Jewel is an absolutely horrid grocer. The produce is gnatty, the employees stand at the strawberry counter, for example, pulling out molding fruit and popping in better looking ones from other containers. Once the mold starts, they are worthless in HOURS. I have NEVER gotten a decent cantaloup from them. MELONS DO NOT RIPEN AFTER HARVEST!!! They ROT. Their stone fruits spoil before becoming edible. Currently, 12 packs of Vernors, Dr Pepper etc. are "$11.99 each, buy 2 get one free," good grief who are you trying to trick? Take a stand for crying out loud. Be transparent instead of trying to be sneaky. The store appearance has declined greatly over the last 3 years. Freezers are leaking, ceiling leaks, and the ends of EVERY AISLE has so much CRAP stacked in temporary cardboard displays that only ONE cart can go through. One last thing HOW MUCH CLOTHING do you ACTUALLY SELL??? Why can't you JUST BE A GROCERY store? You are lousy at whatever you categorize yourself as currently. read more

I understand why everyone uses self checkout, there was a tall white girl with glasses who was hostile throwing items into the bags shoving to much into them and a black man who had his shirt inside out and on backwards scanning items multiple times not really in the right state of mind it seemed, scanning these items not sending the items to the girl and that's why she was so hostile. I told her i understand he's slow but is she always this hostile ? And she just smiled and started doing things more neatly . Take your anger outside of work and maintain a professional attitude. The prices are a little high, but if you have the For U Rewards you can add on and get more rewards. But, the reason why I rated a 2 star is the fried chicken at the deli. There were many times that I have gone there to buy fried chicken. My brother would buy 2 breasts, 2 wings and 2 legs for himself and our dad. Then, I would buy 6 fried chicken tenders. Not sure what is wrong, but they are always hard as a rock. My mom and I get 3 each and we are lucky to get 2 that are soft enough to eat. Jewel needs to make it so they are NOT so hard. Our family loves getting fried chicken from Jewel as long as I can remember. On Mondays, one can get a whole bird (8 pieces) for $5.99, which is a steal. Sure enough, when we got there by 11, they were ready with chicken. The ladies manning the counter was super nice, and we got exactly what we needed for the party (4 buckets of chicken, cole slaw, potato salad). This Jewel location was built in the past 20 years, and it has really withstand the test of time. It was custom built as a Jewel, with basically one big square, producing a real airy effect. It still looks modern, with good aisle space, and a large parking lot with plenty of handicap parking. This location also has a gas station. read more

Sorry Jewel, you have now become my 'I'll stop because it is convenient not because I like it store." There are so many issues at this store, that honestly, I am surprised it stays in business. 1. Produce is meh. Half the time it is rotten or will be rotten within a day or two of getting it home. I feel similar about the meat and seafood section. Linda (she works at the butcher section) even told me one time, "You know these shrimps are just the bagged ones from the frozen section that we cut open and put out." I even saw her do it! Why would I pay for that?? 2. One check out line open on a Monday at 11am? Seriously, there were 7 people waiting in the line. Someone behind me kept yelling to open another register. It took about 10 minutes before anyone came to open up another register. Also, a HUGE pet peeve of mine- the cashier should offer for the next person in line to be first. This person just said 'open' and people went a running towards it. 3. Something is seriously wrong with the morale of the employees. The ONLY employee that has ever been kind to me is the produce manager. He always has a smile and talks with everyone. I enjoy seeing him when I am there. As for everyone else... well, the story is quite the opposite. Every time I check out, the employees are bad mouthing the store. They are complaining about not getting breaks, not getting out on time, and how much they hate working there. This is NOT acceptable. Way to make customers feel totally uncomfortable. Why does management let this happen? I love supporting Bartlett business. Unless things drastically change, I will not be coming here anymore unless I have to. Too bad. read more

Yay for Jewel in Bartlett! You saved the day!!! After leaving the Streamwood Jewel, I still needed the Old World Rye Bread for spinach dip that I was bringing to a party tonight. I called this location near my home and spoke with Mary in the Bake Shop. You could tell that it was busy, but she agreed to check for the bread. She had one left and happily agreed to set it aside for me to pick up shortly. Fifteen minutes later, I head in to pick up my bread. ...I am trying to think of how to type the noise for the clouds parting and the sun shining through brightly... I was thrilled to have Mary hand me my bread with a smile. I asked if there was any more - even sliced? And she walked around to find their rye which is the same thing in a different shape and presented a fresh loaf to me. It was perfect. After a brief, pleasant conversation, I headed to the front, used the self-checkout without a wait and was ready to leave moments later. This is just one of many positive experiences at this particular Jewel. Prompt. Friendly. Clean. It's a great store. Overall, Jewel usually always has the highest prices, but they have the best selection and the special items that I need. read more

Cashiers are great but whoever manages stocking the shelves needs serious training. So many times sale signs are misplaced under the wrong product. Or if they run out of a sale product they just fill the shelf space with something else but leave the sale sign up. Other times products don't match the label below them, so you have to search to figure out which price belongs to which product. And they don't seem to care when I point it out to them. read more

This is by far the worst grocery store. I purchased a 1.5 lb package of ground beef on 11/20/21, nice and fresh looking. Tonight, 11/21/21/, opened it up to discover the "meat" on the interior was brown. It's like they put fresh ground beef around old and sold it for new. Another word of caution - be sure to check the use by dates on everything. They leave out of date products on their shelves. Produce is the worst. read more

I don't normally post reviews but the customer service in this place has officially gone to s*** for me. Last Saturday we placed an order for two 11lb prime rib roasts got to the location and they wanted to sub for 1 6lb roast so I went to customer service to just ask what exactly they were trying to sub for the roast and was told to just decline it because they don't have it and the person working the customer service desk was very rude about it. Which ticked me off but whatever. so I decided to go look at the meat section to see what they had and low and behold they had about 5 roasts all about 7lbs a piece in the rack so I proceeded over to the butcher and politely asked if they had any larger roasts in the back I said I had already looked at what they had out. The butcher then proceeded too cuss at me and slam the door open to the back. My wife and two small children standing next to me during this I then looked at my wife and tell here we're done here. As we were walking away the butcher rolled a cart out of the back filled with rib roasts about 5 ft tall. I have been going to this jewel for around 15years and worked there when I was in high school I will never go back to this s***hole again and recommend anyone else to find a new place to grocery shop in Bartlett. read more

The staff is generally helpful and pleasant. Aside from that, this store has been on a steady downward trend for several years. It's very common to get produce that's already going bad, and in the last two weeks we've bought two half gallons of milk that turned sour in less than 5 days...both times well before the expiration. We've started going to Target and Aldi for groceries as much as possible. read more

Pretty grossed out and disappointed today. Ran to Jewel to grab a couple items for breakfast for my family. I was rushing so I wasn't being very mindful of checking the expiration date on my daughter's yogurt (stoneyfield kids). When I got home I checked it before putting it the fridge. The date was November 18, today is the 30th. My husband went to return he went back to check if there were any that were not expired. He found ones dated back to October. I ordered a special graduation cake from Jewel. I was happy with the result. The salesperson did not try to "upsale" me on the size of the cake. In fact, she assured my that the size I originally ordered would be more than appropriate. It was. Second, the cake which has an oreo butter crème center, was absolutely delicious and the cost was reasonable. I always thought that I would need an independent baker for a top-notch cake. I'm done playing produce roulette with this store, their produce selection sucks anyways and when they have produce it's either being sold rotten or it's so close that you get it home and it goes bad within 1-2 days. The staff are fine, the selection of dry goods is great. They replaced the self serve kiosks with people which is annoying (customers complained that they "take away jobs" which no, they don't but I get why Jewel changed. Not their fault people are dumb) but since they normally have 2 people it goes by pretty fast. Maybe they will get their act together but for now I'm done wasting my money at this store. read more

The staff at the Bartlett Jewel are all very friendly and helpful. If it weren't for them, this would definitely be a 1 star review from me. This store is fine if you're looking for any potato chip ever made, or every flavor of Paul Newman's salad dressing, or 500 different types of bottled water but it's sorely lacking in the produce department and the bakery, which should be the cornerstone of any neighborhood grocery store. Yes, it seems that they do bake some products in house, but why bother when the quality is so poor? Their produce is usually pretty fresh but unfortunately there's rarely any variety, and the prices are on par with Mariano's without the massive selection. The aisles are poorly organized and, especially if you're there when it's busy, beware of the aisle that runs perpendicular to the rest! It's begging for some cart on cart collisions. Also, this is probably just a pet peeve of mine, but the angled parking spaces in the lot just seem to make for a lot of congestion and confusion. I would skip this place, drive a few miles east and stop by Caputo's instead. read more

This is the best grocery shop I have ever been to. Jewel-Osco is really a hidden gem in this area of Bartlett. You can find anything you need here, useful stuff, and all the things that we need for daily essentials. This place is well-maintained, organized, and decent. Their items are perfectly aligned and with that the customers can easily get what they are looking for because the items are well-sorted. This place is really awesome. The ambiance inside hits really different. While you are doing  shopping you can also relax and enjoy the whole place. The first time I visited this place was when me and my cousins were going for a jogging and right after the jogging we decided to buy some stuff and important things in this wonderful shop. I bought so many things for home, food, essentials, and we also bought some beer for us to drink when we get home. Their store is literally complete and perfect. They have everything we need. I am really impressed how organized the place is inside. Very welcoming and amazing. Their staff here is helpful, friendly, and attentive. Once you need assistance or you have something to ask, they will come to you right away, and they are always willing to help and guide the customers around the area. You can easily find the things you need because they will give you directions and guide you. They are very kind. All of them are working so fast, the staff, cashiers, managers, and others. You can check out so easily because they work really quick. Jewel-Osco's customer service is top-notch. Everyone at this place can really make your experience so much better. This Jewel is ...meh. The staff are constantly on break, and many have very obvious bad attitudes. I went to the pharmacy to help with an ailment today. There were customers waiting while 3 of 4 staff there were helping people. One girl literally hid from us, while the others worked their butts off. A blonde lady helped me (didn't get her name), and was very knowledgable. It feels like some of the staff are making it awful for the rest. Say goodbye to them before the store closes. I know it's just a grocery job for some of these kids, but WHAT DO YOU WANT? YOU'RE 18!! Good luck in the real world! read more

The store has been declining in recent years and the service desk is sometimes terrible. The younger members of the staff are great including "Bella" who did a terrific job helping my Mom at the flower counter. However, some of the older ladies were down right rude and snapped at my Mom (who IS in a Federally protected age category). Not sure why but Mom got the "message" and won't be returning. Caputo's Market is a great alternative and so is Whole Foods where no one has ever talked mean to my Mom ;-( So Adios amigos ! Not coming back. read more

I brought a prescription for diabetic supplies that was hand-written by my doctor, and endocrinologist, to the pharmacy. (Before I left his office, I specifically asked if all the necessary billing information was written on the prescription. He assured me that he writes this type of prescription frequently and all the information was correct.) First, the pharmacist said my doctor did not write the directions on the prescription - he did. Then the RPh said the hand-written Rx was NOT sufficient and that the federal government required the information be written a special form developed at Osco - they don't. I spoke with the store manager who contacted her boss. The Rx mgr. claimed to be a pharmacist and said she never in her life saw a hand-written prescription. The store manager also commented that my doctor's office happens to be closed on Wednesdays and suggested that my doctor should be open on Wednesdays take off on weekends. My daughter happens to be a physician. She tells me the law REQUIRES HER TO HAND-WRITE this type of prescription. RPh - outright lied or incompetent; RPh mgr - outright lied or incompetent. I left and went to Walgreen's where my original Rx was filled in a few minutes with zero hassle AND ALMOST NO CHARGE AT ALL. No extra form was required. All the necessary information had already been written on the original Rx by my doctor, as my daughter stated she also does in her practice according to federal law requirements. I returned to Osco and showed the store manager the bag of supplies that I had just received at Walgreen's hassle-free. His attitude was one of indifference. It did not matter to him that his customer was being lied to and, mostly, that his customer was being inconvenienced by two women who have no idea what they are doing and showed no willingness to learn what they might be doing wrong. It won't happen to me again. Diabetes can be a deadly disease and patients need providers who know clearly about all aspects of disease treatment. These two amounted to overpaid pill counters with little knowledge of this disease state. If you have diabetes, one of the most common diseases in America, Osco CLEARLY is incapable to satisfy your pharmacy needs. My daughter will be steering her patients to pharmacists' who are knowledgeable and engaged as partners in healthcare. After this experience, I wouldn't trust these pharmacists with any of my healthcare or that of my family and friends. read more

Is it me or Jewel's produce and meat have been fresher since Dominique's closed? I went to jewel last week (first time in probably 8 months), some of their beef cuts are comparable to Costco's. Their produce are not as fresh as the farmer's market down the street. read more
