Make up class! Woop! I'm such a sucker for all things girlie. One of my fav gal pals got a…read moreGroupon/Living Social thing for a make-up class.,..Score! Anywho, upon first glance of the location, I was not excited. Small brown building right on Harford Road. The building was rather difficult to find from the road, there wasn't any signage that I could see. The parking is in the back of the building, off of Emerald Avenue, you need a parking pass. Chandler will provide this.... If not, there is metered parking in the front. To get to her studio from the parking lot, walk towards the front, there is a small set of steps leading up to a doorway, it is upstairs. If you go to the sidewalk, you have gone too far!! Inside was so cute! Chandeliers, cute chairs, tables, cookies (yummo btw) and a place for us to sit, with our own individual make-up, mirror, and folder to jot notes. Now initially I was a little skeptical, as I had never heard of the makeup that she used, and I was concerned weather she would be able to help me, due to my skin tone and what she had out that was displayed. More often than not, I go to these make-up classes with too light or too dark foundation, and that is not thee business. I was so wrong with my assumption, I learned that no, you don't have to spend tons in order to look fab! Woop! Considering that I am a frugal Fannie, this works especially well for me. The class was pretty amazing, Chandler is an excellent teacher, she broke everything down, and taught me new ways to apply make-up. She was totally knowledgeable about my skin tone, and created a perfect concealer and foundation match. Also, she had some really ahmazing products that we tried by Naked Princess, (amazing lipgloss and sugar scub) and a body glitter by a company in B-More. I loved them, she sells them, I brought them! Score! We also got a gift card for a future service. Bottom line, don't judge a book by its cover, my bourgeois self just learned an awesome lesson. I will definitely be going back, because Chandler taught me a thing or two.

Definitely a diamond in the rough. I was a little skeptical when we pulled up because I didn't see…read morethe entrance. I did see the sign so I knew we were in the right place.....so I decided to call the owner and she met us and guided us upstairs. So freaking cute! The colors, the layout, the refreshments, the decor was amazing! Chandler and Tammy are the owners of this wonderful establishment. They are the sweetest! I purchased a Living Social deal for The Makeup Lounge which included a makeup session for 6 friends and light refreshments. Usually a session like this is $500, but Living Social had a steal for $69! SOLLLLD! We had sooooo much fun!!!! I love a makeup artist that can use drug store makeup and look amazing! You meet or see so many makeup artists that expect you to pay ridiculous prices for makeup that makes your skin look fake and feel heavy. No thanks, I'll pass. Not these ladies, we used products that we could purchase at our local drug or beauty store. They walked us through step by step how to apply concealer, foundation, finishing face powder, blush, bronzer, highlighter, primer anddddd how to sexay up our eyes. So much fun, and I'm sure with lots of practice, the RIGHT way, I'll become a master. The Makeup Lounge was an awesome way to spend the day with my girlfriends. A great place to learn makeup techniques, have a birthday party, a kid's party, or have your wedding day makeup done. Check them out! You will not regret it. What's the saying...."Don't judge a book by it's cover"....definitely don't! We will definitely return again! Thanks ladies! You all were awesome!

I would give A-List beauty no stars if I could. I hired them for hair and makeup for my wedding…read more The trial could not have gone worse. It. Was. A. Joke. A lot of these places have you pay a significant amount of money to do a trial (like $500) because it creates a psychological motivation to continue to do business with them (the sunk cost fallacy). Ladies do not be victim to this- even if you paid $500 and the trial goes poorly, do not give them more money! I paid the non refundable deposit to Ariel Lewis, and gladly paid another company $1,500 just to not look (and more importantly FEEL) like I did after my trial with A-List. The other company was professional, kind, used actual beauty products (see below), let me watch what they were doing, and were friendly. Find a company that works with you for your big day. Not works you for the paycheck. Hopefully this will save you the $500 trial with A-List: Let's start with hair. The biggest red flag was that she wouldn't let me watch while she was doing my hair so that I could be "surprised" - I was surprised all right. She admitted to me she had not looked at the inspo pics they asked me to send in, and asked to see them. She looked at the first one and said "K I got it." She didn't have it, because what was created was a departure from my looks. It wasn't a terrible style if it had been done well. I mentioned concern about the longevity of the look day of, and she said confidently it would last even though I could feel the pins slipping. I said repeatedly my hair texture is fine and doesn't hold curl. She said "Not the way I curl" and then put wax in it to "help." Everyone with fine hair knows wax weighs it down. It did not last. Not even through 90 min minutes of sitting still and getting makeup done (much less a whole wedding...). My trial was done at 11:30am and by 1:30pm my hair had fallen out of the bun into the two sad looped pony tails she had used to create the look, and was in straight tendrils around my face. Not a curl in sight. Even the initial finished looked was frizzy and you could obviously see pins. The best part was that the A-List makeup trial was after hair and she came in and asked "what time my hair trial was?" hahah. "Oh you couldn't tell it just happened? Your teammate just gave me an updo, obviously!" Lol Next was makeup. Ladies. They used E.L.F products. Correct- the products you buy for your nieces and occasionally find at the dollar store. I get it, this isn't the main event, it's just the trial so maybe they use different products day of? If so, that negates the purpose of the trial... I want to have my shades matched and confirmed which is part of the trial one would think. I paid for airbrush makeup- she did zero prep the skin. She pulled the machine out and started spraying- didn't even pin my face framing hair pieces back so there was a distinct line not blended around my face where my hair had been. The airbrush went on cakey and flakey and actually aged me about 10 years. It's not for every skin type so that's part of it, but at least try and prep the skin. I sent Hailey Bieber natural dewey inspo and she did old church lady rosy pink cheeks I am not kidding. Bright. Pink. And round. I looked like a toy soldier, even after I asked her to keep blending. The whole thing was a joke. It also didn't last despite paying for airbrush- which I was grateful for because I would not have gone out looking like that. When I reached out to Ariel Lewis to tell them I would not be using them for my wedding and talk about how disappointed I was, I was intercepted by an admin. Interestingly, I didn't ask for a refund but the very first thing the admin said when I said I wouldn't be moving forward was that I wouldn't get a refund. This exchange told me a lot about how they do business and their priorities. I asked to speak to Ariel to provide feedback. I never heard from her. Guess it's on me to keep reaching out? I was then told I could do the trial again with the same artists. Nah I'm good... If it were my business with my name on it- I would be embarrassed by this. Pics below of hair. I didn't want my face out there on the internet so I didn't post makeup. So- ladies, save yourself the money with A-List. Unless you want a good laugh- My Maid of Honor was there and we still get out the "after" pictures so we can have a good chuckle over wine. I hope this saves another bride the stress and money I wasted on the A-List.

Very POOR Customer Service. Extremely POOR communication. Why does a company refuse to list itself…read moreon Google? So they can avoid all the negative reviews. So it's not a surprise that A-List has no Google listing and minimal reviews available... do the math. It doesn't add up to a reliable and professionally behaving company.
