I wanted to take the time to highlight an employee Pat G in the meat department. I came to the store hoping to get some catfish and while looking for ingredients I had the pleasure of working with Pat G on yesterday's trip to the store. She explained the catfish options that the store had and she even took the time to share her personal tips on how ti prepare the food when I asked. The best part was she too the time to reference the other places in the store where I could find the needed items. Long story short, the meal came out great. I appreciate her for enthusiastically helping me. It's like she could tell I didn't have a clue. I would love to continue to have those experiences with her the next time I visit the meat department. Like its counterpart off the 87th & the Dan Ryan, this store is "underrated." The store is clean, the food well-stocked and on par with all area competitors and I have found the assistants in the self-checkout lanes to consistently be friendly and helpful. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I only go to 103rd and Kedzie now, but today I was pressed for time so I had to here. The one on 103rd has great customer service. Stony Island and 95th - DEPLORABLE! Shortly after moving south from Ravenswood I had the displeasure of going to this store. Even spoke with the store director. Well... things are still the same. Why is it that the Jewel stores in our black neighborhoods so poorly managed. This location and the one on 87th and the Dan Ryan have to be the WORST in the city. read more

Went to Jewel Osco at 7:00 am this morning. Courteous, Kind, Professional, Willing to Assist are just a few words I would use to describe the employees at Jewel Osco located at 95th & Stony Island. The store is clean and well stocked. I started at the deli counter where the lady thanked me for being a customer. Next was the butcher, fresh meat counter. Can't say enough complimentary things about the butcher. He treats his customers like they are all special and he's more than happy to assist. It's like you're at a meat market. Employees who are stocking items greet customers. My final contact was with the check out lady who smiled and said Good Morning. Customer Service is absolutely fantastic at this store. I highly recommend this Jewel Osco for the courteous employees who go out of their way to be helpful and kind. I also recommend this Jewel Osco for the well stocked shelves, cleanliness and overall appearance of the store. read more

I wanted to take the time to recognize an Margarita an employee who works on the Osco Drug side. Every time I come in unsure of an item or just don't know where an item is. She's always so accomodating and professional. She has a plesant smile and so friendly. If an item is out of stock, she always remind me to ask for a rain check for the next time, She makes shopping which would sometimes be an unmoving experience a trip worth taking. Stopped in to grab a few things. Overall store is clean & organized. Not crowded & plenty of things to choose from. No empty cashier stations either. Every single one was being manned & there were baggers at each one as well. They had the Monopoly on display, but I didn't receive any tickets or a board even though I spent over $200 so don't know whats going on there. read more

They need customer service training here. Was at the deli Sunday morning, it was pretty empty at 9AM. Was greeted with a frown and I quote, "You need something?" No good morning, may I help you, or nothing just a stank attitude as if I was bothering her. Date check everything you purchase at this store. I was preparing dinner and emptied the contents of this package. The coloring looked off. I went back to the package and noticed the BEST BY YEAR was 2018. I went back to the store and found that all the packages in the front were all past the Best By dates. I must say this is not my worst experience at this store. It's just the one experience that makes no sense. I stopped in this morning just after 7 am for coffee creamer and k-cups. I requested cash back ($20) and specifically asked for a 10, 5, 4 ones and 4 quarters. The cashier promptly stated that she had no quarters and the store gets coinage from the customers and it is dispensed through the coin machine. The coin machine is about 3 feet (give or take) from the cashier. We all know that all you have to do is lift the top of the coin holder and get the quarters. I would guess that would have taken too much time. read more

I'm always so embarrassed when it comes to taking pictures in the grocery store. I feel like people look at me like I'm a secret shopper or something! This grocery store is beautiful and I love the fact that they got rid of the loyalty card and even folks from out of town (like my wife) can get the in store discounts. The set up is really organized and this place is huge. It puts my local grocer to shame! Great accessible location. Can be a little pricey but the quality speaks for itself. I've gone here (not this location) for years. I used to be a Dominic's fan but Jewel has stepped it's game all the way up. I'm really glad we have one in my neighborhood. There are so many places that are food deserts that could benefit from a place like this nearby. My entire experience here has been positive. I really can't think of a negative. This Jewel Deli department, cashiers and baggers are very rude. They are not people person people. The Deli department do not know how to listen to their customers on what the customer wants. I do not appreciate give me more than what I ask for; a half of pound of Cole slaw means a half! I do not appreciate my chicken being dry out or torn-up pieces. Lastly, I do not appreciate the workers in the Deli department not fully wearing their face mask. The mask should be completely over the nose and mouth. This is terrible service! read more

I use to shop at Jewel-Osco more but the prices is what usually keep me away not the store, service or staff!! I do go though when I see a deal I just can't resist like the .25 a pound potatoes, or the .25 an ear corn...Which was all great and very good!!! I also come to the location to get some of my seasoning that I may not be able to find at other grocery stores like Food for Less or Save-a-lot!!! I shop at this Jewel quite often. I especially look for the tremendous sales they offer. They sometimes have in-store sales that are unbelievable. When I come upon these special in-store sales I immediately call family and friends to let them know. The store is clean and organized. The produce department offers a wide variety of fruits and vegetables that are not often found in neighborhood stores. The meat department is well stocked and of very good quality. Yes, the prices are a bit more but I can usually find what I am looking for. Fortunately, I have not come across any negative staff. The staff is pleasant and very cordial. So Jewels has the prepared chicken special on Mondays, it usually brings a lot of people out and into their stores for this. I can see that Covid has not stopped that. They have rude and unorganized people working this particular part of their deli section. I can understand that it can seem like a mob of anxious and sometimes impatient customers, but that is all the more reason to not match their rudeness and to have a system in place to deal with the inevitable mob of hungry customers, who by the way are not new, Jewels knows they will be there every Monday, why not have this as a separate section entirely and put extra workers here so the regular ones won't get overwhelmed and take it out on there customers. I left after a while during my visit, because I was on a schedule and it was clear that my order would not be filled within that time. Jewels has been around over a 100 years, you'd think fixing chicken would not be a problem for them. Secondly, I noticed while shopping around the store, because of course the chicken gets people in the store, but the idea is they will shop and buy more stuff. Brilliant, mess up frying chicken, so people buy a lot of stuff they were not intending, great sales psychology. Anyway, I noticed while walking down the freezer and refrigerated aisles, only half of many aisles had working refrigerators and freezers, leaving many products limited or not available at all. I have lived in this area for years, I remember when there was no Jewels here, I remember when we got this Jewels, how we were happy to have a decent place to grocery shop, never ever have I seen this store so bare and open despite having limited availability of products. It is shameful and disgusting to me during a pandemic where people are risking their lives to come out to grocery shop, and Jewels who has been in the business over 100 years, cannot provide them with a decent place to shop. Great and close grocery store to go to. Especially when I'm at lunch and want something fast they have a huge variety to choose from. The wings are the best if I say so myself. The only downfall is waiting in line to pay. They don't have enough cashiers and usually wait about 15 minutes but other than that love love this place!!! read more

I will never shop at this Jewels located on 95th and Stony island. The evening management lack professionalism. They are a joke. I waited at register for 10 minutes. When cashier arrived she said my light was off. She did not apologize for the wait and the manager backed her up stating, she had to go to the bathroom. When I go to the store to spend money, I expect propt service. This is my second bad experience with a cashier at this Jewels. Management need to get it together . read more

I generally go to Aldi on 95th street, but the lateness of the hour dictated that I go Jewel which is open a little later. Of course the food is a little pricey so would it be too much trouble to keep the sale items in stock or at least offer a rain check. When I got into the check out line, the first thing I noticed was the scowl on the very pretty young cashier's face. She asked the woman in front of me, "how are you" with a robotic voice and no facial expression and of course no eye contact. That was the last of the conversation until she asked, "you playing Monopoly", the woman said yes, and the cashier handed her the game tiles without at word. Now it was my turn. "How are you?" To which I responded fine, how are you? No response, she began checking my items with no interaction at all, as if I wasn't there. When she finished, I swiped my card. She never looked at me directly,"can I see your card and ID", she looked at the items then dropped them on the belt. "Sign there". Still in the robotic voice, and no eye contact. "You playing Monopoly?" I responded no ma'am. She turned and threw items that the bagger had not yet bagged and was on to the next customer. If I am going to spend $80 on three small bags of groceries, the least I can get is a smile and a thank you for coming. Can I help you with your bags, have a nice night....something. NEVER more than two cashiers available, and a LONG LINE for the only so-called express lane! Hire more cashiers, fire the ones who habitually don't show-up, open more registers when the lines are long! Managers should not be too high and mighty to roll up sleeves and work on a register if necessary. Last Monday afternoon, I witnessed very rude, disrespectful treatment of a customer at the deli counter, that showed lack of customer training amongst the three women working there. None of them had diplomacy skills to diffuse the situation by simply offering the customer the apology he asked for and deserved. After one verbally insulted him, all 3 acted as if he was invisible!! Employees duty is to ensure the customers have a good experience EVERY time they visit the store. Their rudeness and non-chalant attitudes ruined MY day! Management needs to tape and record the behavior of all employees who have customer contact and offer mandatory customer service training on a regular basis. They must remember that this location is used primarily by customers in automobiles...public transportation is very poor...we can easily drive to another store and by-pass this location! read more

Probably won't be going back there anymore. Today's event of bad service and attitude problems is the final straw that breaks the camel's back. The store is always clean and in a very convenient location but the prices are nothing to call home about. Even still a clean convenient store would have ensured my continual patronage. Unfortunately the attitude of entitlement and self importance that permeates the staff is no longer tolerable. In an age where jobs are precious I would think someone would be extra careful to keep their own. I am the lowest maintenance customer anyone will ever get. I don' need a greeter or free samples, parking isn't even high-up on my list. What I will not stand for however is being treated like I should be grateful to be shopping in a Jewel. The attitude that the store can "take you or leave you" has cost bigger moguls than Jewel-Osco dearly. I do not appreciate having a transaction repeatedly interrupted by individuals so that they can all discuss shopping at the local Wal-mart. I do not wish to hear all about whoever the associates are dating at the time or where they will be hanging out after work. I don't care about baby-daddy issues and I am most certainly not interested in viewing flirtations and multitudes of sexual harassment. If you are a fan of housewives of Atlanta this may be a great shopping experience for you. If you like your drama kept inside the television then skip this trip. The other main issue with this Jewel is that they have a gas station. A station with less than half the pumps working with the others having credit card machine issues no receipts no credit card acceptance in the store. Skip that also. I love to shop local because I know it is my very own neighbors who are employed by local businesses but paying premium prices for sub premium service is unacceptable. read more
