Turquaz Kebab House - Trio platter

Menu has so many different options but it doesn't fall far from grilled meat, rice, fresh salad, fries and warm puffy pita bread with hummus and tzatziki. Food was excellent. My husband went with the Sultan Kafta Plate Five patties served white rice, hummus, garlic, salad, fries, and one pita bread. While I went with the Beef Lamb Shawarma Plate Served with white rice, hummus, garlic, salad, fries, and one pita bread. I always get a tea here, because it is lovely and strong. Food came in a fast manner, and everything was fresh. My husband wasn't too thrilled with the spice profile of the Sultan Kafta plate, and probably won't get it again. He will probably stick with something with stronger notes like the Adana Kabab (my favourite). I enjoyed mine and the meat was plentiful. We are always too full to try dessert, but they look good in the display case. Service was friendly and prompt.

When I opened the box, there was a good portion of fries, salad, hummus, chicken, and rice. I dipped the pita into the hummus and it was smooth and delicious! The salad was fresh and flavourful. Both the hummus and salad would have me coming back. I had a few bites of the chicken and rice before I was too full to continue. I liked the chicken more than the beef, but it was good to try both. I can't wait to order again!

Best Donair - The shop

Once again, I don't intend on posting any negative reviews, but when things are out of hand, I have…read moreto ensure we are informed and on the same page. I love donairs and there is a standard for which they must be held to because there are so many donair restaurants with so much history here in Edmonton. When a shop asks me if i want the regular toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, onions plus donair sauce, I expect thats what will be inside... when I kept biting into a tough chewy piece of vegetable, I pulled it out, and realized that, in fact, it was a huge piece of CABBAGE! In fact instead of lettuce, the greenish vegetable this shop is using is large cut chunks of CABBAGE... not lettuce. I need not say more, but I should have known when the person put shredded sprinkles of cheese on top of watery gravy on what was supposed to be poutine... I couldn't see what he was doing behind the counter with the donairs, but had I seen, I would have questioned him right there... I like cabbage, but normally when it has been diced and seasoned as a coleslaw or salad type of thing. And if a restaurant asks me and confirms what their normal toppings are, I expect that is what I would get... this is extremely disappointing and verging on insulting. Listen, if you are trying to sell a product (especially a culturally/regionally significant one), expect that you will be held to the standards. Don't lie to or swindle your customers, and learn from those who have done it well (there are plenty of them in these parts https://edmontonjournal.com/life/food/donairs-explained-how-humble-street-food-conquered-edmonton) I hope this lands as constructive, because we all deserve a chance to learn and grow. Hopefully the owner/operators read this and understand that they have to represent their name with some more pride and effort.

Update review and this place is still just as delicious as it was a few years ago :)…read more The owner is pretty friendly and he sure knows how to make a mean donair I ordered a jumbo donair during lunch time to share and look how much meat is packed in there. Not only that it was fresh, it was filled with a layer of lettuce, onions and tomatoes. Also make sure that you get the sweet sauce, it totally completes the flavour. I'm really interested in trying their burger next time it claims that it's one of the best .. time to end the debate haha has anyone tried it? Let me know what you think

My friend was able to bring in a birthday cake and the restaurant provided sparkles, a very nice gesture. The portions are huge here! We got bread with a red tomato or red pepper dip, not exactly sure what it is but very tasty. I ordered the mixed shawarma platter but thought the beef and chicken was a little dry. It came with salad but unfortunately, the lettuce and other veggies didn't seem fresh. They were wilted and not crisp. It had an orange dressing that didn't really have a taste. The fatoush however was delicious, it was cold and tasted fresh! Although it wasn't hot outside and the restaurant was only half full, it was a bit too warm inside the restaurant. It did feel uncomfortable at times. It can also get noisy when the restaurant is full. It's in a good location and lots of parking. They don't take reservations so if you are a larger group, try to arrive before the dinner rush!

The lady at the front was highly unprofessional and needs training on how to behave appropriately toward a customer providing feedback about the food or service. Instead of apologizing, she rolled her eyes at us when we told her that we didn't like the mojitos and that our server hadn't informed us they contained artificial mint syrup. I have been to Best Kebab a few times and have recommended it to many people as well. However, I don't think I'll be coming again.

We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly. K's Mexicasa omelette was excellent with the Mexican meat the star. I know why the place is consistently full, it's that good. Definite redo when back in West Edmonton

The corned beef has had mashed potatoes which is different from what I'm used to but it was tasty nonetheless. My husband substituted the pancakes in his meal for pan fried potatoes. The place was super busy even though it was around 2pm and was still packed when we left. They seated us quickly as we were willing to sit at a table but we could've waited for a booth. The servers were friendly and fast which was perfect for us as I needed to get to an appointment. It's a relatively small restaurant with many patrons. It's definitely got that old diner vibe which is always fun once in a while. If you're looking for a solid, traditional diner experience, you can't for wrong with Rockin' Robyn's.
