thing and the register something else. They go by the shelf price. No hassle no fuss. Pharmacy is great. The people there are so nice and helpful. I'm glad I switched to them. read more

Going in this store isn't usually a problem, although long lines and few registers are common. Tonight was no different, I took my coins to the coinstar machine and in past I've been told these can be used at the registers. Many times I've been told this. Now tonight waiting in line for ages and when I get to the register they tell me I have to go to the service desk, the person at the desk was far from nice with her sarcastic tone about having had to wait. If you have a policy then POST IT ON THE MACHINE! AND MAKE SURE YOUR EMPLOYEES KNOW THIS!! i cant count how many years i've done things this way and now this manager tells me its not done like that and very rudely too. There's plenty of parking. The store is always clean. I always find what I am looking for. This Jewel now carries a Red Box (movie rental) inside the store. It's open 24 hrs. I only have one complaint. I recently went to Jewel to return a movie from the Red Box (I rented the movie from a different place) and I was there trying to click on 'Return Movie' and it would not work. There were three workers from Jewel behind me talking and ringing up customers (young kids). I glanced at them a couple of times and no word from them. I finally asked about the Red Box and they said it was broken and there were going to put up a paper stating so. I was annoyed with them. They could have said something earlier. Otherwise, no complaints. read more

I do have to say - I'm not the main buyer of groceries in my household. Not in the least. Like... I don't even own a 'preferred card'. I went to Jewel this morning to get some fixin's for a dinner for my mom and I was blown away by the customer service. Not only to me, but to the 'usual' customers. Margaret in the Butcher shop helped me on my menu and pick out a nice pork roast for dinner in the slow cooker, she was extremely helpful and friendly - as if she was my aunt who knew that I wasn't all that great in the kitchen! In the check out line - Linda was extremely helpful and pleasant and she was saying hey to all the regulars, joking with them and having an all around fun time. It was really nice to see that happening. I know I really appreciate when people know my name and ask how I am doing and I'm pretty sure the regulars love it as well because they were hamming it up in the line. I live close-by, so dropping by during the week to pick up random stuff is convenient. However, Jewel has become very expensive. Their deli prices are outrageous and so are the produce prices. The preferred card savings don't even come close to what other places charge for similar items. It is easy to stop by Jewel for a few necessities and drop $100 at the register. Also, they have become very picky with coupons. Now, I drive down to Food4Less and save a lot of money on groceries. It's not as fancy, but who cares? I have also discovered that Caputo's on Grand/Harlem carries similar brands, has better produce, fresh baked bread, cheaper deli, a great salad bar AND is waaaaaaay cheaper.
