Holy Moly Jet's Pizza is sooooo goood. Via 313 introduced me to Detroit Style Pizza and it has quickly become my favorite. Jet's Delivers some amazing Detroit Style goodness and has become my new go to for take out. There are so many crust options at Jet's it would take a while and a few notches on my belt to try to them all. The thing is I cant bring myself to order anything other than the Detroit Style Deep Dish. The cheese Jet's uses is also amazing. Not sure what the deal is with it but its super tasty and they cover the pizza in copious amounts of it. The sauce at Jet's is also light and not overly acidic. I cant recommend Jet's enough! They have an amazing product that you wont regret giving a try. read more

I have genuinely never come across a more confusing purchasing system/method. It's not consistent across all forms (site, mobile, text, call). The texting service is unclear and not build out well enough. The person I spoke to today on the phone about it wasn't great at customer service and seemed bothered. With delivery + tip fees, the costs almost increase 50%. They need to streamline this process and make it way easier and more clear. When I moved here from St. Louis I was so sad to leave Jet's pizza behind, and to my absolute happiness Austin has a location! Jet's is Detroit style pizza - kind of deep dish like if a Chicago pie were made in a rectangle with a little less cheese. My favorite way to order it is triple pepperoni 8 corner (meaning 8 huge thick slices of pizza) made with turbo crust (Parmesan, butter, and garlic) cooked well done and an order of plain cheese bread. The slices are so thick and huge we freeze the other half for later in the week and it warms up nicely in the oven. The only thing I don't like are the wings- both boneless and bone in. They are baked and sometimes a bit mushy so I always skip those unfortunately. I also think this is a good substitute for VIA 313, especially because Jet's delivers! read more

I ordered two XL pizzas for my brother's bday this week. We like deep dish and another local establishment rhymes with " schmia schmee one schmee" is usually a crowd favorite...not anymore!!! We ordered an XL half pepperoni/half cheese and an XL pepperoni, mushroom, jalapeños. The pizzas were ready on time and fed the army I was bringing it to. There were five adults and three 16 year old boys. It was a perfect amount. There were five pieces left out of the 30 we started with in the box. Jets is fantastic. Jet's moved into Rocking Tomato's old location next to Kerby Lane on South Lamar. Deep dish or thick breaded pizza main dishes. The options are plenty. Toppings plentiful. Marinara sauce excellent, lots of big chunks of mozzarella. I would recommend a longer bake because on our hand tossed super dough veggie, the veggies we're soft but a bit too aldente for me. The staff were friendly, helpful and fast. THE biggest thing to me was that... None of the staff wore masks. Austin is currently in a Stage 5 Covid outbreak. The pizza here is pretty tasty. It could maybe use a little more sauce, or possibly a side of marinara for dipping, but overall tasty. People call it "deep dish", but don't confuse it with Chicago-style deep dish. It's actually what other places refer to as Detroit-style. This means it's a thick crust with regular sauce and toppings. The crust is cooked in pans that crisp the outer edges of the crust and Jet's offers a variety of flavored crusts. I've only had plain, but the crust on this and other Detroit-style places is what sets this pizza apart. We got a small side salad with our last order and it was actually a pretty large small. How did we just discover this place?! We took a chance and ordered from someplace new, and we're both so happy we did :-) I ordered a special gluten-free crust with sausage and mushrooms, and the man got his regular meaty offering with the garlic infused crust. SO GOOD. I mean everything. The gluten free crust was just enough chewy and crispy in all the right places. The toppings were grade A- I get why they don't have an enormous array of toppings to choose from- they have fewer options, and offer the best across the board. I usually go to Via 313 for Detroit style pizza in Austin.. I probably won't anymore. Jets pizza is delicious and very affordable. I ordered from their hot deals section brought a large and two small pizzas for $33. At via 313 I would've paid $50 or more.. It's Detroit style pizza they are known for. They have other options but I've never gotten anything else because the Detroit style is pretty perfect. The way the cheese goes all the way to edge and gets a little crispy sometimes with the crust... it's delicious and making my mouth water as I type. They offer specials and coupons too. My family and I popped in for an in store pick up the other night and got a one topping deep dish and an order of wings for $20. Not a bad deal at all! That was nice but the bumper sticker... "I heart my dad" Backstory my father left when I was 13 and since then has become a "deadliest catch" star. He left and then made millions. You can't comprehend the pain I went through and now you rub it in my face. You maybe hot but your lack of a bad father figure is, frankly, disheartening. As a former Australian, I know a good pizza when I see one, this was mediocre and too oily. Once my father left I had to find pleasure in other things, which includes cooking. What a terrific surprise! I recently moved to south Austin and I've been scouting out local purveyors of my favorite foods when I came across an offer to try Jet's Detroit-style deep dish pizza that was too good to ignore despite the fact that I'm an old Jersey boy with a penchant for NY/NJ style pie over all others. Truth is I never heard of Detroit-style pizza before but like they say "the brochure looks good" so I decided to give a go. First of all the staff was friendly and courteous and seemed eager to answer my questions and I liked their answers. The proof, as they say, is in the pizza and I'm here to tell ya, that's some really tasty pie! The deal was for a large 1-topping deep-dish pizza so I went with my default topping - Italian sausage. I perused the menu while they prepared and baked my pie and I was pleased to see four different crust styles utilizing two different types of dough - one for the square deep-dish and another for the round hand-tossed, thin-crust and a NY style which is basically in-between the hand-tossed and thin crust styles (I look forward to trying this out soon). My Yelp followers know I'm keen on good value for my $$ and I am happy to report that their prices are modest - somewhere between the more common chains and the speciality shops who make good pie that can cost a good bit of cash. This is a plus. They have plenty of variety - the usual toppings for their pies plus some good lookin' sammiches and chicken wings but the #1 draw is this deep-dish pizza for sure. It's really tasty (even reheated), with a slightly sweet tomato sauce and a hefty amount of real mozzarella completely covering the pie with plenty of savory sausage on top. The pie was slightly crunchy on the bottom and the rest of the crust was not as dense as I expected, which is good. This is a very good, well-balanced pizza baked just right and plenty of it to boot. I got three good meals out of my large pie and I'm a big boy, many of you will get to enjoy your pizza longer. As always, reheat your pizza in a covered frying pan or small oven for maximum taste and texture, never in a microwave. That's a tip from your uncle Jeffty. I never expected to find such an enjoyable and good "bang-for-the-buck" pizza in this little strip mall shop on south Brodie lane but I gotta admit I simply enjoyed this pizza more than any other I've had in a long time. I know that we have a few options in SW Austin, however we have become big fans of Jet's Pizza. Even more so now we are all huddled down in the Covid World. They deliver and for that, there isn't any better for us. The first time we got a delivery, we got a squirty bottle full of Ranch Dressing. Ok.. that was new. It was also quite tasty and took us about a week to get through it! The pizza is lovely. Great ingredients and choices. Many options as well as pizza, like sammy's, salads and wings and such. Even with the pizzas, there are thin, Detroit and NY styles. Round, Square, Cauliflower and Gluten Free if that is your bag. Although the other Detroit style in town is the darling of Austin, these guys do an excellent job as well and frankly with the multiple options available this has been our go to for awhile. I have no idea why it took us so long to check them out. I also happen to getting the wings as well. Our personal favorite is the 8 corner all meaty. Well that is mine, we usually half it with another choice. Being a past Conan's pizza maker for a few years, we are talking late 70's here, I lived on Conan's pizza. My sister in Australia used an app to order me a pizza. Apparently she asked for them to do something special. Wow, used to get delivery for years, but today's experience just ruined it all. Ordered 5 pizzas and 3 breadsticks for a pool pizza party. The kid's large cheese one came clearly burnt. We called and asked for another one and 45 minutes later someone came to deliver it. We were in the pool. So didn't hear them ring, but also figured they'd leave it on the porch like always. Instead. The delivery guy "George" took it back with him. Next morning my wife calls to get a refund and they said no because they rang the doorbell, called and text and we didn't answer (because we were in the pool). The employee said it was the owner who delivered it, so we text them back to see what the issue was. They then told me I lied and why would I contact them 12 hours later? After texting with the "owner" for awhile to figure out what happened. He said it wouldn't have happened if we answered the door, I said it wouldn't have happened if you didn't deliver a clearly burnt pizza. they gave me a credit instead of a refund and told me to stop "blowing up his phone." - nice, Jet's just lost a long time customer over $20. read more

I'm going to go ahead and give a 4. In truth, probably a 3, if comparing to the current trailer pizza darling Via 313. Most of the 4 star grade from me is that it's just plain different from the other chains out there right now. And the service was friendly. It's difficult to enter traveling south on Brodie. And it's difficult to exit and travel south again. The deep dish Detroit style is reminiscent of early Little Caesars. That's pretty cool. But the sauce or cheese or something needs a little more zing in this day and age. Our palates have matured. Or maybe our taste buds have been killed off. Maybe adding extra sauce will do it for me. I liked the crunchy crust. How will it stand up cold tomorrow morning for breakfast? Wings are basic pizza restaurant frozen wings cooked in the oven. Nothing special. The dipping bleu cheese dressing came in a small bag rather than a dipping style cup most places do it. I found that a bit odd. I'll return and happily try the 8 corner deep dish with a couple of new toppings or maybe a specialty. That's two small deep dish cut into 4 pieces each. So 8 corners. I will also be trying the bacon bread sticks. They aren't unseating Via 313 for Detroit pizza champs. But they might just be a nice alternative to nasty Dominoes and Pizza Hut.
