Terrible experience, unfortunately. I've struggled with whether or not to write a review and have landed on helping others avoid having to confront a similar situation. Dr. Fleishman was brusque and rough with me, hurting my eyes while demonstrating how to use a lid scrub and unresponsive when I said my eyes were stinging badly in the process. ("There's a reason it's called a SCRUB," she said, although any on-line demonstration and/or instruction from other doctors suggests a very gentle approach. I felt myself in the position of having to manage this doctor, get the renewal prescription for dry eye I needed at the time, and never book another appointment. And, yes, a long wait before all of this. Months later, when I needed a prescription refill - Dr. Fleishman had included several refills when she prescribed - I could not get any help ie simply have the office contact my pharmacy to ok the refill as is the norm. Having called and texted the number offered on the website (which is her receptionist's cell number) many, many times, I had no other option than to go to another ophthalmologist and start the process all over again. I've never encountered anything like this and recommend avoiding Dr. Fleishman altogether. read more

While I'm sure Dr. Fleishman is perfectly nice, I did not see her. After 45 minutes of waiting (plus the 15 minutes I spent there having arrived early) I'd had enough. I asked for my copay back, and they graciously complied. However the woman at the front desk told me that 'the total appointment time to see a specialist is two hours'. Nobody notified me of this two hour appointment time, nobody apologized to me for waiting in any way. I have seen many eye doctors in the past and have NEVER needed two hours, or even anything close to that. I call BS. I saw Dr. Fleishman for Lasik. She was very pleasant and professional. After a brief chat and a quick look at my eyes we went into surgery. Dr. Fleishman had a confident and kind demeanor throughout the procedure. Surgery took about 10 minutes, and the entire trip to the office was about an hour. It's been three days since the surgery and I now have better than 20/20 vision. read more

I couldn't be more happy. I moved to Brooklyn 2 months ago and suddenly had an eye-mergency this week when I got an eye infection that wouldn't go away despite two trips to urgent care. In a panic I chose the nearest eye doctor on Yelp. I quickly made an appointment through Zoc Doc for that same morning and headed over. I will say that I had a long wait (30 minutes from when I walked in, admittedly 10 minutes prior to my appointment start time) but I'm pretty used to that with doctors and I brought a book. When I got in to see the doctor I realized why I had waited so long. Dr. Fleishman takes her time, listens to all concerns, answers all questions, and covers all her bases. It was nice not to be rushed out by a doctor who clearly was only interested in taking as many people as possible in a day. I have been to Dr. Fleishman's office several times to deal with my styes. Not only was she able to squeeze me in last minute when I thought there was no way that I could get an appointment on short notice, but she was also extremely nice and thorough. I have seen one other doctor once about the same issue, but did not feel nearly as well cared for or comfortable. And while the wait time can be a bit long sometimes, feeling confident in my physician is the most important thing for me. Other times, there was almost no wait. Some observations about Doctor's in general: A Doctor who goes out of the way to get you healthy and look out for your well-being is a Doctor that is an A+ in my book. However, a Doctor who tries to sell a product during an exam inherently loses credibility in their diagnosis and treatment. When credibility is lost, it's hard to trust that a Doctor is really looking out for your well-being. I am offering no specific opinion on this Doctor, so you will have to go and judge for yourself on what you think. read more

This place is garbage... I scheduled an appointment for a routine eye exam. Multiple times before my appointment I called to ask roughly how much it was going to cost. I always got some made-up excuse like "we called your insurance and they said your info doesn't match so we can't tell you". I eventually conference called them and my insurance company to which they replied "oh, I just called them and they said it does match now... but we still don't know what your appointment might cost". I gave up and decided to go anyway (big mistake) Once I finally got there, I waited for over an hour with no sign of anyone coming in or out. Eventually I asked how much longer it would be to which they replied "oh, our system just crashed." I asked if I'd have to wait more than 20 minutes longer to which they said yes. I eventually had to go back to work and wasted an hour and a half at this place. Save your breath and go somewhere else. read more

Yes, the office is new and spotless, they have lots of fancy equipment, and the support staff is nice, but I will never come here again. Here is why: -The wait time is ridiculous. I was there for almost three hours for to get an updated prescriptions for my glasses. -The support staff person who tested the pressure in my eyeball could not get the machine to work, and her hand shook the whole time. The eye tests performed by other support staff were not much better, as no one seemed to understand how to use the machines. I am not sure if anyone there besides Dr. Fleishman had any sort of medical or technical training. They were all nice, but when dealing with things touching or shining bright lights in my eyes, I would rather have professional and skilled than nice. -I told Dr. Fleishman that I was there for an updated prescription for glasses. When I finally saw her, after two hours of waiting and testing, she rushed through my eye exam, saying, "Perfect!" even though I still couldn't read all of the letters on the screen. -I soon found out why she rushed - after the exam she told me she thought laser eye surgery was my best option. I had specifically told her I was there for glasses, I had never mentioned surgery, and when I told her it was NOT an option for me she seemed taken aback, kept pushing until I made it clear that I was not going to get surgery. -At the end of the appointment you can pay for the prescription and take it with you to have glasses made. I left without it, as I have zero confidence that it is accurate. I'll be going someplace else to have my eye exam done all over again. read more

I went to see Dr. Fleishman several years back and had a pretty negative experience. First I was made to reschedule my appointment, which I really didn't want to do because I had family visiting. I was assured the visit would only take 30 minutes so conceded to rescheduling. Instead the visit took two hours and was mainly filled with meaningless tests meant to buy time until the doctor was actually available to see me. Once the doctor finally saw me, she just spent the whole visit trying to sell me on lasik and then just rewrote the same prescription I had from before (and charged me $50 for a "new" prescription). As a result, I walked around wearing the wrong prescription for over a year (my eye sight had worsened but she hadn't bothered taking that into account when writing my prescription). I would not recommend going to this doctors office. read more

I left my ophthalmologist of almost 20 years for Dr. Fleishman's Brooklyn office, due to location. This was a mistake. Although I found the doctor to be thorough, spending a good amount of time diagnosing and discussing care, her support staff was beyond difficult. Unnecessarily so. You may want to consider another doctor, not because of her, she seems quite capable, but because of her staff. If dealing with a rude and disrespectful support staff is half or more of your medical experience with Dr. Fleishman and her office, then frankly, it's just not worth it. Lets face it, you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. I will definitely be returning to Dr. Maria Arnett in Manhattan, she's phenomenal (and so is her staff). read more

Friendly enough staff but a simple eye exam took almost 2 hours, most of it waiting. The practice also keeps a television blaring infomercials for eye surgery and other products in the waiting room, which makes the wait all the more unpleasant. I was hesitant about going through with LASIK, but after my consult, meeting everyone at the center, and asking tons of questions, I decided to go ahead with the surgery. The procedure was quick and everyone was professional and helpful throughout the process. My eyes watered a lot and stung for a few hours afterwards (definitely go right home for a nap), and after I woke up, everything was back to normal...but no glasses! Definitely come in. Plus, there are several no interest / low interest payment plans available, and several other discounts available. read more

Great eye doctor! I hadn't been to an ophthalmologist in a long, long time and was actually dreading going through the experience of having my eyes dilated, the wait time, not being able to drive afterwards etc. But my sight was decreasing to the paint of needing reading glasses of ever increasing strength and still not being able to comfortably read as much as I like to. Or I would get a headache, pain in my eyes and so on. So I finally caved and went to see Dr. Fleishman by recommendation of a friend. Well, I sure am glad I went! Not only am I better to read much better with my new prescription glasses but she also diagnosed me with a retinal detachment and was able to treat me in her office. My experience with Dr. Jessica Fleishman treating me for cataracts in her Albany, NY office has been AWFUL. Since Jan 2012, she has performed three (3) cataract related surgeries on me using premium Intra Ocular Lens (IOL). One surgery left me without sight for nearly 36 hours until she performed an emergency lens exchange with another premium IOL implant brand. During the post cataract surgery follow up visit, she immediately knew the reason for my lack of sight and began ranting that it was the fault of the Regional Eye Surgery Center OR technician and NOT her fault. Dr. Fleishman performed a second surgery to restore sight to my left eye with a premium lens of her choice. She knowingly used a premium replacement lens that she implanted "off label". This second surgery with a new premium IOL implant left me with visual impairments including blurry vision and ghosting of images for one entire year due to the lens she implanted being de-centered. During this one year wait period to see if my eye sight would "settle", I lived with daily fear that my eyesight would never return to normal and that I would have blurry ghosting vision coupled with severe star bursts in my right eye for the rest of my life. I spent many exhausting hours performing on-line research, discussions with IOL manufacturers, loss time and money on multiple different doctor visits all in search of corrective action. During numerous conversations and visits to Dr. Fleishman, she was adamant that the surgery error was the OR technician's fault and that I should pursue the Regional Eye Surgery Center for compensation even though she was the surgeon. Finally, after a year I went out of the area to have a competent surgeon correct Dr. Fleishman's two surgeries to my left eye. Prior to the third surgery to the left eye by this new surgeon and just prior to Dr. Fleishman telling me she was off to Europe, she agreed to compensate me for my out of pocket money expenses spent to correct the visual distortions to my left eye. This turned out to be a LIE. She handed off my letter to her malpractice insurer. Ten months later Dr. Fleishman's malpractice insurer denied my claim. When asked why, I was verbally told that their paid "medical expert" said that my surgical outcome visual distortions were consistent outcomes with these premium lenses! To date Dr. Fleishman has reneged on her word that she would compensate me for my out of pocket expenses to have my left eye sight corrected. I am out the $2,000 out of pocket premium lens cost which she recommended and implanted because it had to be removed and replaced with a standard lens to correct my left eyesight. Unfortunately, I still have severe night time star bursts in my right eye after Dr. Fleishman implanted a premium lens costing me $2,000 out of pocket in 2012. I find it very disheartening and disturbing that any person especially a Doctor does not take responsibility for a mishap under his or her care. I hope you find this review helpful and that you spend sufficient time reviewing any doctor who you are contemplating to use for cataract surgery. Ask questions and research as much as you can about IOLs if your eye professional / surgeon promotes premium IOLs instead of standard IOLs. Ask the surgeon if he or she had complaints from patients with premium IOLs and how were they resolved. read more

Well it's been a journey with this office and doctor. I came here first for an eye problem that was misdiagnosed by another doctor and was pretty happy with the service and problem cleared up fine and I did lasik here later. There are definitely pros and cons, just like any other doctor. Pros - I think she was pretty thorough with diagnosing my eye problem and addressing complications, I think the lasik was done competently, she was pretty cool about the pricing of the procedure, she'll answer all your questions and has a decent attitude, and I think her office has a nice vibe overall, definitely brand conscious which I do appreciate. Cons - wait times are usually really long, I had a really annoying experience with one of the support staff when I was trying to get assistance on some paperwork after the surgery where she said she'd fax me a form for days and never did (the doctor apologized about it later, but didn't really acknowledge this person's bad attitude to me), the sheet with after surgery care instructions had some inaccurate information on it. read more

I've struggled with bad eyesight for so long...many ophthalmologist informed me that Lasik could not be an effective option for me. I never bothered to go for a consultation because I figured what's the sense, it wouldn't work for me anyway! It wasn't until my glasses broke and I found myself between ophthalmologist that I stumbled across an ad for Lasik plus. I made an appointment for my free consultation and everything after that went by so fast. When I first came to the facility everyone was very nice and polite the office is very clean and tidy. All the machines look new and all the doctors and staff they were very warm and welcoming. My consultation went amazing; turns out I actually was a candidate for Lasik! At the time I had just started a new job and work schedule had a very very little wiggle room or flexibility. It was a tight Monday through Friday schedule but It happened to be that I had the next two days off (Thursday when they do the Lasik procedure and Friday, my consultation was on a Wednesday ) I was able to have my procedure the next day and book my next day postop appointment for the following day. Everything went well! Healing process went so quick, it was virtually painless and I was able to go back to my normal schedule the next day. I actually took the train to come back to my next day post op appointment! My eyes were a little bit sensitive to the light but besides that after week I just had perfect eye sight. Here I am two months out and seeing of perfect 2020 vision, I recommend this for anyone who's ever felt that they may not be a candidate or that's been told that they aren't a candidate without even having a consultation. The people at this Lasik center are fairly new but there's nothing but professionals in this office! I recommend this place to anyone considering changing their life. During the procedure she was very calm and reassuring, and the next day I woke up able to see details I didn't even notice when I wore my glasses.
